We examine a local realist bound in the case of a one-atom micromaser. It is shown that such a bound is violated using a simplified treatment of the micromaser. We consider the effect of dissipation in a proposed experiment with the real micromaser. It is seen that the magnitude of violation of a Bell-type inequality depends significantly on the cavity parameters.  相似文献

Photoinduced electron-transfer processes of the newly synthesized [60]fullerene-diphenylbenzothiadiazole-triphenylamine (C60-PBTDP-TPA) triad in polar and nonpolar solvents have been studied by using time-resolved transient absorption and fluorescence measurements from picosecond to microsecond regions. By fluorescence lifetime measurements in picosecond time regions, excitation of the charge-transfer transition of the PBTDP-TPA moiety in C60-PBTDP-TPA induces energy transfer to the C60 moiety generating 1C60*-PBTDP-TPA, competitively with charge separation generating C60*--PBTDP-TPA*+. From 1C60*-PBTDP-TPA, which is generated directly and indirectly, charge separation occurs generating C60*--PBTDP-TPA*+ in polar solvents. The C60*--PBTDP-TPA*+ formed via the singlet excited states decayed within a few nanoseconds as revealed by the picosecond transient absorption spectra. In the nanosecond time region, C60*--PBTDP-TPA*+ is produced slowly, probably via 3C60*-PBTDP-TPA. Lifetimes of such slowly generated C60*--PBTDP-TPA*+ were longer than 1 micros, which are the longest values among the C60-bridge-TPA triad systems reported hitherto at room temperature. Roles of the PBTDP-TPA moiety with twisted intermolecular charge-transfer character playing as energy donor and electron donor in addition to the bridge have been disclosed.  相似文献

A rotaxane tethering both fullerene (C60) and ferrocene (Fc) moieties (abbreviated as (C60;Fc)rotax+) was synthesized in a good yield by the urethane end-capping of pseudorotaxane based on the crown ether-secondary amine motif. In (C60;Fc)rotax+, the C60 group serving as an electron acceptor is attached to the crown ether wheel, through which the axle with a Fc group acting as an electron donor on its end penetrates. The intrarotaxane photoinduced energy-transfer and electron-transfer processes between C60 and Fc in (C60;Fc)rotax+ have been investigated by time-resolved transient absorption and fluorescence measurements with changing solvent polarity. Nanosecond transient absorption measurements of the rotaxane demonstrated that the charge-separated state (C60*-;Fc*+)rotax+ is formed mainly via the excited triplet state of C60 in polar solvents. The lifetime of (C60*-;Fc*+)rotax+ was evaluated to be 20 ns in dimethylformamide (DMF) at room temperature. With lowing temperature, the lifetime of (C60*-;Fc*+)rotax+ extends to 270 ns in DMF at -65 degrees C, due to the structural changes leaving C60*- and Fc*+ at a relatively long distance in the low-temperature region.  相似文献

Tetracationic water-soluble porphyrin (H(2)P(4+)) has been immobilized by pi-pi stacking interactions onto the skeleton of carbon nanohorns (CNH), without disrupting their pi-electronic network. The stable aqueous solution of the CNH-H(2)P(4+) nanoensemble was examined by both electron microscopy and spectroscopic techniques. The efficient fluorescence quenching of the H(2)P(4+) moiety in the CNH-H(2)P(4+) nanoensemble was probed by steady-state as well as time-resolved fluorescence emission spectroscopy, suggesting charge separation from the photoexcited H(2)P(4+) to CNH. In the presence of methyl viologen dication (MV(2+)) and a hole trap, accumulation of the reduced species of methyl viologen was observed by the photoillumination of CNH-H(2)P(4+), suggesting that the electron migration from the initially formed charge-separated state takes place. Transient absorption spectroscopy gave further insights on the transient species such as the charge-separated state (CNH(*-))-(H(2)P(4+))(*+), which was consumed in the presence of MV(2+) and hole shifter, leaving the reduced methyl viologen.  相似文献

Intramolecular photoinduced charge-separation and charge-recombination processes in a covalently connected C60-(spacer)-N,N-bis(biphenylyl)aniline (C60-spacer-BBA) dyad, in which the center-to-center distance of the electron acceptor and electron donor is 15 A, have been studied by time-resolved fluorescence and transient absorption methods. The observed low fluorescence intensity and the short fluorescence lifetime of the C60 moiety of the dyad in PhCN and THF indicate that charge separation takes place via the excited singlet state of the C60 moiety at a quite fast rate and a high efficiency. The nanosecond transient absorption spectra in PhCN and THF showed the broad absorption bands at 880 and 1100 nm, which were attributed to C60(*-)-spacer-BBA(*+). The charge-separated state decays with a lifetime of 330-360 ns in PhCN and THF at room temperature. From temperature dependence of the charge-recombination rate constants, the reorganization energy was evaluated to be 0.77-0.87 eV, which indicates that the charge-recombination process is in the inverted region of the Marcus parabola. With lowering temperature, the contribution of charge separation via the excited triplet state of the C60 moiety increases due to an increase in solvation of C60(*-)-spacer-BBA(*+).  相似文献

Photoinduced electron transfer in self-assemblies of porphyrins ion-paired with ssDNA wrapped around single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) has been reported. To accomplish the three-component hybrids, two kinds of diameter-sorted semiconducting SWCNT(n,m)s of different diameter ((n,m) = (6,5) and (7,6)) and free-base or zinc porphyrin bearing peripheral positive charges ((TMPyP(+))M (tetrakis(4-N-methylpyridyl)porphyrin); M = Zn and H(2)) serving as light-absorbing photoactive materials are utilized. The donor-acceptor hybrids are held by ion-pairing between the negatively charged phosphate groups of ssDNA on the surface of the SWCNT and the positively charged at the ring periphery porphyrin macrocycle. The newly assembled bionano donor-acceptor hybrids have been characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and spectroscopic methods. Photoinduced electron transfer from the excited singlet porphyrin to the SWCNTs directly and/or via ssDNA as an electron mediator has been established by performing systematic studies involving the steady-state and time-resolved emission as well as the transient absorption studies. Higher charge-separation efficiency has been successfully demonstrated by the selection of the appropriate semiconductive SWCNTs with the right band gap, in addition to the aid of ssDNA as the electron mediator.  相似文献

Photoinduced electron transfer in a self-assembled single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT)-fullerene(C60) hybrid with SWNT acting as an electron donor and fullerene as an electron acceptor has been successfully demonstrated. Toward this, first, SWNTs were noncovalently functionalized using alkyl ammonium functionalized pyrene (Pyr-NH3+) to form SWNT/Pyr-NH3+ hybrids. The alkyl ammonium entity of SWNT/Pyr-NH3+ hybrids was further utilized to complex with benzo-18-crown-6 functionalized fullerene, crown-C60, via ammonium-crown ether interactions to yield SWNT/Pyr-NH3+/crown-C60 nanohybrids. The nanohybrids were isolated and characterized by TEM, UV-visible-near IR, and electrochemical methods. Free-energy calculations suggested possibility of electron transfer from the carbon nanotube to the singlet excited fullerene in the SWNT/Pyr-NH3+/crown-C60 nanohybrids. Accordingly, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence studies revealed efficient quenching of the singlet excited-state of C60 in the nanohybrids. Further studies involving nanosecond transient absorption studies confirmed electron transfer to be the quenching mechanism, in which the electron-transfer product, fullerene anion radical, was possible to spectrally characterize. The rates of charge separation, kCS, and charge recombination, kCR, were found to be 3.46 x 10(9) and 1.04 x 10(7) s-1, respectively. The calculated lifetime of the radical ion-pair was found to be over 100 ns, suggesting charge stabilization in the novel supramolecular nanohybrids. The present nanohybrids were further utilized to reduce hexyl-viologen dication (HV2+) and a sacrificial electron donor, 1-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide, in an electron-pooling experiment, offering additional proof for the occurrence of photoinduced charge-separation and potential utilization of these materials in light-energy harvesting applications.  相似文献

Three new tripyridyl tripodal ligands appended with either fullerene or pyromellitdiimide moieties, named C(60)-s-Tripod, C(60)-l-Tripod, and PI-Tripod, were synthesized and introduced into a porphyrin macroring N-(1-Zn)(3) (where 1-Zn = trisporphyrinatozinc(II)). From UV-vis absorption and fluorescence titration data, the binding constants of C(60)-s-Tripod, C(60)-l-Tripod, and PI-Tripod with N-(1-Zn)(3) in benzonitrile were estimated to be 3 × 10(8), 1 × 10(7), and 2 × 10(7) M(-1), respectively. These large binding constants denote multiple interactions of the ligands to N-(1-Zn)(3). The binding constants of the longer ligand (C(60)-l-Tripod) and the pyromellitdiimide ligand (PI-Tripod) are almost the same as those without the fullerene or pyromellitdiimide groups, indicating that they interact via three pyridyl groups to the porphyrinatozinc(II) coordination. In contrast, the larger binding constants and the almost complete fluorescence quenching in the case of the shorter ligand (C(60)-s-Tripod) indicate that the interaction with N-(1-Zn)(3) is via two pyridyl groups to the porphyrinatozinc(II) coordination and a π-π interaction of the fullerene to the porphyrin(s). The fluorescence of N-(1-Zn)(3) was quenched by up to 80% by the interaction of C(60)-l-Tripod. The nanosecond transient absorption spectra showed only the excited triplet peak of the fullerene on selective excitation of the macrocyclic porphyrins, indicating that energy transfer from the excited N-(1-Zn)(3) group to the fullerenyl moiety occurs in the C(60)-l-Tripod/N-(1-Zn)(3) composite. In the case of PI-Tripod, the fluorescence of N-(1-Zn)(3) was quenched by 45%. It seems that the fluorescence quenching probably originates from electron transfer from the excited N-(1-Zn)(3) group to the pyromellitdiimide moiety.  相似文献

Photoinduced charge separation of fullerodendrimers with carboxylates at terminal sites (C60 approximately COO-) has been found in aqueous media. Time-resolved transient absorption and fluorescence measurements of the fullerodendrimers demonstrated that charge separation takes place from the terminal carboxylate anion to the central excited singlet state of C60, generating C60*- approximately COO* with high quantum efficiency in aqueous solution. In the presence of viologen dication and a sacrificial donor, the persistent viologen radical cation was generated.  相似文献

Molecules of C60 covalently connected with N-ethylcarbazole (EtCz) and triphenylamine (TPA) have been synthesized. Photoinduced electron transfer in C60-EtCz and C60-TPA has been studied in polar and nonpolar solvents using time-resolved transient absorption and fluorescence measurements. From the fluorescence lifetimes, the excited singlet state of the C60 moiety (1C60) of C60-TPA generates predominantly C60*--TPA*+, which decays quickly to the ground state within 6 ns even in polar solvents. In the case of C60-EtCz, on the other hand, about half of the 1C60 moiety generates short-lived C60*--EtCz*+, while the other half of the 1C60 moiety is transferred to the 3C60 moiety via intersystem crossing in dimethylformamide, in which the energy level of C60*--EtCz*+ is lower than that of 3C60. Thus, the charge separation takes place via 3C60 generating C60*--EtCz*+, having a lifetime as long as 300 ns, probably because of the triplet spin character of C60*--EtCz*+. A special property of the EtCz moiety to stabilize the hole in the charge-separated state was revealed.  相似文献
