A high energy atomic cluster undergoing frequent structural isomerization behaves like a liquid droplet, from which atoms or molecules can be emitted. Even after evaporation, the daughter cluster may still keep changing its structure. We study the dynamics of such an evaporation process of atomic evaporation. To do so, we develop a statistical rate theory for dissociation of highly nonrigid molecules and propose a simple method to calculate the absolute value of classical phase-space volume for a potential function that has many locally stable basins. The statistical prediction of the final distribution of the released kinetic energy is also developed. A direct application of the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassed-Marcus (RRKM) theory to this kind of multichannel chemical reaction is prohibitively difficult, unless further modeling and/or assumptions are made. We carry out a completely nonempirical statistical calculation for these dynamical quantities, in that nothing empirical is introduced like remodeling (or reparametrization) of artificial potential energy functions or recalibration of the phase-space volume referring to other "empirical" values such as those estimated with the molecular dynamics method. The so-called dividing surface is determined variationally, at which the flux is calculated in a consistent manner with the estimate of the phase-space volume in the initial state. Also, for the correct treatment of a highly nonrigid cluster, the phase-space volume and flux are estimated without the separation of vibrational and rotational motions. Both the microcanonical reaction rate and the final kinetic energy distribution thus obtained have quite accurately reproduced the corresponding quantities given by molecular dynamics calculations. This establishes the validity of the statistical arguments, which in turn brings about the deeper physical insight about the evaporation dynamics.  相似文献

The temperature and heat capacity of isolated atomic clusters are studied in terms of an ab initio statistical theory of kinetic energy distribution by atomic evaporation. Two definitions of canonical temperature are examined and numerically compared: One is based on the most probable kinetic energy release (KER), whereas the other is determined with use of the entire distribution of the KER. The mutual relationship and their advantages are discussed.  相似文献

Superfluidity of Λ hyperons in neutron star cores is investigated by a realistic approach to use reliable ΛΛ interactions and the effective mass of Λ based on the G-matrix calculations. It is found that Λ superfluid can exist at - (t d) with t - 20(0 being the nuclear density) and d - (3 – 4.5)0, depending on hyperon core models.  相似文献

A serious difficulty in the semiclassical Ehrenfest theory for nonadiabatic transitions is that a path passing across the avoided crossing is forced to run on a potential averaged over comprising adiabatic potential surfaces that commit the avoided crossing. Therefore once a path passes through the crossing region, it immediately becomes incompatible with the standard view of "classical trajectory" running on an adiabatic surface. This casts a fundamental question to the theoretical structure of chemical dynamics. In this paper, we propose a non-Born-Oppenheimer path that is generated by an anti-Hermitian Hamiltonian, whose complex-valued eigenenergies can cross in their real parts and avoid crossing in the imaginary parts in the vicinity of the nonadiabatic transition region. We discuss the properties of this non-Born-Oppenheimer path and thereby show its compatibility with the Born-Oppenheimer classical trajectories. This theory not only allows the geometrical branching of the paths but gives the nonadiabatic transition amplitudes and quantum phases along the generated paths.  相似文献

The nonadiabatic nuclear wavepacket dynamics on the coupled two lowest (1)Σ(+) states of the LiF molecule under the action of a control pulse is investigated. The control is achieved by a modulation of the characteristics of the potential energy curves using an infrared field with a cycle duration comparable to the time scale of nuclear dynamics. The transition of population between the states is interpreted on the basis of the coupled nuclear wavepacket dynamics on the effective potential curves, which are transformed from the adiabatic potential curves with use of a diabatic representation that diagonalizes the dipole-moment matrix of the relevant electronic states. The basic feature of the transition dynamics is characterized in terms of the notion of the collision between the dynamical crossing point and nuclear wavepackets running on such modulated potential curves, and the transition amplitude is mainly dominated by the off-diagonal matrix element of the time-independent electronic Hamiltonian in the present diabatic representation. The importance of the geometry dependence of the intrinsic dipole moments as well as of the diabatic coupling potential is illustrated both theoretically and numerically.  相似文献

Kinematic effects associated with movements of molecular frames, which specify instantaneous orientation of molecules, is investigated in structural isomerization dynamics of a triatomic cluster whose total angular momentum is zero. The principal-axis frame is employed to introduce the so-called principal-axis hyperspherical coordinates, with which the mechanism of structural isomerization dynamics of the cluster is systematically analyzed. A force called "democratic centrifugal force" is extracted from the associated kinematics. This force arises from an intrinsic non-Euclidean metric in the internal space and has an effect of distorting the triatomic cluster to a collapsed shape and of trapping the system around collinear transition states. The latter effect is particularly important in that the kinematics effectively makes a basin at the saddle (transition state) on the potential surface. Based on this framework, we study the effect of the gauge field associated with the Eckart frame in internal space, which has not been carefully examined in the conventional reaction rate theories. Numerical comparison between the dynamics with and without the gauge field has revealed that this field has an effect to suppress the rate of isomerization reaction to a considerable amount. Thus a theory neglecting this effect will significantly overestimate the rate of isomerization. We show the physical origin of this suppressing effect.  相似文献

Ordered aromatic polyamides and copolyamides were prepared by the polycondensation of terephthaloyl and isophthaloyl dichlorides with symmetrical diamines containing preformed amide linkages derived from unsymmetrical methyl—substituted aromatic diamines at low temperature. Thermal properties and solubilities of the ordered polyamides were compared with those of the corresponding random polyamides. There was little difference between thermal stabilities of the ordered polyamide and the corresponding random one, while the former was less soluble in organic solvents than the latter, depending on the extent of hydrogen bonding of the amide groups. The thermal stability of the alternating copolyamides containing both terephthaloyl and isophthaloyl groups as acid components was less than that of the corresponding homopolymers having either a terephthaloyl or an isophthaloyl group, and the solubility of the former resembled that of the corresponding ordered homopolysiophthalamides in accord with the extent of hydrogen bonding of the amide groups in both polymers.  相似文献

The validity range of the Born-Oppenheimer (BO) approximation is studied with respect to the variation of the mass (m) of negatively charged particle by substituting an electron (e) with muon (mu) and antiproton (p) in hydrogen molecule cation. With the use of semiclassical quantization applied to these (ppe), (ppmu), and (ppp) under a constrained geometry, we estimate the energy difference of the non-BO vibronic ground state from the BO counterpart. It is found that the error in the BO approximation scales to the power of 3/2 to the mass of negative particles, that is, m(1.5). The origin of this clear-cut relation is analyzed based on the original perturbation theory due to Born and Oppenheimer, with which we show that the fifth order term proportional to m(5/4) is zero and thereby the first correction to the BO approximation should arise from the sixth order term that is proportional to m(6/4). Therefore, the validity range of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation is wider than that often mistakenly claimed to be proportional to m(1/4).  相似文献

We study a very simple method to incorporate quantum-mechanical symmetries, including the permutational symmetry on an equal footing with spatial symmetries, into the semiclassical calculation of correlation functions. This method is applied to the calculation of energy spectra to verify its validity by reproducing quantum energy levels for systems of bosons (symmetrized) and fermions (antisymmetrized). The mechanism of how the phase-space structure of classical dynamics is linked with the relevant quantum symmetry is discussed.  相似文献
