New polythiophenes bearing electron-acceptor phthalocyanine chromophores

Two new donor-acceptor copolymers comprising a polythiophene backbone, and bearing phthalocyanine chromophores on the side chains have been prepared. Preliminary photophysical characterization of these materials by FTIR photoinduced absorption indicates that electron transfer from the polythiophene to the phthalocyanine units takes place.

Comparison of Two Stability-Indicating Chromatographic Methods for the Determination of Mirabegron in Presence of Its Degradation Product

Mirabegron is a novel β₃-adrenoceptor agonist containing an amide group. It was subjected to stress conditions of acidic and alkaline hydrolyses. The hydrolytic degradation product was isolated and its structure was confirmed using mass and IR spectrometry. Two stability-indicating chromatographic methods have been proposed for the determination of mirabegron. TLC method was applied using silica gel as stationary phase and chloroform–methanol–ammonia (9.0:1.0:0.1 by volume) as the mobile phase, and chromatograms were scanned at 250 nm. Accurate determination of the drug was achieved over the concentration range of 2–12 μg per band. In addition, an isocratic HPLC method was developed on Agilent C18 column (150 mm × 4.5 mm I.D., particle size 5 µm) using ethanol-phosphate buffer pH 2.5 (30:70, by volume) as a mobile phase with flow rate of 1 mL min^?1.The intact drug was detected at 250 nm with running time less than 5 min. Mirabegron was determined accurately in a concentration range of 1–25 µg mL^?1. The proposed chromatographic methods were applied successfully for the assay of mirabegron in pharmaceutical dosage form and both methods were validated as per the International Conference on Harmonization guidelines and statistically compared with a reported gradient HPLC method.

Enantioselective metal-free reduction of ketones by a user-friendly silane with a reusable chiral additive

1-Hydrosilatrane, a safe and easy-to-handle reducing reagent that can be inexpensively accessed, has been shown to reduce prochiral ketones asymmetrically in the presence of chiral 1,2-aminoalcohols with ees ranging from 8% to 86%. The best result was achieved using ephedrine as the source of chirality, which is readily commercially available. The additive can be recovered through extraction and reused without any erosion of enantioselectivity.

In this study, Ag, Ni²⁺, and Fe²⁺ immobilized on hydroxyapatite‐core‐shell γ‐Fe₂O₃ nanoparticles (γ‐Fe₂O₃@HAp‐Ag, γ‐Fe₂O₃@HAp‐Ni²⁺, and γ‐Fe₂O₃@HAp‐Fe²⁺) as a new and reusable Lewis acid magnetic nanocatalyst was successfully synthesized and reported for an atom economic, extremely facile, and environmentally benign procedure for the synthesis of highly functionalized tetrahydropyridines derivatives 4a‐t is described by one‐pot five‐component reaction of 2 equiv of aldehydes 1 , 2 equiv of amines 2 , and 1 equiv of methyl acetoacetate 3 in EtOH at room temperature in good to high yields and short reaction time. The presented methodology offers several advantages such as easy work‐up procedure, reusability of the magnetic nanocatalyst, operational simplicity, green synthesis avoiding toxic reagents and solvent, mild reaction conditions, and no tedious column chromatographic separation.     

Scanning tunneling spectroscopy of Cl vacancies in NaCl films: strong electron-phonon coupling in double-barrier tunneling junctions

Broad Gaussian line shapes are observed in scanning tunneling spectroscopy of single, localized electronic states induced by Cl vacancies in ultrathin NaCl films on Cu surfaces. Using a simple inelastic resonance tunneling model, we show that the observed broad line shapes are caused by a strong coupling between the localized state and the optical phonons in the film. The parameters for the model are obtained from density functional calculations, in which the occupation of the vacancy state temporarily taking place in the experiment has also been accounted for.     

Hamilton–Jacobi Quantization of Singular Lagrangians with Linear Velocities

In this paper, constrained Hamiltonian systems with linear velocities are investigated by using the Hamilton–Jacobi method. The integrablity conditions are considered on the equations of motion and the action function as well in order to obtain the path integral quantization of singular Lagrangians with linear velocities.     

LR-CAHSQC: an application of a Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill-type sequence to heteronuclear multiple bond correlation spectroscopy

A new pulse sequence, long-range CPMG-adjusted heteronuclear single quantum coherence (LR-CAHSQC), is proposed for the determination of long-range JCH coupling constants from a long-range 1H-13C correlation experiment. The long-range heteronuclear coupling constants can be directly extracted from COSY-type antiphase peak patterns. The current approach utilizes CPMG-sequences for polarization transfer, and thus avoids the evolution of homonuclear JHH couplings, which normally may introduce abnormalities into the cross peak pattern. The differences between LR-CAHSQC and normal LR-HSQC are discussed.
