Bachus et al. [1] recently described a new derivatisation method using 2-furoyl chloride for the characterisation of mixtures of polyethoxylated alcohols and their corresponding sulfates. This paper deals with the control of the derivatisation steps; hydrolysis and extraction conditions were optimised. The method is extended to the characterisation of alkyl sulfosuccinates, alkyl sulfoacetates and alkyl phosphates and to the analysis of residual polyethoxylated alcohols in surfactants. Extraction of non-ionic compounds using solid-phase extraction cartridges was performed before derivatisation. Residual amounts of alcohol were determined in five commercial anionic surfactants. Moreover, direct derivatisation without preliminary SPE in the same anionic surfactants proved to be efficient for dry samples.  相似文献

It is known that the algebra of Schur operators on ?2 (namely operators bounded on both ?1 and ?) is not inverse-closed. When ?2=?2(X) where X is a metric space, one can consider elements of the Schur algebra with certain decay at infinity. For instance if X has the doubling property, then Q. Sun has proved that the weighted Schur algebra Aω(X) for a strictly polynomial weight ω is inverse-closed. In this paper, we prove a sharp result on left-invertibility of the these operators. Namely, if an operator AAω(X) satisfies ‖Afp?‖fp, for some 1?p?∞, then it admits a left-inverse in Aω(X). The main difficulty here is to obtain the above inequality in ?2. The author was both motivated and inspired by a previous work of Aldroubi, Baskarov and Krishtal (2008) [1], where similar results were obtained through different methods for X=Zd, under additional conditions on the decay.  相似文献

We consider the problem of improving outcomes for neurosurgery patients by enhancing intraoperative navigation and guidance. Current navigation systems do not accurately account for intraoperative brain deformation. We focus on the brain shift deformation that occurs just after the opening of the skull and dura. The heart of our system is a nonrigid registration technique using a biomechanical model. We specifically work on two axes: the representation of the structures in the biomechanical model and the evaluation of the surface landmark displacement fields between intraoperative MR images. Using the modified Hausdorff distance as an image similarity measure, we demonstrate that our approach significantly improves the alignment of the intraoperative images.  相似文献

Summary Defensins are small cationic peptides involved in innate immunity and are components of the first line of defence against invading pathogens. β-defensins are a subgroup of the defensin family that display a particular cysteine spacing and pattern of intramolecular bonding. These molecules are produced mostly by epithelia lining exposed surfaces and appear to have both antimicrobial and cell signalling functions. The unusually high degree of sequence variation in the mature peptide produced by the paralogous and in some cases orthologous genes implies extensive specialisation and species specific adaptation. Here we review recent functional data that are an important addition to our knowledge of the innate immune response and novel antibiotic design. We also consider the organisation and evolution of the genomic loci harbouring these genes where radical and rapid changes in β-defensin sequences have been shown to result from the interplay of both positive and negative selection. Consequently these genes provide some unusually clear glimpses of the processes of duplication and specialisation that have shaped the mammalian genome.  相似文献

Abstract

The properties of nematic and cholesteric Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) with ellipsoidal droplets are reported. The shape of the droplets are modified by a shear stress during the preparation. Different values of the shear stress were used which permit an ellipticity ratio modification by a factor 10. The electro-optical properties are measured for different types of samples and compared with theoretical previsions: transmission or reflection under voltage, threshold voltage, response times. We also describe the preparation of the sample, the experimental apparatus used for the shear stress, and the expected theoretical quantities like response times. When the liquid crystals are nematics, we obtain an increase of the threshold voltages, as predicted. The relaxation time decreases with increasing deformation but the diminution is not as great as predicted. When the liquid crystals are cholesterics, the high deformations induce polygonal fields, which strongly modify the electro-optical properties of the micro-composite. The threshold voltages and response time at applied voltage decrease whereas the relaxation time is increasing.  相似文献

A two-channel mirror reflecting both Fe-IX/X (λ = 17.1 nm) and He-II (30.4 nm) resonance lines at near normal incidence has been designed, fabricated and characterized. These two passbands are often chosen in space instruments designed for the observation of the solar corona. The mirror structure used for optimization is a superposition of two periodic multilayers with three components per period. It has been designed by using optimization software with an appropriate merit function. The theoretical reflectivity for both resonance lines can reach 0.25. It is shown that, by using a set of filters, one can select either the Fe-IX/X or the He-II channel. The spectral response of the two-channel mirror has been measured on synchrotron radiation source on a large wavelength range, from 12 nm to 35 nm. Experimental reflectivity reaches 0.32 for the Fe-IX/X line and 0.19 for the He-II line.  相似文献

This Letter demonstrates the transporting and focusing of laser-accelerated 14 MeV protons by permanent magnet miniature quadrupole lenses providing field gradients of up to 500 T/m. The approach is highly reproducible and predictable, leading to a focal spot of (286 x 173) microm full width at half maximum 50 cm behind the source. It decouples the relativistic laser-proton acceleration from the beam transport, paving the way to optimize both separately. The collimation and the subsequent energy selection obtained are perfectly applicable for upcoming high-energy, high-repetition rate laser systems.  相似文献

Thin films of a tailor-made photodecomposible aryltriazene polymer were applied in a modified laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) process as sacrificial release layers. The photopolymer film acts as an intermediate energy-absorbing dynamic release layer (DRL) that decomposes efficiently into small volatile fragments upon UV laser irradiation. A fast-expanding pressure jet is generated which is used to propel an overlying transfer material from the source target onto a receiver. This DRL-assisted laser direct-write process allows the precise deposition of intact material pixels with micrometer resolution and by single laser pulses. Triazene-based photopolymer DRL donor systems were studied to derive optimum conditions for film thickness and laser fluences necessary for a defined transfer process at the emission wavelength of a XeCl excimer laser (308 nm). Photoablation, surface detachment, delamination and transfer behavior of aryltriazene polymer films with a thickness from 25 nm to ∼400 nm were investigated in order to improve the process control parameters for the fabrication of functional thin-film devices of microdeposited heat- and UV-sensitive materials.  相似文献

The intrinsic properties of tetrazine as a π-anion receptor and as an on/off recognition probe merged with H-bond ability of an urea motif into a single architecture constitutes a new generation of well-defined anion receptors. Complexation properties directly benefit from the dual and synergistic contribution of tetrazine and urea. In this study, we report on the synthesis and assessment of binding properties to anions of diverse geometries. Association constants have been predicted by theoretical calculations and evaluated by multiple and complementary experimental techniques including electrospray-mass tandem spectroscopy, NMR, UV-visible, steady state fluorescence spectroscopies and time resolved fluorescence. These results provide the basis for a better understanding of both the complexation and the anion-dependent quenching mechanism.  相似文献
