Molybdic-acid catechol complexes can be extracted from acidic aqueous solutions by organic solvents, if organic basic compounds are added. Results with tetraphenyl arsonium chloride were especially favourable.

Summary The working characteristics of a fluoride-sensitive electrode and the influence of foreign substances on the fluoride potentials were tested. Changes in potential can be diminished by masking or buffering. Furthermore, a special addition technique can be applied.

Synthesis of optically active natural carotenoids and structurally related compounds. III. Synthesis of (+)-abscisic acid, (?)-xanthoxin, (?)-loliolide, (?)-actinidiolide, and (?)-dihydroactinidiolide The syntheses of (+)-abscisic acid ( 1 ), (?)-xanthoxin ( 2 ), (?)-loliolide ( 3 ), (?)-actinidiolide ( 4 ), and of (?)-dihydroactinidiolide ( 5 ) from one common starting material are reported. The syntheses yield also some enantiomeric or diastereomeric analogues.     

Synthese eines verbrückten π-allyl-chinolin-palladiumchlorid-komplexes

Chloro[N-3′5′-η-(4′-methylpentenyl)quinoline-2]palladium was synthesized; the NMR-spectrum of this compound is helpful in distinguishing the cis/trans-isomers of other non-bridged π-allyl-base-palladium chloride complexes.     

A remark on the Born–Oppenheimer approximation

The method of calculating wave functions for an electron-nucleon system by a variational method originally suggested by Born and Oppenheimer [1] is rigorously investigated. As an application we sketch the calculation of a simple nonadiabatic wave function for the system.
