Plasma-driven inflation

The possibility of inflation without any genuine scalar is discussed. It is suggested that drops of primordial plasma may drive inflation. The model, although naive, is consistent with observational data.     

Nontrivial Solutions for Resonant Hemivariational Inequalities

We study a resonant semilinear elliptic hemivariational inequality. Under some assumptions of strong resonance on the Clarke subdifferential of the superpotential, and using nonsmooth critical point theory, the existence of a nontrivial solution of the problem is shown. Interpolation of Bilinear Operators Between Quasi-Banach Spaces

We study interpolation, generated by an abstract method of means, of bilinear operators between quasi-Banach spaces. It is shown that under suitable conditions on the type of these spaces and the boundedness of the classical convolution operator between the corresponding quasi-Banach sequence spaces, bilinear interpolation is possible. Applications to the classical real method spaces, Calderón-Lozanovsky spaces, and Lorentz-Zygmund spaces are presented. Natural Operators Lifting Vector Fields to Bundles of Weil Contact Elements

Let A be a Weil algebra. The bijection between all natural operators lifting vector fields from m-manifolds to the bundle functor K ^A of Weil contact elements and the subalgebra of fixed elements SA of the Weil algebra A is determined and the bijection between all natural affinors on K ^A and SA is deduced. Furthermore, the rigidity of the functor K ^A is proved. Requisite results about the structure of SA are obtained by a purely algebraic approach, namely the existence of nontrivial SA is discussed.     

Inorganic Sol-Gel Preparation of Medium Sized Microparticles of Li2TiO3 from TiCl4 as Tritium Breeding Material for Fusion Reactors

Microspheres of Li₂TiO₃ were fabricated by a classical, inorganic sol-gel process from commercially available TiCl₄. Elaborated process consists of the following main steps: (1) dissolving of TiCl₄ in concentrated aqueous HCl and addition of LiOH; (2) formation of sol emulsion in 2-ethylhexanol-1 containing the surfactant SPAN-80 (EH); (3) gelation of emulsion drops by extraction of water with partially dehydrated EH; (4) impregnation of gel to Li:Ti molar ratio MR = 2; (5) thermal treatment at 1200°C in order to receive chloride free product. This temperature can be significantly lowered (to 750°C) by dechlorination starting solution TiCl₄ by chemical treatment of the with nitric acid to form of nitrate-stabilized titania sols. Tritium release from sol-gel made Li₂TiO₃ microspheres were found very close to that observed for other traditional materials, however for the first sample process starts slightly earlier.     

On essential extensions of reduced rings and domains

A ring is said to be a left essential extension of a reduced ring (domain) if it contains a left ideal which is a reduced ring (domain) and intersects nontrivially every nonzero twosided ideal of the ring. We prove that every ring which is a left essential extension of a reduced ring is a subdirect sum of rings which are essential extensions of domains, but the converse implication does not hold. We give some applications of this result and discuss several related questions.Received: 6 January 2003     

Effect of Ga doping on magneto-transport properties in colossal magnetoresistive La0.7Ca0.3Mn1−xGaxO3 (0<x<0.1)

Samples of La_0.7Ca_0.3Mn_1−xGa_xO₃ with x=0, 0.025, 0.05 and 0.10 were prepared by standard solid-state reaction. They were first characterized chemically, including the microstructure. The magnetic properties and various transport properties, i.e. the electrical resistivity, magnetoresistivity (for a field below 8 T), thermoelectric power and thermal conductivity measured each time on the same sample, are reported. The markedly different behaviour of the x=0.1 sample from those with a smaller Ga content, is discussed. The dilution of the Mn³⁺/Mn⁴⁺ interactions with Ga doping considerably reduces the ferromagnetic double exchange interaction within the manganese lattice leading to a decrease of the Curie temperature. The polaron binding energy varies from 224 to 243 meV with increased Ga doping.     

Multinuclear magnetic resonance study of some mesoionic oxatriazoles containing nitrogenous exocyclic groups

¹H,¹³C,¹⁴N and¹⁵N NMR measurements are reported for four mesoionic 1-oxa-2, 3, 4-triazoles containing exocyclic nitrogenous groups. The NMR signal assignments are discussed and compared with those previously published for some corresponding oxatriazoles. The results obtained support the proposed cyclic mesoionic structures for the compounds studied. The questions of possible charge delocalization and valence tautomerism are addressed. Compound with N^– H as a exocyclic group (Fig. 1) is found to be relatively unstable, this is attributed to proton migration in the corresponding non-cyclic form of this molecule.Published in Khimiya Geterotsikiicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 9, pp. 1260–1263, September, 1995.     

On quartics with three-divisible sets of cusps

 We study the geometry and codes of quartic surfaces with many cusps. We apply Gr?bner bases to find examples of various configurations of cusps on quartics. Leggett-Williams norm-type theorems for coincidences

We study the existence of positive solutions to the operator equation Lx = Nx, where L is a linear Fredholm mapping of index zero and N is a nonlinear operator. Using the properties of cones in Banach spaces and Leray-Schauder degree for completely continuous operators, k-set contractions and condensing mappings, we obtain some refinements of the results established in [3] and [14].
