One-pot synthesis of lead sulfide nanoparticles

A convenient and effective one-pot three-component synthesis of the lead sulfide nanoparticles was developed on the basis of the exchange reaction between the lead acetate and sodium sulfide in water at the ambient conditions. A possibility was shown of the direct reaction between the lead Pb²⁺ and sulfide S²⁻ ions in an aqueous solution, resulting in a solid phase which contained PbS nanoparticles only, avoiding the hydrolysis stage.

Brillouin spectroscopy of nonlinear magnetoacoustic resonances in a layered YIG/GGG structure

Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy is used to visualize the spatial structure of magnetoacoustic resonances in an yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film on a gadolinium–gallium garnet (GGG) substrate under the strong influence of nonlinear processes of three magnon decay. It is shown that the decay processes result in the simultaneous excitation of magnetoacoustic resonances at two frequencies: those of the input signal and its half frequency. The distribution of coupled magnetic and elastic waves becomes much more complicated and the excitation threshold of magnetoacoustic resonances arises.     

Synthesis of cerium orthophosphates with monazite and rhabdophane structure from phosphoric acid solutions in the presence of hydrogen peroxide

It has been proposed to conduct the synthesis of cerium(III) orthophosphates by reacting cerium(IV) compounds with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of concentrated orthophosphoric acid at ambient temperature. It has been shown that the reaction of H₂O₂ with CeO₂ suspensions in H₃PO₄ medium produces CePO₄ · xH₂O (rhabdophane structure), while that with CeO₂ solutions in concentrated H₃PO₄ results in CePO₄ (monazite structure).

The calculation of the quadrupole exchange interaction parameter in a system of disordered magnetic moments

The parameters of quadrupole exchange and electron-phonon interaction are calculated within the limits of the exchange interaction model. It is shown that a magnetically disordered system forms an effective exchange interaction between electrons.     

Ag<Subscript>2</Subscript>S/Ag heteronanostructure

An Ag₂S/Ag heteronanostructure has been prepared for the first time by hydrochemical deposition. The “acanthite α-Ag₂S–argentite β-Ag₂S” phase transformation has been studied in situ by high-temperature X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The crystal structure of argentite has been revealed. It has been found that the concentration of vacant sites in the metal sublattice of argentite exceeds 92%. The reversible acanthite–argentite transformation in the Ag₂S/Ag heteronanostructure at the application of the external bias voltage is considered.
