Nuclear structure effect in internal conversion of the 166 kev hinderedM1 transition in139La

The internal conversion coefficients were calculated for the 165.853 keV 5/2⁺7/2⁺ hindered transition in ₅₇ ¹³⁹ La using the new computer program NICC for conversion coefficients of all atomic shells. The algorithm employed in this code is described. The analysis of precise experimental data yielded the nuclear penetration parameter=4.2±0.8. This value was found to be in accord with theoretical estimates and to correspond to the Nilsson deformation parameter=–0.056±0004 of the¹³⁹La nucleus. Using the Nilsson wave functions for above the mixing ratio ² = N(E2)/N(M1) was determined to be less than 8.10^–5, which supports the assumption of a pureM1 multipolarity of this transition.Presented at the 26th All-Union Conference on Nuclear Spectroscopy and Nuclear Structure (February 1976, Baku, USSR).We are obliged to Dr. B. Magnetic moments and the high field susceptibilities of MnFe2O4

An extended version of the noncollinear spin model bySawatzky et al. is developed to derive a dependence of the differential high field susceptibility on the degree of inversion of the ferrite MnFe₂O₄. Using the available data on the main molecular field coefficients it is shown that the present model imposes restrictions on values of. Determination of from the measurements of the field dependence of the saturated moments at low temperatures on samples with varying degrees of inversion reveals good quantitative agreement with the present model.     

A model of oxide film originating at thermal oxidation of GaAs

In this paper an approximative procedure to determine of the most probable model of oxide film originating at thermal oxidation of GaAs single-crystal samples within the temperature range 480–530 °C is proposed. It is shown that the system presented is more complicated if compare with that presumed previously.

The preparation, identification and some properties of three new clathrate compounds Cd(mea)[Pd(CN)₄] · 2C₆H₆, Cd(mea)₂[Pd(CN)₄] · C₄H₄S and Cd(mea)₂[Pd(CN)₄] · C₄H₄NH (mea = HO-CH₂-CH₂-NH₂) are described.

     

Gould-Jacobs reaction of 6-amino-2,3-diphenylquinoxaline

Summary Catalytic hydrogenation of 2,3-diphenyl-6-nitroquinoxaline led to the corresponding amine1 which in turn afforded products3a-i on reaction with alkoxymethylene derivatives2a-i. Thermal cyclization of3b and3f yielded substituted pyrazinoquinolones5b and5f, respectively. Optimal conditions for the successful hydrolysis of ester5b were found. The structures of all products were deduced from their IR, UV,¹H, and¹³C NMR spectroscopic data.Dedicated to Prof.F. Sauter on the occasion of his 65th birthday     

Extraction of Am(III) in the presence of lanthanides and yttrium by benzyldimethyldodecylammonium nitrate from acidic nitrate solutions

We have investigated the effect of coextraction of lanthanides and yttrium on the distribution coefficients D_Am in the extraction of americium by benzyldimethyldodecylammonium nitrate (BDMLNNO₃) from nitrate solutions. In the coextraction of lanthanides, the extraction of Am(NO₃)₃ is suppressed, which is markedly manifested in the extraction of light lanthanides (La, Ce, Pr); of the series of lanthanides their extraction is the highest. The effect of nitric acid and the possibility of separation of lanthanides and americium by the application of three-stage multiple extraction is discussed.     

EPR study of free radicals in a main chain thermotropic polymer

Free radicals were generated in a rigid rod-like copolymer via mechanical route and by gamma radiation. The (EPR) method was used for studying free radicals formed at 123 K. The spectra of free radicals observed and the influence of molecular motions on the transport of radical centers in the fracture surface layer are discussed.     

IR-Spektren der Caesium-bis-sulfato-metallate(III)

Compounds of the type CsLn(SO₄)₂, (Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) were prepared at 300°C. IR spectra were recorded in the range 4,000-250cm^–1 and tentatively assigned. The number of observed bands exceeds the predicted number by site symmetry selection rules. Streching bands show bathochromic shifts whereas the deformations exibit hypsochromic shifts on going to heavier lanthanides. At the same time there is an increased splitting of these bands in the same direction. All these facts indicate an increased coupling in the layer structure which is in accordance with the lanthanide contraction.

Syntheses and properties of mixed dinuclear copper(II) complexes with heterocyclic dithiocarbamates and a cyclic octadentate tertiary amine

Five new Cu^II complexes of general formula [Cu₂(Rdtc)tpmc](ClO₄)₃, (1)–(5), where tpmc and Rdtc ^– refer to N,N,N,N-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4,8,11-teraazacyclotetradecane and piperidine- (Pipdtc), 4-morpholine- (Morphdtc), 4-thiomorpholine- (Timdtc), piperazine- (Pzdtc) or N-methylpiperazine- (N-Mepzdtc) dithiocarbamates, respectively, have been prepared. Elemental analyses, conductometric and magnetic measurements, u.v./vis, i.r., e.p.r. and mass spectroscopy have been employed to characterize them. The complexes adopt an exo coordination of Cu^II ions and tpmc. The dithiocarbamate ion joins both the sulphur and the copper atoms acting as a bridging ligand The presence of different heteroatoms in the piperidine ring influences the (C=N) and (C=S) vibrations which decrease in the order of the complexes: Pipdtc>N-Mepipdtc>Pzdtc>Morphdtc>Timdtc ligands. Attention has been paid to the detailed mechanism of the mass spectral fragmentation of the complexes. The g _eff factors of the complexes have been also estimated by e.p.r. spectra. Finally, the complexes obtained demonstrate microbiologycal activity against some bacteria.     

Distribution of fallout radionuclides through soil surface layer

The distribution of¹³⁷Cs through soil layers has been investigated by field sampling. The investigation deals with¹³⁷Cs concentration found after the Chernobyl accident. The relationship between important soil characteristics, total precipitation and cesium distribution are analyzed. Cesium is strongly sorbed in the top soil layer and its migration downward is limited. Measurements performed over a 3-year period revealed that approximately 20–38 per cent of total¹³⁷Cs is located in the upper soil layer.
