Thermal and chemical equilibrium for vaporizing sources

Vaporized sources produced in collisions between ³⁶Ar and ⁵⁸Ni at 95 MeV per nucleon have been detected with the multidetector INDRA. Complete information concerning the deexcitation properties of quasi-projectiles, including second moments of chemical composition, is compared to a quantum statistical model describing a gas of fermions and bosons in thermal and chemical equilibrium. Inclusions in the calculation of all known discrete levels of nuclear species which deexcite into light particles and of a final state excluded volume interaction are found decisive to very well reproduce the experimental data, which strongly supports that thermodynamical equilibrium was achieved at freeze-out for such sources. Inclusive and exclusive measurements in the projectile breakup of 7Li

The inclusive and exclusive measurements were carried out for ⁷Li projectile breakup on ²⁷Al target at 48 MeV. In the inclusive data we have observed a broad peak around the beam velocity for alphas and tritons. The exclusive data for alpha-triton coincidences show good agreement with the post-form DWBA theory of breakup reactions.     

Effect of alpha-tocopherol on pulmonary antioxidant defence system and lipid peroxidation in cigarette smoke inhaling mice

Background  

Free radicals generated in biological systems by cigarette smoke (CS) inhalation can cause oxidative stress in tissues, resulting in lipid peroxidation (LPO). In view of the antioxidant properties of α-tocopherol (AT), in the present study, effects of AT on antioxidant defence system and LPO were investigated in mice inhaling CS for different time intervals.     

Geometrical Aspects of the Incorporation of Free Space in Magnetomechanics at Finite Strains

This paper addresses the modeling of finite magnetoelasticity with a particular focus on the incorporation of free space energy storage and magnetic body forces. First, a coordinate-invariant formulation of an extended Neo-Hookean model with magnetostrictive coupling is presented. Then, a finite element model for finite magnetomechanics based on a variational stationarity principle is formulated.
