Hyperfine structure studies of Tantalum

A narrow bandwidth ring dye laser pumped by an argon ion laser has been used to investigate the hyperfine structure of the even and odd parity levels of tantalum by optogalvanic spectroscopy in the wavelength range 5640 to 6050 Å. Seventeen transitions have been observed and eight of these have not been reported in the literature so far. These transitions involve 27 levels with 15 odd and 12 even parity configurations. The magnetic dipole hyperfine interaction constants A and the electric quadrupole interaction constants B for these levels have been computed and compared with the data available in literature. The results for the levels at 34799.71 cm^?1, 26960.46 cm^?1 and 19657.78 cm^?1 are reported for the first time.     

Synthesis and characterization of some methyl complexes of palladium(II). Part 2(1)

Summary Dichloro complexes of Pd^II, [Pd(L–L)Cl₂], where L–L=1-(thiomethyl)-2-(diphenylarsino)ethane (S–As) or 1-(thiomethyl)-2-(diphenylphosphino)ethane (S–P) andtrans-[PdL₂Cl₂], where L=diphenyl(2-phenylethyl)-phosphine (PE), diphenyl(1-naphthyl)phosphine (PN) orN-methyl-2-thiophenealdimine (SN), have been prepared and characterized. The reactions of these complexes with MeLi were investigated. The dimethyl complexes [Pd(L–L)Me₂] (L–L=S–As, S–P) and [Pd(PE)Me₂] were isolated and characterized. Reaction of [Pd(L–L)Me₂] (L–L=S–As, S–P) with HCl affords the monomethyl derivatives [Pd(L–L)Me(Cl)]. In contrast to the Pt analogues, [Pd(L–L)Me₂] and [Pd(L–L)Me(Cl)] are relatively less stable than [Pt(L–L)Me₂] and [Pt(L–L)Me(Cl)].     

Structural Evolution and Electronic Properties of Au2Gen-/0 (n=1-8) Clusters: Anion Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Theoretical Calculations

Investigating the structures and properties of Au-Ge mixed clusters can give insight into the microscopic mechanisms in gold-catalyzed Ge films and can also provide valuable information for the production of germanium-based functional materials. In this work, size-selected anion photoelectron spectroscopy and theoretical calculations were used to explore the structural evolution and electronic properties of Au₂Ge_n^-/0 (n=1-8) clusters. It is found that the two Au atoms in Au₂Ge_n^-/0 (n=1-8) showed high coordination numbers and weak aurophilic interactions. The global minima of Au₂Ge_n^- anions and Au₂Ge_n neutrals are in spin doublet and singlet states, respectively. Au₂Ge_n^- anions and Au₂Ge_n neutrals showed similar structural features, except for Au₂Ge₄^-/0 and Au₂Ge₅^-/0. The C_2v symmetric V-shaped structure is observed for Au₂Ge₁^-/0, while Au₂Ge₂^-/0 has a C_2v symmetric dibridged structure. Au₂Ge₃^-/0 can be viewed as the two Au atoms attached to different Ge-Ge bonds of Ge₃ triangle. Au₂Ge₄^- has two Au atoms edge-capping Ge₄ tetrahedron, while Au₂Ge₄ neutral adopts a C_2v symmetric double Au atoms face-capping Ge₄ rhombus. Au₂Ge_5-8^-/0 show triangular, tetragonal, and pentagonal prism-based geometries. Au₂Ge₆ adopts a C_2v symmetric tetragonal prism structure and exhibits σ plus π double bonding characters.     

Phytochemical profiling and evaluation of modified resazurin microtiter plate assay of the roots of Trillium govanianum

Abstract

Trillium govanianum Wall. ex D. Don (Melanthiaceae alt. Trilliaceae), is native to the Himalayas. The present study, for the first time, was undertaken to explore the antimicrobial potential, to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of the methanol extract of the roots of Trillium govanianum and its solid phase extraction (SPE) fractions by using resazurin microtiter assay (REMA) against Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial registered strains and to carry out phytochemical analysis. The remarkable amount of gallic acid equivalent phenolic and quercetin equivalent flavonoid content was manifested by MeOH extract (20.27?±?3.03?mg GAE/g DW and 9.25?±?0.50?mg QE/g DW respectively). The GC/MS analysis revealed the presence saturated and unsaturated components. Considerable level of antibacterial potential against Gram-positive bacteria (MIC: 2.5-0.009?mg/mL) than against Gram-negative bacteria (MIC: 2.5-0.165?mg/mL) were observed. The use of microtiter plates has the advantage of lower cost, fast and quantitative results.     

Three new cholinesterase-inhibiting cis-clerodane diterpenoids from Otostegia limbata

Three new tricyclic cis-clerodane type diterpenoids trivially named as limbatolide A (1), limbatolide B (2) and limbatolide C (3) have been isolated from the roots of Otostegia limbata along with two known compounds; oleanic acid and beta-sitosterol. The structure elucidation of the new compounds was based primarily on two-dimensional (2D) NMR techniques. Compounds 1-3 displayed inhibitory potential in a concentration-dependent manner against acetylcholinesterase (AChE; EC 3.1.1.7) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE; EC 3.1.1.8) enzymes, respectively.

Simultaneous effects of induced magnetic field and heat and mass transfer on the peristaltic motion of second‐order fluid in a channel

In this article, we investigate the influence of heat and mass transfer on the peristaltic flow of magnetohydrodynamic second‐order fluid in a channel when the induced magnetic field effects are present. Problem formulation in a wave frame of reference is presented. The governing nonlinear analysis is carried out under the assumption of small wave number. Explicit expressions of the pressure gradient, the stream function, the magnetic force function, the axial induced magnetic field, the current density distribution, the temperature, and the concentration distribution are derived.
