Halonitromethanes are disinfection-byproducts formed during ozonation and chlorine/chloramine treatment of waters that contain bromide ion and natural organic matter. In this study, the chemical kinetics of the free-radical-induced degradations of a series of halonitromethanes were determined. Absolute rate constants for hydroxyl radical, *OH, and hydrated electron, e(aq)-, reaction with both chlorinated and brominated halonitromethanes were measured using the techniques of electron pulse radiolysis and transient absorption spectroscopy. The bimolecular rate constants obtained, k (M(-1) s(-1)), for e(aq)-/*OH, respectively, were the following: chloronitromethane (3.01 +/- 0.40) x 10(10)/(1.94 +/- 0.32) x 10(8); dichloronitromethane (3.21 +/- 0.17) x 10(10)/(5.12 +/- 0.77) x 10(8); bromonitromethane (3.13 +/- 0.06) x 10(10)/(8.36 +/- 0.57) x 10(7); dibromonitromethane (3.07 +/- 0.40) x 10(10)/(4.75 +/- 0.98) x 10(8); tribromonitromethane (2.29 +/- 0.39) x 10(10)/(3.25 +/- 0.67) x 10(8); bromochloronitromethane (2.93 +/- 0.47) x 10(10)/(4.2 +/- 1.1) x 10(8); bromodichloronitromethane (2.68 +/- 0.13) x 10(10)/(1.02 +/- 0.15) x 10(8); and dibromochloronitromethane (2.95 +/- 0.43) x 10(10) / (1.80 +/- 0.31) x 10(8) at room temperature and pH approximately 7. Comparison data were also obtained for hydroxyl radical reaction with bromoform (1.50 +/- 0.05) x 10(8), bromodichloromethane (7.11 +/- 0.26) x 10(7), and chlorodibromomethane (8.31 +/- 0.25) x 10(7) M(-1) s(-1), respectively. These rate constants are compared to recently obtained data for trichloronitromethane and bromonitromethane, as well as to other established literature data for analogous compounds.  相似文献

The separation of the minor actinides from dissolved nuclear fuel remains a major challenge in developing large-scale waste separations processes. One important criterion is that all these processes must be robust under high acidity and radiation dose conditions. Here we have investigated the TRUEX ligand CMPO in dodecane, comparing the effects of gamma (60Co) with alpha irradiation using isotopic alpha sources (244Cm, 211At). The radiolytically-based CMPO decomposition efficiencies are approximately the same for both types of radiolysis, with the overall decomposition being significantly less when this formulation is irradiated in contact with aqueous acid.  相似文献

The area enclosed by hysteresis loops in a periodically forced bistable microscopic system at zero-temperature is examined by using the time dependent Hellmann-Feynman theorem and the Fourier grid Hamiltonian recipe for solving time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Effects of non-zero temperatures are explored with reference to a symmetric double well potential. The barrier crossing or, relaxation rates are shown to correlate systematically with the area of the loop. The possible use of hysteresis loop area in designing field parameters for optimal control is suggested.  相似文献

The effect of dopant cesium (Cs(I)) over a concentration range from 1 to 10 mol% on the growth process, morphology, thermal and optical properties of tri(thiourea)zinc(II) sulfate (ZTS) single crystals grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique has been investigated. Incorporation of Cs(I) into the crystal lattice was well confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The lattice parameters of the as-grown crystals were obtained by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The reduction in the intensities observed in powder X-ray diffraction patterns of doped specimen and slight shifts in vibrational frequencies in fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR) indicate the lattice stress as a result of doping. Thermal studies reveal the purity of the material and no decomposition is observed up to the melting point. High transmittance is observed in the visible region and the cut-off λ is ~280 nm. The surface morphology of the as-grown specimens was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the host crystal is enhanced greatly in the presence of high concentrations of the dopant.  相似文献

A solvent-free mechanochemical route for the preparation of poly(2,5-dimethoxyaniline) hydrochloride nanostructures is developed and reported in the article. High conductivity, good crystallinity, and nanostructured morphology are observed for the prepared polymer. This polymeric powder is utilized as a cathode material in hybrid supercapacitor and its electrochemical performance is evaluated and discussed in this short report. The maximum specific capacitance of the poly(2,5-dimethoxyaniline) hydrochloride/activated carbon hybrid supercapacitor is found to be 125 F g−1 at 1 mA cm−2 current density. The cell delivers a specific energy as high as 50 Wh kg−1 at a specific power of 97 W kg−1 and also exhibits an excellent cycle performance with more than 99% coulombic efficiency and the maintenance of 85% of its initial capacitance after 1,000 cycles.  相似文献

A new material based on Er(3+)-exchanged zeolite L crystals, in which oxygen vacancies have been generated, is proposed as an efficient emitter in the near infrared third telecommunication window. The rare earth ions photoluminescence is efficiently generated by energy transfer from the excited oxygen vacancies, which act as wide range light harvesters. The proposed material can be excited in the whole Near UV-VIS-NIR spectral range from 355 to 700 nm, thus representing the first step toward versatile, zeolite based NIR sources that can be excited with white light.  相似文献

Single crystals of benzophenone-2-furoyl hydrazone are grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique from ethanol at room temperature. It belongs to monoclinic system with the space group P21/c and the cell parameters are, a = 6.1631(3) Å, b = 13.1397(8) Å, c = 18.0030(11) Å and V = 1457.72(14) Å3. NMR spectral studies reveal the structure and powder XRD indicates the crystallinity of the specimen. The characteristic functional groups present in the molecule are confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The crystals are transparent in the visible region having a lower optical cut-off at ∼406 nm and the band gap energies are estimated by the application of Kubelka–Munk algorithm. Thermal analysis by TG/DTA indicates the stability of the material. The scanning electron microscopy studies reveal the surface morphology of the as-grown crystal. Theoretical calculations were performed using Hartree–Fock method with 6-31G(d,p) as the basis set for to derive the optimized geometry, dipole moment and first-order molecular hyperpolarizability (β) values.  相似文献
