We report very low temperature ( T) thermopower and resistivity ( rho) measurements on variable-density, two-dimensional hole systems confined to GaAs quantum wells. As the hole density is lowered from 1.49x10(11) cm(-2) to 0.14x10(11) cm(-2), the system crosses from an insulating ( drho / dT less, similar0) to a metallic regime ( drho / dT>0) and finally displays insulating behavior ( drho / dT<0). Diffusion thermopower shows a striking sign reversal in a narrow range of density in the metallic regime, suggesting a qualitative change in the conduction or the scattering mechanism. 相似文献

We develop the theory of higher prolongations of algebraic varieties over fields in arbitrary characteristic with commuting
Hasse-Schmidt derivations. Prolongations were introduced by Buium in the context of fields of characteristic 0 with a single
derivation. Inspired by work of Vojta, we give a new construction of higher prolongations in a more general context. Generalizing
a result of Buium in characteristic 0, we prove that these prolongations are represented by a certain functor, which shows
that they can be viewed as ‘twisted jet spaces.’ We give a new proof of a theorem of Moosa, Pillay and Scanlon that the prolongation

The development of a novel nucleophilic thio‐bromo “Click” reaction, specifically base‐mediated thioetherification of thioglycerol with α‐bromoesters was reported in an earlier article. The combination of this thio‐bromo click reaction with subsequent acylation with 2‐bromopropionyl bromide provides an iterative two‐step divergent growth approach to the synthesis of a new class of poly(thioglycerol‐2‐ propionate) (PTP) dendrimers. In this article, the addition of a third step, the single‐electron transfer living radical polymerization (SET‐LRP) of methyl acrylate (MA), was shown to provides access to a three‐step “branch” and “grow” divergent approach to dendritic macromolecules wherein poly(methyl acrylate) (PMA) connects the branching subunits. The effect of initial ligand concentration on the apparent rate constant of propagation of single‐electron transfer living radical polymerization (SET‐LRP) of MA in DMSO at 25 °C was examined using various lengths of Cu(0) wire as catalyst. It was determined that unlike other parameters such as initiator concentration, solvent concentration, and deactivator concentration, no simple external rate‐order for the ligand concentration could be determined. Rather, the response of the rate of SET‐LRP to initial ligand concentration is complex and is likely determined by a competition of ligand‐dependent extent of disproportionation as well as the role of ligand concentration in the surface mediated activation process. Results suggest that a minimum concentration of ligand is needed to achieve both acceptable reaction rate and reaction control, and therefore, ligand concentration must be considered in designing experimental conditions for SET‐LRP. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Holographic imaging offers a reliable and fast method to capture the complete three-dimensional (3D) information of the scene from a single perspective. We review our recently proposed single-channel optical system for generating digital Fresnel holograms of 3D real-existing objects illuminated by incoherent light. In this motionless holographic technique, light is reflected, or emitted from a 3D object, propagates through a spatial light modulator (SLM), and is recorded by a digital camera. The SLM is used as a beamsplitter of the single-channel incoherent interferometer, such that each spherical beam originated from each object point is split into two spherical beams with two different curve radii. Incoherent sum of the entire interferences between all the couples of spherical beams creates the Fresnel hologram of the observed 3D object. When this hologram is reconstructed in the computer, the 3D properties of the object are revealed. 相似文献
