First, the characteristics of low-velocity conveying of particles having different hardness are experimentally investigated in a horizontal pipeline in terms of flow pattern and pressure drop to show that the slug flow can be classified into two types depending on the settling of particles along the pipeline, and the period is small for slug flow without the settled layer, which is called solitary slug flow. The pressure drop for soft particles is shown to be larger than that for hard particles. Then, experimental results are presented on horizontal fluidized-bed conveying of fine powders to show that air release from the top surface of the conveying channel is an imnortant factor for high mass flow rate of particles. 相似文献

Vaporized fuel concentration in a spray-guided direct-injection spark-ignition (SG-DISI) engine was measured using an optical
sensor installed in a spark plug. A laser infrared absorption method was applied to quantify the instantaneous gasoline concentration
near the spark plug. This paper discusses the feasibility of obtaining in situ air–fuel ratio measurements with this sensor
installed inside an SG-DISI engine cylinder. First, the effects of the spray plume from a multi-hole injector on the vaporized
fuel concentration measurements near the spark-plug sensor were examined using a visible laser. We determined the best position
for the sensor in the engine, which was critical due to the spray and vapor plume formation. Then, a 3.392-μm He–Ne laser
that coincided with the absorption line of the hydrocarbons was used as a light source to examine the stratified mixture found
during ultra-lean engine operation. A combustible mixture existed around the spark plug during the injection period when a
preset air–fuel ratio of 45.0 was used with different fuel injection timings and net mean effect pressure conditions. The
effects of the orientation of the spark plug on the measured results and ignitability of the SG-DISI engine were examined.
Orienting the spark plug vertically to one of the spray plumes provided more accurate results and better engine reliability.
The study demonstrated that it was possible to qualify the air–fuel ratio near the spark plug during the injection period
using the developed spark-plug sensor in an SG-DISI engine. 相似文献

Sulfonium‐containing polymers prepared from dibenzothiophene and diphenyl sulfide were applied as both alkylating agents and latent initiators for the cationic polymerization of glycidyl phenyl ether. The alkylation of acetonitrile proceeded smoothly with poly(S‐n‐octyl‐2‐vinyldibenzothiophenium tetrafluoroborate) ( 4 ; 64 mol % octyldibenzothiophenium tetrafluoroborate unit) to give N‐(n‐octyl)acetamide in an excellent yield on the basis of the starting octyldibenzothiophenium tetrafluoroborate unit in 4 . Heme oxygenase (HO) catalyzes the oxygen-dependent degradation of heme to biliverdinIXalpha, CO, and free iron ion via three sequential monooxygenase reactions. Although the distinct active-site structure of HO from cytochrome P450 families suggests unique distal protein machinery to activate molecular oxygen, the mechanism and the key amino acid for the oxygen activation have not been clear. To investigate the functionality of highly conserved polar amino acids in the distal helix of HO-1, we have prepared alanine mutants: T135A, R136A, D140A, and S142A, and found drastic changes in the heme degradation reactions of D140A. In this paper, we report the first evidence that D140 is involved in the oxygen activation mechanism in HO-1. The heme complexes of HO mutants examined in this study fold and bind heme normally. The pK(a) values of the iron-bound water and autoxidation rates of the oxy-form are increased with R136A, D140A, and S142A mutations, but are not changed with T135A mutation. As the wild-type, T135A, R136A, and S142A degrade heme to verdohemeIXalpha with H(2)O(2) and to biliverdinIXalpha with the NADPH reductase system. On the other hand, D140A heme complex forms compound II with H(2)O(2), and no heme degradation occurs. For the NADPH reductase system, the oxy-form of D140A heme complex is accumulated in the reaction, and only 50% of heme is degraded. The stopped flow experiments suggest that D140A cannot activate iron-bound dioxygen and hydroperoxide properly. To investigate the carboxylate functionality of D140, we further replaced D140 with glutamic acid (D140E), phenylalanine (D140F), and asparagine (D140N). D140E degrades heme normally, but D140N shows reactivity similar to that of D140A. D140F loses heme degradation activity completely. All of these results indicate that the carboxylate at position 140 is essential to activate the iron-bound dioxygen and hydroperoxide. On the basis of the present findings, we propose an oxygen activation mechanism involving the hydrogen-bonding network through the bridging water and D140 side chain. 相似文献

During development tests of the LE-7A prototype engine, severe side-loads were observed. The side-load peaks appeared only
in certain limited conditions during start-up and shut-down transients. To investigate phenomena causing those severe side-loads
observed in the LE-7A prototype engine nozzle, series of cold-flow tests and hot-firing tests as well as CFD analyses were
conducted. As a result of the hot-firing tests, two different phenomena were found to cause severe side-loads in the LE-7A
prototype engine nozzle. One was a restricted shock separation (RSS) flow structure and the other was a phenomenon termed
“separation jump,” the rapid movement of the separation location in the vicinity of the step. A step was installed in the
LE-7A prototype to supply film-cooling gas. Hot-firing test results showed that RSS can occur for a limited mixture ratio.
Detailed flow structure of RSS on the nozzle surface was revealed by the cold-flow tests. Measured pressures and visualized
images of cold-flow tests clarified the mechanism causing the separation jump. The key phenomenon ruling the separation jump
was found to be the base flow behind the step. Based on the results of the present study, the latest LE-7A engine nozzle design
has been changed to eliminate the severe side-load.

In our experiment, two channels of a 3 cm long periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) waveguide are used to generate the nondegenerate spontaneous parametric down conversion (NSPDC) photon pairs. We experimentally obtained the highly efficient polarization-entangled photon pairs by coherently combining two NSPDC processes, and keeping the phase stable over 30 min.
