Measurement of the pp cross sections in the momentum range 0.9–2.0 GeV/c

The pp total, elastic, and all the inelastic cross sections were measured at 11 momenta in the range 0.9–2.0 GeV/c. No clear structure was observed in their momentum dependences. The momentum dependence of the total cross section agrees quite well with the result of a phase-shift analysis by Arndt. Our measurement of the ppπ⁰ and pnπ⁺ cross sections served to normalize the earlier systematic but relative and extrapolated measurements of these cross sections over a narrower momentum range. Calculations by König and Kroll based on a pion exchange model including the effect of an I = 1 dibaryon did not fit the single-pion production cross sections.     

Synthesis and structures of sila-macrobicyclic compounds: syn and anti isomers of hexasilabicyclo[12.8.8]triacontane

Syn and anti isomers of a novel saturated sila-macrobicyclic compound, hexasilabicyclo[12.8.8]triacontane, were synthesized via the functionalization of 1,1,10,10-tetraphenylhexasilacyclooctadecane derivative, which was obtained by the diimide hydrogenation of the corresponding hexasilacyclooctadecahexayne derivative. The structures of these macrocyclic compounds were determined by ¹H, ¹³C, and²⁹Si NMR and X-ray crystallography.     

Fe Ion-induced phase transformation in 17/7 stainless steel

CEMS observation has showed the large difference in the fraction of the induced alpha phase between⁵⁶Fe ion and⁵⁷ion irradiation. In case of⁵⁷Fe ion irradiation, the projectile⁵⁷Fe probe atom observes the phase transformation which may be induced by itself. It is most probable that CEMS in⁵⁷Fe ion irradiation reflects the phase transformation due to compositional changes and alloying effects.     

Synthesis of β-lactams by the photolysis of cyclohexyl benzoylformate in the presence of imines

Reaction of imines with hydroxyphenylketene which was produced by photolysis of cyclohexyl benzoylformate gave β-lactams in good yields.
