Two new chiral dinuclear Cu(II) complexes [Cu2(μ-Cl)2(HL1)2] · C2H5OH (1) and [Cu2(μ-Cl)2(HL2)2] · CH3OH (2), have been synthesized and structurally characterized, where the chiral ligands H2L1 and H2L2 are derived from the chiral amino alcohols (S)-(−)-2-amino-3-phenyl-1-propanol and (S)-(+)-2-phenylglycinol. Single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analyses revealed that in these complexes, the dominant hydrogen bonding property of metal bound chloride anion directs the self assembly of complex molecules through CH···Cl hydrogen bonding interactions leading to the formation of intriguing hydrogen bonded metallo-supramolecular architectures in their respective crystal lattices. The supramolecular systems described here belong to the rare class of metal-organic architectures that are formed as a result of metal directed hydrogen bonding interactions among chiral complex molecules. Complexes 1 and 2 are further characterized by IR, ESR, UV–Vis and CD spectroscopy.  相似文献

Diabetes mellitus is a common global health problem. Among the complications that are frequently associated with DM are the alternation of sexual function and fertility, especially in young men. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of nanoparticles of Costus speciosus (C. speciosus) in preserving the prostatic structure of diabetic rats and to explore the mechanism behind this effect. A model of DM was induced in male albino rats by a single intraperitoneally injection of streptozotocin (STZ, 60 mg/kg body weight). Five groups (n = 10 each) of rats were included in this study: the control, C. speciosus gold nanoparticles-treated (150 mg/kg body weight through gastric intubation for 30 days), untreated diabetic, metformin-treated diabetic (500 mg/kg/day gastric intubation for 30 days) and the C. speciosus-treated diabetic group. The blood glucose, insulin and testosterone levels as well as oxidants/antioxidants status were assessed in the serum. Gene expression of proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL1β and IL-6 were assessed in the prostate homogenate. At the end of the experiment, the rats were sacrificed and the prostate was dissected out and prepared for histopathological and immunohistochemistry study using Ki67 and Bcl-2. C. Speciosus nanoparticles significantly decreased (p = 0.03) the blood glucose level while significantly increasing insulin (p = 0.01) and testosterone (p = 0.04) levels compared to the untreated diabetic rats. Oxidants/antioxidants status was markedly improved after administration of C. speciosus. Prostatic expression of the mRNA of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL1β and TNF-α was down-regulated in metformin- and C. speciosus-treated rats. The histological structure of the ventral prostate was preserved in metformin- and C. speciosus-treated diabetic rats with a significantly thicker epithelial cell layer and significant increase immunoexpression in Bcl-2 and Ki67. In conclusion, the protective effect induced by C. speciosus nanoparticles on the prostate of diabetic rats might be directly mediated through the down-regulation of inflammatory cytokines and the up-regulation of antioxidant activity and indirectly mediated through the anti-hyperglycemic effect through enhancing insulin secretion.  相似文献

Simple SummaryIn spite of substantial investigation, the biological link between periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis remains unexplained. This study intended to correlate periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis gene expression patterns to find shared targets for both the disease. We identified the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis. The network was built by integrating DEGs and ranking the genes using GeneMANIA. FINDSITEcomb2.0 was used to find a possible inhibitor for the top-ranked gene. Further, the binding effectiveness and protein-ligand complex stability were then determined by molecular docking and molecular dynamics. The network analysis showed IFI44L as a highly ranking gene implicated in most immunological pathways. A virtual screening of 6507 compounds revealed vemurafenib as the best candidate for the IFI44L target. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics modelling revealed the stability of the IFI44L-vemurafenib complex, which suggest IFI44L is potential target and vemurafenib could be the better candidate to treat both diseases.AbstractObjective: Despite extensive research on periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis, the underlying molecular connectivity between these condition remains largely unknown. This research aimed to integrate periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis gene expression profiles to identify interconnecting genes and focus to develop a common lead molecule against these inflammatory conditions. Materials and Methods: Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis were identified from the datasets retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. The network was constructed by merging DEGs, and the interconnecting genes were identified and ranked using GeneMANIA. For the selected top ranked gene, the potential inhibitor was searched using FINDSITEcomb2.0. Subsequently, the molecular docking and molecular dynamics were performed to determine the binding efficiency and protein-ligand complex stability, respectively. Results: From the network analysis, IFN-induced protein 44-like (IFI44L) was identified as a top ranked gene involved in most of the immunological pathway. With further virtual screening of 6507 molecules, vemurafenib was identified to be the best fit against the IFI44L target. The binding energy and stability of IFI44L with vemurafenib were investigated using molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation. Docking results show binding energy of −7.7 Kcal/mol, and the simulation results show stability till 100 ns. Conclusions: The identified IFI44L may represent a common drug target for periodontitis and rheumatoid arthritis. Vemurafenib could be a potent anti-inflammatory drug for both diseases.  相似文献

Privacy-preserving techniques allow private information to be used without compromising privacy. Most encryption algorithms, such as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, cannot perform computational operations on encrypted data without first applying the decryption process. Homomorphic encryption algorithms provide innovative solutions to support computations on encrypted data while preserving the content of private information. However, these algorithms have some limitations, such as computational cost as well as the need for modifications for each case study. In this paper, we present a comprehensive overview of various homomorphic encryption tools for Big Data analysis and their applications. We also discuss a security framework for Big Data analysis while preserving privacy using homomorphic encryption algorithms. We highlight the fundamental features and tradeoffs that should be considered when choosing the right approach for Big Data applications in practice. We then present a comparison of popular current homomorphic encryption tools with respect to these identified characteristics. We examine the implementation results of various homomorphic encryption toolkits and compare their performances. Finally, we highlight some important issues and research opportunities. We aim to anticipate how homomorphic encryption technology will be useful for secure Big Data processing, especially to improve the utility and performance of privacy-preserving machine learning.  相似文献

Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are the primary source of one of the growing public health problems that requires global attention, indicating an urgent need for new antibiotics. Marine ecosystems are characterized by high biodiversity and are considered one of the essential sources of bioactive chemical compounds. Bacterial associates of marine invertebrates are commonly a source of active medicinal and natural products and are important sources for drug discovery. Hence, marine invertebrate-associated microbiomes are a fruitful resource for excavating novel genes and bioactive compounds. In a previous study, we isolated Streptomyces sp. SCSIO 001680, coded as strain 63, from the Red Sea nudibranch Chromodoris quadricolor, which exhibited antimicrobial and antitumor activity. In addition, this isolate harbors several natural product biosynthetic gene clusters, suggesting it has the potential to produce bioactive natural products. The present study aimed to investigate the metabolic profile of the isolated Streptomyces sp. SCSIO 001680 (strain 63) and to predict their potential role in the host’s survival. The crude metabolic extracts of strain 63 cultivated in two different media were characterized by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometry. The metabolomics approach provided us with characteristic chemical fingerprints of the cellular processes and the relative abundance of specific compounds. The Global Products Social Molecular Networking database was used to identify the metabolites. While 434 metabolites were detected in the extracts, only a few compounds were identified based on the standards and the public spectral libraries, including desferrioxamines, marineosin A, and bisucaberin, halichoblelide, alternarin A, pachastrelloside A, streptodepsipeptide P1 1B, didemnaketal F, and alexandrolide. This finding suggests that this strain harbors several novel compounds. In addition, the metabolism of the microbiome of marine invertebrates remains poorly represented. Thus, our data constitute a valuable complement to the study of metabolism in the host microbiome.  相似文献

Anionic metathesis reaction between the perchlorate salt of a copper-tetraazamacrocycle complex and the tetrabutylammonium salt of Lindqvist-type isopolyoxometalates in acetonitrile leads to the formation of two new inorganic-organic hybrid solids formulated as [Cu(L)(MeCN)][W(6)O(19)] (1) and [Cu(L)(MeCN)][Mo(6)O(19)] (2). Interestingly, both ion-pair complexes crystallize in a chiral space group P2(1)2(1)2(1). Crystallographic analysis of the obtained compounds reveals the occurrence of spontaneous resolution during crystallization. Both the enantiomorphs of compound 1 have been structurally characterized, whereas the resolution of compound 2 is rather poor.  相似文献

New series of indole derivatives analogous to donepezil, a well known anti-Alzheimer and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor drug, was synthesized. A full chemical characterization of the new compounds is provided. Biological evaluation of the new compounds as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors was performed. Most of the compounds were found to have potent acetylcholinesterase inhibitor activity compared to donepezil as standard. The compound 1-(2-(4-(2-fluorobenzyl) piperazin-1-yl)acetyl)indoline-2,3-dione (IIId) was found to be the most potent.  相似文献

The thermal stability of pure urea–formaldehyde resin (PR) and modified urea–formaldehyde (UF) resins with hexamethylenetetramine-HMTA (Resin 1), melamine-M (Resin 2), and ethylene urea (EU, Resin 3) including nano-SiO2 was investigated by non-isothermal thermo-gravimetric analysis (TG), differential thermal gravimetry (DTG), and differential thermal analysis (DTA) supported by data from IR spectroscopy. Possibility of combining inorganic filler in a form of silicon dioxide with UF resins was found investigated and percentage of free formaldehyde was determined. The shift of DTG peaks to a high temperature indicates the increase of thermal stability of modified UF resin with EU (Resin 3) which is confirmed by data obtained from the FTIR study. The minimum percentage (6%) of free formaldehyde was obtained in Resin 3.  相似文献

Friction stir welding is a promising solid state joining process for high strength aluminum alloys. Though friction stir welding eliminates the problems of fusion welding as it is performed below melting temperature (Tm), it creates severe plastic deformation. Friction stir welds of some aluminum alloys exhibit relatively poor corrosion resistance. This research enhanced the corrosion properties of such welds through diode laser surface melting.A friction stir weld of aluminum alloy 2024 T351 was laser melted using a 1 kW diode laser. The melt-depth and microstructure were investigated using optical and scanning electron microscopy. The melt zone exhibited epitaxially grown columnar grains. At the interface between the melted and the un-melted zone, a thick planar boundary was observed. Energy dispersive spectroscopy analyzed the redistribution of elemental composition. The corrosion properties of the laser melted and native welds were studied in aqueous 0.5 M sodium chloride solution using open circuit potential and cyclic potentiodynamic polarization. The results show noticeable increase in the pit nucleation resistance (390 mV) after the laser surface treatment. The repassivation potential was nobler to the corrosion potential after the laser treatment, which confirmed that the resistance to pit growth was improved.  相似文献
