The present work deals with the spatially extended oscillatory Belousov Zhabotinsky reaction-diffusion system carried out in an anisotropic environment of phosphatidylcholines/water binary system, which presents layered aqueous domains separated by lipid bilayers. We report the occurrence of stable Turing patterns, spiral waves, and other exotic structures in phospholipids bilayers that are generally used as a models for cell plasma membranes.  相似文献

Sample evaporation in splitless injection of large volumes is rapid: depending on the experiment, results indicate that 200 μl of hexane, for instance, evaporates in 2–10 s, producing vapor at a rate of many hundreds of milliliters per minute. A 60 × 4 mm packed bed of 20–35 mesh Tenax TA enabled injection of 200 μl volumes of all solvents tested, and even 1 ml injections were possible provided they were performed over a period of 30 s. Retention of volatile sample components depends on the sample solvent, the injection volume, and the injection speed, but only little on the injector temperature. Losses of n-tridecane varied from hardly 15 % (when dissolved in pentane) to ca 60 % (ethyl acetate); losses of n-heptadecane were usually below 20 %. The column temperature during injection should be at least ca 20–30°C above the standard solvent boiling point.  相似文献

Summary The importance of selectivity in the capillary gas chromatographic analysis of the cellular fatty acids of micro-organisms is underestimated. The analysis on apolar silicone phases can lead to erratic elucidation of the fatty acid structure. Qualitative errors have been detected in commercially available standards on which computer matching identification techniques are based. Using highly polar capillary columns of the cyanopropyl silicone type, the errors could be elucidated. The exact identification of the hydrolysis products of bacteria is a must for chemotaxonomic studies applying chromatographic techniques. The fatty acid methyl ester profiles can also contain other chemical components which are very important taxonomic markers. Fatty aldehydes, for example, are main components in someClostridium species. The synthesis of two new Huperzine A analogues is reported. Both products present an amino substituted benzo-fused system in place of the pyridone ring of the natural alkaloid. The synthetic strategy to the two analogues is based on three different key palladium-catalyzed steps, namely a carbonylation reaction, an epoxide isomerization and a bicycloannulation reaction.  相似文献

In a recent screening for thermophilic bacteria from Azores hot springs, a Bacillus sp strain 3M, exhibiting cellulase-free extracellular xylanolitic activity, was isolated. Further enzyme characterization from liquid cultures grown on birchwood xylan revealed that the endo-l,4-βxylanase retains 100% of activity for at least 3 d at 55°C. At 80°C, it retains 47% of its maximal activity, and the enzyme is still active at 90°C. The optimum pH of the enzyme has a broad pH range, between 6.0 and 7.5, and it is remarkably active for the alkaline region, exhibiting 89% of relative activity at pH 9.O. The enzyme was partially inactivated by different divalent metal ions. Because of its tolerance for high temperature and pH conditions, and the absence of contaminating cellulase activity, the xylanase produced byBacillus sp 3M appears to be attractive for use in the pulp and paper industry. Indeed, the efficiency of the enzyme application to the kraftEucalyptus pulp was studied for bleaching pretreatment, resulting in a moderate increase of pulp bleachability.  相似文献

The use of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) for studying non-covalent interactions between macromolecules and ligands is well established. ESI-MS can be a useful tool for the determination of dissociation constants between molecules in the gas phase. We validate this method by studying the binding of the catalytic domain of cellobiohydrolase I (CBH I) from Trichoderma reesei to the disaccharide inhibitor cellobiose. The method was further applied to study two newly synthesized cellobiose derivatives (m-iodobenzyl 2-deoxy-2-azido-beta-cellobioside and p-benzyloxybenzyl beta-cellobioside). In a titration experiment, peak areas of different charge states of the free enzyme and the complex were summed in order to determine the dissociation constant. For cellobiose and m-iodobenzyl 2-deoxy-2-azido-beta-cellobioside, the calculated values are in good agreement with those reported from either displacement titration or equilibrium binding experiments in solution. Due to non-specific binding, the dissociation constant of p-benzyloxybenzyl beta-cellobioside does not correspond with the solution-based value. Our results indicate the need for careful interpretation of data sets when using nanoESI to study non-covalent interactions.  相似文献

Most of the common classes of organic compounds chromatograph normally on Superoxes. There is no tailing or adverse effect from excessively different activity different activity coefficients. Superoxes are therefore universal phases for gas chromatography. This is also expressed by a wide useful temperature range from ~50° to ~300°. High MW Superox-4 has a MAOT about 20° higher than the lower MW Superox-0.1. Several applications illustrating the versatility of Superox phases in (GC)2 are presented.  相似文献

The structure of networks plays a central role in the behavior of financial systems and their response to policy. Real-world networks, however, are rarely directly observable: banks’ assets and liabilities are typically known, but not who is lending how much and to whom. This paper adds to the existing literature in two ways. First, it shows how to simulate realistic networks that are based on balance-sheet information. To do so, we introduce a model where links cause fixed-costs, independent of contract size; but the costs per link decrease the more connected a bank is (scale economies). Second, to approach the optimization problem, we develop a new algorithm inspired by the transportation planning literature and research in stochastic search heuristics. Computational experiments find that the resulting networks are not only consistent with the balance sheets, but also resemble real-world financial networks in their density (which is sparse but not minimally dense) and in their core-periphery and disassortative structure.
