Spectrophotometric determination of tranexamic acid in pharmaceutical bulk and dosage forms.

In this study, a simple, fast, accurate and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of tranexamic acid in bulk and pharmaceutical preparations. The method is based on the reaction of ninhydrin with the primary amino group of tranexamic acid in the basic medium at pH 8.0. The reaction produces a bluish-purple color which absorbs maximally at 565 nm. Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 3-40 microg ml(-1) with molar absorptivity of 5.093 x 10(3) L mol(-1) cm(-1). The effects of various factors such as temperature, heating time, concentration of reagent, color stability and interferences were investigated to optimize the procedure. The results have been validated analytically and statistically. The proposed method has been applied for the determination of tranexamic acid in bulk and pharmaceutical preparations with good results.     

Some results on Ramsey numbers using sumfree sets

Maximal sumfree sets chosen from the non-zero elements of galois group of order 2⁶ (i.e. GF(2⁶)?{0}) are found to be of size 13, 17, 18, 20 and 32 only. This gives a negative result to an investigation which would otherwise have delivered an exact value of the Ramsey number R(3,3,3,3;2).     

Torsion pendulum automation by a single microcomputer

A new automated torsional pendulum is described. It uses a single photocell for the measurement of the period of oscillation and the logarithmic decrement. Data acquisition, data processing and temperature control are all performed by a single microcomputer. The result is that the instrument can be produced and operated more cheaply than before.The principles behind the design, the method of determining the shape factor, the calibration procedure and the software are discussed. Examples are given to illustrate the use of this instrument. A practical limitation is that the loss tangent should not exceed about 3.     

The back-bending phenomenon in 158Er

The results of a variation after angular momentum projection calculation with axial Nilsson-BCS-like intrinsic wave functions and a cranked Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculation for the back-bending region in ¹⁵⁸Er are reported. The moment-of-inertia values in the former are closer to the experimental results.     

An angular momentum expansion of energy and structure of high spin states

A new angular momentum expansion of level energies of ground-state band of even-even nuclei has been obtained which is found to converge rapidly even for the most back-bending nuclei. Attempts have been made to interpret the parameters and calculate them microscopically. It is found that nuclear structure in the forward bending region is quite different compared to that in the back-bending region.     

Excitation energy and angular momentum dependence of nuclear level densities and spin cut-off factor in SPA and SPA + RPA approaches

We investigate the excitation energy (E^*) and angular momentum (J) dependence of nuclear level density and spin cut-off factor (σ) within microscopic approaches based on SPA and its extension SPA + RPA representation of the grand partition function for quadrupole-quadrupole interaction model Hamiltonian. For ¹¹⁰Sn, we find that excitation energy dependence of the total level density obtained within these approaches is significantly different. On the other hand, these approaches yield similar behaviour for J-dependence of the level density at fixed values of E^*. Values of σ_{SPA + RPA} at low E^* are found to be slightly smaller than σ_SPA but they tend to become almost the same at higher E^* (> 30 MeV). We also find that Bethe's formula for fixed-J level density based on the spin cut-off approximation can be used to compute (E^*, J) near the yrast line provided one uses an appropriate value of the spin cut-off factor.     

Iterative methods for solving proximal split minimization problems

In this paper, we propose two iterative algorithms for finding the minimum-norm solution of a split minimization problem. We prove strong convergence of the sequences generated by the proposed algorithms. The iterative schemes are proposed in such a way that the selection of the step-sizes does not need any prior information about the operator norm. We further give some examples to numerically verify the efficiency and implementation of our new methods and compare the two algorithms presented. Our results act as supplements to several recent important results in this area.     

A Survey on Existence Results for Boundary Value Problems of Nonlinear Fractional Differential Equations and Inclusions

In this survey paper, we shall establish sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions for various classes of initial and boundary value problem for fractional differential equations and inclusions involving the Caputo fractional derivative. The both cases of convex and nonconvex valued right hand side are considered. The topological structure of the set of solutions is also considered.
