Phosphorescence excitation and emission wavelength peaks, lifetimes, limits of detection, and concentration ranges of analytical usefulness of 37 antimetabolites in rigid (77 degrees K) ethanolic solution were determined. A simple and rapid liquid chromatographic-mass spectrometric analysis of chloramphenicol in calf muscle is presented. A particle beam interface was used, with negative-ion chemical ionization mass spectrometry using methane as the reagent gas. The method specificity was tested for three related compounds, dehydrochloramphenicol, nitrosochloramphenicol and nitrophenylaminopropanediol. The extraction procedures require 5 g of muscle, and the quantification limit is 2 micrograms/kg for chloramphenicol. We investigate the diffusion of a single metal atom on the surface of a fcc (001) metal. Two points concerning the application of kinetic models to diffusion were considered. First, we test the assumption of kinetic models that diffusion occurs via a sequence of uncorrelated jumps. Second, when kinetic models are applicable we predict reasonable values of the kinetic rate constants.
Direct molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed for Ag on Ag(001) and Rh on Rh(001) systems. Diffusion was found to obey an Arrhenius-type dependence on temperature in both systems. The barriers and prefactors extracted from the MD results agree with estimates made from transition state theory (TST) and the experimental values for the Rh system. We conclude that kinetic models are applicable to diffusion on fcc (001) surfaces.
Transition state theory was then used to estimate diffusion parameters for all other adsorbate/ substrate combinations of the metals Ni, Cu, Rh, Pd, Ag, Pt, and Au. These results indicate that the characteristics of diffusion are primarily a property of the adsorbate. We also predict Ag atoms to have an anomalously low diffusion barrier on all of the substrates in this study. We use the accurate many-body density functional based MD/MC-CEM potential energy surface which allows us to consistently treat these multi-component systems. 相似文献

We present the first scheme for producing and measuring an Abelian geometric phase shift in a three-level system where states are invariant under a non-Abelian group. In contrast to existing experiments and proposals for experiments, based on U(1)-invariant states, our scheme geodesically evolves U(2)-invariant states in a four-dimensional SU(3)/U(2) space and is physically realized via a three-channel optical interferometer. 相似文献
We report results of a search for flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC), lepton flavor, and lepton-number violating decays of the D0 (and its antiparticle) into three and four bodies. Using data from Fermilab charm hadroproduction experiment E791, we examine modes with two leptons (muons or electrons) and a rho(0), K( *0), or straight phi vector meson or a nonresonant pi(pi), Kpi, or KK pair of pseudoscalar mesons. No evidence for any of these decays is found. Therefore, we present branching-fraction upper limits at 90% confidence level for the 27 decay modes examined (18 new). 相似文献
Whereas boson coherent states with complex parametrization provide an elegant, and intuitive representation, there is no counterpart
for fermions using complex parametrization. However, a complex parametrization provides a valuable way to describe amplitude
and phase of a coherent beam. Thus we pose the question of whether a fermionic beam can be described, even approximately,
by a complex-parametrized coherent state and define, in a natural way, approximate complex-parametrized fermion coherent states.
Then we identify four appealing properties of boson coherent states (eigenstate of annihilation operator, displaced vacuum
state, preservation of product states under linear coupling, and factorization of correlators) and show that these approximate
complex fermion coherent states fail all four criteria. The inapplicability of complex parametrization supports the use of
Grassman algebras as an appropriate alternative.
