Polystyrene, cross-linked with 7.8% of divinylbenzene, formed a stable complex in chloroform with boron trifluoride containing 0.11% of boron, while cross-linked polystyrene-4-vinylpyridine resins containing 2–2.5% of pyridine rings formed a stable complex with boron trifluoride, containing 1.04% of boron. Both complexes catalyze conversions of aromatic aldehydes, ketones, and acids with alcohols into corresponding acetals, cyclic ketals, and esters; diphenylmethanol converts into ether. The structure of the alcohol plays an important role, with conversions decreasing in the order 1-butanol, 2-butanol, tert-butanol. Both complexes are very stable and in most cases more reactive than the cross-linked polystyrene-A1C13 complex. 相似文献

Summary A violinoid and a 2,3-dihydrobilindione chromophore is attachedvia an appendix anchored at rings A of the pigments by means of reacting them with the polyacryl-N-acryloxysuccinimid copolymer to yield water-soluble chromopolymers. They are characterized by a molecular mass of about 4000 to 6000 and a relation of one chromophoric unit per 6 to 22 monomers. Their absorption spectra and circular dichroism recorded in water and dimethylsulfoxide as solvents are discussed with respect to structural aspects, and in comparison with monomeric chromophore derivatives.

A bent‐core mesogen consisting of a 4‐cyanoresorcinol unit as the central core and laterally fluorinated azobenzene wings forms four different smectic LC phase structures in the sequence SmA–SmCs–SmCsPAR–M, all involving polar SmCsPS domains with growing coherence length of tilt and polar order on decreasing temperature. The SmA phase is a cluster‐type de Vries phase with randomized tilt and polar direction; in the paraelectric SmCs phase the tilt becomes uniform, although polar order is still short‐range. Increasing polar correlation leads to a new tilted and randomized polar smectic phase with antipolar correlation between the domains (SmCsPAR) which then transforms into a viscous polar mesophase M. As another interesting feature, spontaneous symmetry breaking by formation of a conglomerate of chiral domains is observed in the non‐polar paraelectric SmCs phase. 相似文献

Summary. Recombinant Escherichia coli overexpressing Pseudomonas sp. NCIMB 9872 cyclopentanone monooxygenase (CPMO, EC 1.14.13.16) and Acinetobacter sp. NCIMB 9871 cyclohexanone monooxygenase (CHMO, EC 1.14.13.22) have been utilized in whole-cell Baeyer-Villiger biotransformations of prochiral bicycloketones. A significant difference in substrate acceptance and stereoselectivity was
observed for bicyclo[3.3.0] and bicyclo[4.3.0] substrates. A plausible mechanism of these transformations was established
by means of high level DFT/B3LYP calculations suggesting an essential difference in electronic requirements for a successful
enzymatic conversion, which was similarly encountered in recombinant whole-cell mediated biooxidations. Some of the lactones
