The structure and flexibility of RNA depends sensitively on the microenvironment. Using pulsed electron-electron double-resonance (PELDOR)/double electron-electron resonance (DEER) spectroscopy combined with advanced labeling techniques, we show that the structure of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) changes upon internalization into Xenopus lævis oocytes. Compared to dilute solution, the dsRNA A-helix is more compact in cells. We recapitulate this compaction in a densely crowded protein solution. Atomic-resolution molecular dynamics simulations of dsRNA semi-quantitatively capture the compaction, and identify non-specific electrostatic interactions between proteins and dsRNA as a possible driver of this effect. 相似文献

A hybrid-type boron doped carbon stripper foil of 200 μg/cm2 is used for the present H? injection beam energy of 181 MeV in the 3-GeV rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS) of the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC). A stripper foil has a certain lifetime and usually lifetime goes shorter for high power operation. Foil degradation such as foil thinning and pinhole formation caused by the radiation might be a signal of the foil breaking. As a result, one can avoid sudden foil breaking by an efficient monitoring of the foil degradation. We have succeeded measuring even a little change of the stripper foil thickness during user operation of the RCS. It is the main motivation of the present study. A single foil was irradiated with a total of 2.7 × 1021 particles (injected H? itself) during 4 months continuous operation of the RCS but we did not observe any indication of the foil degradation. 相似文献

Total gas content and its composition are important specifications for sintered nuclear fuel pellets particularly in the case of fast breeder reactor fuels. Most commonly, total gas content and its composition is determined by hot vacuum extraction-quadrupole mass spectrometry (HVE-QMS). A number of parameters in this methodology such as temperature, duration of heating for quantitative extraction of evolved gases, total volume of the system, gas analysis conditions etc. need to be optimized for reliable measurements. In addition, sensitivity factors for various gases like H2, CH4, N2, CO, O2 and CO2 in quadrupole mass spectrometry required for quantification of results have been determined and validated employing reference gas mixtures of known composition. Employing these optimized conditions total gas content and its composition in blanket pellets (uranium oxide pellets) of Indian prototype fast breeder reactor was determined employing HVE-QMS. The relative expanded uncertainty (at a coverage factor k = 2) in the measurement of total gas content excluding hydrogen was estimated as per ISO guidelines and it was found to be 9.2 %. 相似文献

In this paper, variational iteration method is applied to compute the numerical solutions of non-linear partial differential equations like Huxley and Burgers–Huxley equation. The approximate solutions of the Huxley and Burgers–Huxley equations are compared with the Haar wavelet solution as well as with the exact solutions. Surface properties of four proteins having molecular weights less than 5,000 are reported at air/water and alumina/water interface at pH 7.0. Reversibility in the adsorption of these proteins at the alumina/water interface is tested. The adsorption on alumina/water interface has been found to be controlled by electrostatic interaction. Positive adsorption was obtained when protein and alumina surface had opposite charges and negative adsorption was obtained when both protein and surface had same charges. Of the four proteins reversibility in adsorption was observed with the one having the lowest molecular weight of 3100. The adsorption behavior apparently had no correlation with their surface hydrophobic!ty. Time dependent changes in air/water interfacial tension was observed for all the four proteins indicating time dependent loosening of compact protein structure and surface unfolding. 相似文献

Above‐room‐temperature polar magnets are of interest due to their practical applications in spintronics. Here we present a strategy to design high‐temperature polar magnetic oxides in the corundum‐derived A2BB′O6 family, exemplified by the non‐centrosymmetric (R3) Ni3TeO6‐type Mn2+2Fe3+Mo5+O6, which shows strong ferrimagnetic ordering with TC=337 K and demonstrates structural polarization without any ions with (n?1)d10ns0, d0, or stereoactive lone‐pair electrons. Density functional theory calculations confirm the experimental results and suggest that the energy of the magnetically ordered structure, based on the Ni3TeO6 prototype, is significantly lower than that of any related structure, and accounts for the spontaneous polarization (68 μC cm?2) and non‐centrosymmetry confirmed directly by second harmonic generation. These results motivate new directions in the search for practical magnetoelectric/multiferroic materials. 相似文献
