We present a generative swarm art project that creates 3D animations by running a Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm over synthetic landscapes produced by an objective function. Different kinds of functions are explored, including mathematical expressions, Perlin noise-based terrain, and several image-based procedures. A method for displaying the particle swarm exploring the search space in aesthetically pleasing ways is described. Several experiments are detailed and analyzed and a number of interesting visual artifacts are highlighted.  相似文献

A mixed valence system may be described by two hybridized bands: a narrow one with strong Coulomb interaction and a conduction band. We study this model by means of a decimation method originally developed for a linear chain and recently extended to a Bethe lattice. Different values of the hybridization are compared. The densities of states so obtained exhibit a more detailed structure than equivalent CPA calculations.  相似文献

We consider locally conformal Kähler geometry as an equivariant (homothetic) Kähler geometry: a locally conformal Kähler manifold is, up to equivalence, a pair (K,Γ), where K is a Kähler manifold and Γ is a discrete Lie group of biholomorphic homotheties acting freely and properly discontinuously. We define a new invariant of a locally conformal Kähler manifold (K,Γ) as the rank of a natural quotient of Γ, and prove its invariance under reduction. This equivariant point of view leads to a proof that locally conformal Kähler reduction of compact Vaisman manifolds produces Vaisman manifolds and is equivalent to a Sasakian reduction. Moreover, we define locally conformal hyperKähler reduction as an equivariant version of hyperKähler reduction and in the compact case we show its equivalence with 3-Sasakian reduction. Finally, we show that locally conformal hyperKähler reduction induces hyperKähler with torsion (HKT) reduction of the associated HKT structure and the two reductions are compatible, even though not every HKT reduction comes from a locally conformal hyperKähler reduction.  相似文献

Previous reports from our laboratory have shown that thyroid hormones induce changes in the fluidity and permeability of phospholipid bilayers and modify the transmembrane dipolar organization according to their iodine content. The interactions of T2, T3, and T4 with a model membrane of dilauroylphosphatidylcholine in the liquid‐crystalline phase were analyzed by confocal Raman spectroscopy. Insights into the nature of the hormone effects on the membrane properties, as well as the structural adaptations of the hormones in response to the lipid environment were derived from the spectral changes. The series of progressive iodine substituents on the ring‐β allowed us to correlate the hormone effects according to the number and the orientation of the iodine atoms. T4 was responsible for producing the highest alteration in the hydrophobic region of the membrane. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ultrathin films of Al2O3 deposited on Si were submitted to rapid thermal annealing in vacuum or in oxygen atmosphere, in the temperature range from 600 to 800 degrees C. Nuclear reaction profiling with subnanometric depth resolution evidenced mobility of O, Al, and Si species, and angle-resolved x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed the formation of Si-Al-O compounds in near-surface regions, under oxidizing atmosphere at and above 700 degrees C. Under vacuum annealing all species remained essentially immobile. A model is presented based on diffusion-reaction equations capable of explaining the mobilities and reproducing the obtained profiles.  相似文献

Results are presented on and production in p–W and S–W interactions at 200 GeV/c/nucleon measured via the dimuon decay in a large kinematic region. The data are normalized to the charged particle multiplicity in the same rapidity interval. They have been collected using the HELIOS/3 muon spectrometer at the CERN SPS. The ratio , where is the relevant resonance branching fraction, increases between proton and sulphur projectiles, and is somewhat enhanced going from peripheral to central S–W interactions. This results from an increase in the number of produced 's per charged particle. The ratio is measured in different intervals of p and rapidity. It is not clearly dependent on p, but is larger at higher rapidities. production, likewise normalized to charged multiplicity, is significantly lower in S–W compared to p–W interactions. We report on the results obtained from the study of the 32S +74Ge deep inelastic reaction at incident energy E= 320 MeV. High-energy γ-rays were detected in an array of 6 seven-pack BaF2 clusters. Coincidence with complex fragments detected in 12 three-stage telescopes ensured the selection of peripheral reaction events. In order to investigate the pre-equilibrium dipole strength excitation two independent analyses were performed. In the first analysis the energy spectra of the γ-rays were evaluated in the statistical model framework while in the second one the γ-ray fragment angular correlation with respect to the nuclear spin vector of the composite system was studied. Both methods indicate the excitation of dipole strength in the highly deformed dinucleus and provide dipole resonance parameter sets that are in good agreement with each other. The scaling of the average gyration radius of polymers as a function of their length can be experimentally determined from ensemble measurements, such as light scattering, and agrees with analytical estimates. Ensemble techniques, yet, do not give access to the full probability distributions. Single molecule techniques, instead, can deliver information on both average quantities and distribution functions. Here we exploit the high resolution of atomic force microscopy over long DNA molecules adsorbed on a surface to measure the average end-to-end distance as a function of the DNA length, and its full distribution function. We find that all the scaling exponents are close to the predicted 3D values (upsilon=0.589+/-0.006 and delta=2.58+/-0.77). These results suggest that the adsorption process is akin to a geometric projection from 3D to 2D, known to preserve the scaling properties of fractal objects of dimension df<2.  相似文献

In view of the growing interest for non-destructive tests of materials, geodynamical monitoring and in general remote sensing, there is a great effort to bring practical optical sensors from research labs to industrial and environmental applications. In this paper, we employ digital holographic technique as an efficient tool for evaluating the strain measurement capability of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). A cantilever beam has been employed as a test structure under loading test. The strain measurements results obtained by fiber-based sensors have been compared to those obtained by using full-field digital holographic technique and point-wise strain gauge sensors glued on the same cantilever beam. A simple theoretical model is also presented to interpret and compare the experimental results coming from different techniques.  相似文献
