In a recent paper (Bardelang et al. in J Org Chem 71:7657–7667, 2006), the deep inclusion of the TIPNO (1-phenyl-2-methylpropyl-1,1-dimethylethyl-2-nitroxide) free radical attached to a permethylated β-cyclodextrin (TRIMEB) into its cavity was questioned. In the present paper it is shown that the results of X-band and W-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies of the TIPNO–TRIMEB in the presence of competitors of complexation (1-adamantanol, methyl orange and 1-adamantylamine) are consistent with a situation where the nitroxide is capping the small cavity entrance. The inclusion of the incoming guest was proven by 1H NMR, whereas no changes in EPR spectra were noticed whatever the competitors’ concentrations. These observations are rationalized in terms of an equilibrium between a nitroxide-capped cyclodextrin (weak complex) and a non-self included form, both species involving competitors’ inclusion without significant EPR spectral changes. These results not only confirm our preliminary findings, but also point out to the peculiar role of the cyclodextrin methoxy crown of the primary rim stabilizing the appended guest by means of weak interactions. 相似文献

A series of low-spin six-coordinate (tetraphenylchlorinato)iron(III) complexes [Fe(TPC)(L)2]+/- (L = 1-MeIm, CN-, 4-CNPy, and (t)BuNC) have been prepared, and their (13)C NMR spectra have been examined to reveal the electronic structure. These complexes exist as the mixture of the two isomers with the (d(xy))2(d(xz), d(yz))3 and (d(xz), d(yz))4(d(xy))1 ground states. Contribution of the (d(xz), d(yz))4(d(xy))1 isomer has increased as the axial ligand changes from 1-MeIm, to CN(-) (in CD2Cl2 solution), CN- (in CD(3)OD solution), and 4-CNPy, and then to tBuNC as revealed by the meso and pyrroline carbon chemical shifts; the meso carbon signals at 146 and -19 ppm in [Fe(TPC)(1-MeIm)2]+ shifted to 763 and 700 ppm in [Fe(TPC)(tBuNC)2]+. In the case of the CN- complex, the population of the (d(xz), d(yz))4(d(xy))1 isomer has increased to a great extent when the solvent is changed from CD2Cl2 to CD3OD. The result is ascribed to the stabilization of the d(xz) and d(yz) orbitals of iron(III) caused by the hydrogen bonding between methanol and the coordinated cyanide ligand. Comparison of the 13C NMR data of the TPC complexes with those of the TPP, OEP, and OEC complexes has revealed that the populations of the (d(xz), d(yz))4(d(xy))1 isomer in TPC complexes are much larger than those in the corresponding TPP, OEC, and OEP complexes carrying the same axial ligands. 相似文献

The SmI(2)-mediated cross-coupling of nitrones with β-silyl-α,β-unsaturated esters, followed by zinc reduction, allows an efficient and highly diastereoselective preparation of β-silyl lactams, which are precursors of β-hydroxy lactams through Tamao-Fleming oxidation. By applying the method to a cyclic, carbohydrate-derived nitrone, a new synthesis of (+)-australine has been realized in only 11 steps and in 21% overall yield from L-xylose. 相似文献

The synthesis of well-defined soluble polystyrene supports bearing tin hydride functionalities has been achieved in two steps. First, a precursor was prepared by copolymerization of styrene and acetoxystyrene using atom transfer radical polymerization. Prior any modification, this precursor was fully characterized to check its structure. Then in a second part, tin hydride functions were introduced by a four step process. The chemical modification was monitored by IR and 1H NMR spectroscopies. The soluble support was also characterized by triple detection size exclusion chromatography at each step. Two families of supports were synthesized by varying the molecular weight and the degree of functionalization. The effectiveness of these tin hydride supports was tested through the reduction of 6-bromohexene and compared with the small counterpart Bu3SnH. Measurements of rate constant for hydrogen transfer were also reported. 相似文献

Carbonates are the predominating species in natural chemical processes. Thus, understanding the reactions that occur on their surfaces is very important. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of carbonates on the surface charge of a natural soil sample. First, surface properties of a synthesized calcite were determined using a simplified surface speciation model correlated to potentiometric titrations, and then intrinsic acidity constants and pH(znpc) (pH where protonic surface charge is equal to 0) were studied for solids with different percentages of calcite. Plasmon waveguide resonance (PWR) is a variant of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) that was invented about two decades ago at the University of Arizona. In addition to the characterization of the kinetics and affinity of molecular interactions, PWR possesses several advantages relative to SPR, namely, the ability to monitor both mass and structural changes. PWR allows anisotropy information to be obtained and is ideal for the investigation of molecular interactions occurring in anisotropic-oriented thin films. In this review, we will revisit main PWR applications, aiming at characterizing molecular interactions occurring (1) at lipid membranes deposited in the sensor and (2) in chemically modified sensors. Among the most widely used applications is the investigation of G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) ligand activation and the study of the lipid environment’s impact on this process. Pioneering PWR studies on GPCRs were carried out thanks to the strong and effective collaboration between two laboratories in the University of Arizona leaded by Dr. Gordon Tollin and Dr. Victor J. Hruby. This review provides an overview of the main applications of PWR and provides a historical perspective on the development of instruments since the first prototype and continuous technological improvements to ongoing and future developments, aiming at broadening the information obtained and expanding the application portfolio. 相似文献
