An individual Mn acceptor in GaAs is mapped by cross-sectional scanning tunneling microscopy (X-STM) at room temperature and a strongly anisotropic shape of the acceptor state is observed. An acceptor state manifests itself as a cross-like feature which we attribute to a valence hole weakly bound to the Mn ion forming the (Mn2+3d5+hole) complex. We propose that the observed anisotropy of the Mn acceptor wavefunction is due to the d-wave present in the acceptor ground state.  相似文献

This study investigates whether the salience of the pitch associated with a single reflection of a broadband sound, such as noise, is determined by the monaural information mediated by the stimuli at the two ears, or by the relative locations of the primary sound and the reflection. Pitch strength was measured as a function of the reflection delay and the lateral displacement between the primary sound and the reflection. Thereby, lateral displacement was produced by means of interaural time differences (ITDs) in experiment 1 and interaural level differences (ILDs) in experiment 3. The results from both experiments are in accordance with the assumption that the strength of the pitch associated with a reflection is based on a central average of the internal representations of the stimuli at the two ears. This notion was corroborated by experiment 2, which showed that the results from experiment 1 could be mimicked by simply adding the stimuli from the two ears and presenting the merged stimulus identically to both ears.  相似文献

Coherent backscattering (CBS) of light in random media has been previously investigated by use of coherent light sources. Here we report a novel method of CBS measurement that combines low spatial coherence, broadband illumination, and spectrally resolved detection. We show that low spatial coherence illumination leads to an anomalously broad CBS peak and a dramatic speckle reduction; the latter is further facilitated by low temporal coherence detection. Thus CBS can be observed in biological tissue and other media that previously were beyond the reach of conventional CBS measurements. We also demonstrate, for the first time to our knowledge, spectroscopic analysis of CBS. CBS spectroscopy may find important applications in probing random media such as biological tissue in which depth-selective measurements are crucial.  相似文献

Coherent combining is demonstrated in a clad-pumped Yb-doped double-core fiber laser. A slope efficiency of more than 70% is achieved with 96% of the total output power in the fundamental mode of one of the two cores. This high combining efficiency is obtained when both cores are coupled via a biconical fused taper in a Michelson interferometer configuration.  相似文献

Bi3.99Ti2.97V0.03O12 (BTV) thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition at substrate temperatures ranging between 650 and 750 °C. The structural phase, and orientation of the deposited films were investigated in order to understand the effect of the deposition parameters on the properties of the BTV films. As the substrate temperature was increased to 700 °C, the films started showing a tendency of assuming a c-axis preferred orientation, while at lower temperatures polycrystalline films were formed. The Au/BTV/Pt capacitor showed an interesting dependence of the remnant polarization (Pr) as well as dc leakage current values on the growth temperature. The film deposited at 675 °C showed a very large 2Pr of 42 μC cm−2, which is the largest for BTV thin films among the values reported so far.  相似文献

Objective: We have shown that High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) can effectively control bleeding from injuries to solid organs such as liver, spleen, and lung. Achievement of hemostasis was augmented when a homogenate of tissue and blood was formed. The objective of this study was to investigate quantitatively the effect of homogenate production on HIFU application time for hemostasis. Possible mechanisms involved in homogenate production were also studied.Methods: Ten anesthetized rabbits had laparotomy and liver exposure. Liver incisions, 15-25 mm long and 3-4 mm deep, were made followed immediately by HIFU application. Two electrical powers of 80 and 100 W corresponding to focal acoustic intensities of 2264 and 2829 W/cm2, respectively were used. Tissue and homogenate temperatures were measured. Smear and histological tissue sample analysis using light microscopy were performed.Results: In treatments with homogenate formation, hemostasis was achieved in 76 ± 1.3 s (Mean ± Standard Error Mean: SEM) at 80 W. In treatments without homogenate formation (at 80 W), hemostasis was achieved in 106 ± 0.87 s. At 100 W, hemostasis was achieved in 46 ± 0.3 s. The time required for homogenate formation, at 80 and 100 W were 60 ± 2.5 and 23 ± 0.3 s, respectively. The homogenate temperature was 83 °C (SEM 0.6 °C), and the non-homogenate tissue temperature at the treatment site was 60 °C (SEM 0.4 °C). The smear and histological analysis showed significant blood components and cellular debris in the homogenate, with some intact cells.Conclusion: The HIFU-induced homogenate of blood and tissue resulted in a statistically significant shorter HIFU application time for hemostasis. The incisions with homogenate had higher temperatures as compared to incisions without homogenate. Further studies of the correlation between homogenate formation and temperature must be done, as well as studies on the long-term effects of homogenate in achieving hemostasis.  相似文献

Well-defined nanostructures were written with quantum dots and magnetic nanoparticles on gold and mica surfaces using dip-pen nanolithography at room temperature. The structures with both the nanoparticles were characterised by in situ topography measurements, and the quantum dot structures were mapped by fluorescence mapping. It is demonstrated that structures of various kinds such as dots and lines can be prepared using such nanoparticles on suitably prepared surfaces.  相似文献

We demonstrate the phenomenon of Talbot self-image plane shift by tuning the wavelength of the broadband light source. A superluminescent diode (SLD) is used as a broad-band light source and an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) as wavelength-scanning device. A periodic grating is illuminated by the wavelength tuned light of SLD using AOTF and Talbot self-image plane is shifted continuously in the longitudinal direction without mechanically moving the grating. The wavelength-scanning Talbot effect is then implemented for the measurement of arbitrary step-height of discontinuous objects with extended range. The main advantages of the proposed system are non-mechanical scanning, high stability because of it’s common-path geometry and compactness. Since the measurement of the phase is not required the system is free from phase ambiguity problem and therefore, the range of measurement is large as compare to interferometric techniques.  相似文献

Tri-state logic plays a significant role in carry free arithmetical operation. Design of all-optical scheme of three basic tri-state logical operation (NOT, AND, OR) with the help of polarization encoded semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-assisted Sagnac interferometric switch has been studied and investigated in this present paper. Numerical simulation is also presented, which verifies the theoretical results. Insertion loss, contrast ratio, extinction ratio, amplitude modulation, bit error rate and signal to noise ratio values have also been analyzed.  相似文献
