This paper considers the structure of weakly nonlinear steady-state convection patterns in shallow rectangular planform containers heated from below. The lateral dimensions of the container are assumed to be much larger than the characteristic wavelength of convection, and the lateral boundaries are subject to forcing equivalent, for example, to imperfect thermal insulation in the Rayleigh–Benard problem. This has the effect of generating rolls parallel and perpendicular to the lateral boundaries. The resulting patterns are modelled by a coupled pair of nonlinear amplitude equations derived from a phenomenological model of convection introduced by Swift and Hohenberg [Phys. Rev. A15 (1977) 319]. These equations are applicable in the weakly nonlinear limit to a variety of pattern-forming systems such as the Rayleigh–Benard system. Solutions are found using both numerical and asymptotic methods. The boundary imperfection is shown to give rise to some novel effects, including the possibility of patterns containing square cells. More generally, patterns evolve that are dominated by rolls but with transitions to more complex bimodal forms near the edges of the container. The emergence and structure of transition lines, or grain boundaries, is analysed in detail. 相似文献

Synthesis of the first oxaphosphirane chromium(0) and molybdenum(0) complexes of the type [{(R(1)PCH(R(2))-O}M(CO)(5)] (R(1) = C(5)Me(5)) (8a-e, 15a-e) and (R(1) = CH(SiMe(3))(2)) (9a-e, 16a-e) via reaction of dichloro(organo)- (1, 2, 10, 11) and chloro(organo)phosphane complexes (3,4,12) with lithium bases and aldehydes 7a-e is reported. Furthermore, bicyclic 1,3-oxaphospholane complexes 17 and 18 have been obtained via O-protonation of oxaphosphirane complexes 8a and 15a with HCl. We report a method for studying nanoparticle-biosensor surface interactions based on total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy. We demonstrate that this simple technique allows for high throughput screening of non-specific adsorption (NSA) of nanoparticles on surfaces of different chemical composition. Binding events between fluorescent nanoparticles and functionalized Zeonor? surfaces are observed in real-time, giving a measure of the attractive or repulsive properties of the surface and the kinetics of the interaction. Three types of coatings have been studied: one containing a polymerized aminosilane network with terminal -NH(2) groups, a second film with a high density of -COOH surface groups and the third with sterically restraining branched poly(ethylene)glycol (PEG) functionality. TIRF microscopy revealed that the NSA of nanoparticles with negative surface charge on such modified coatings decreased in the following order -NH(2)>-branched PEG>-COOH. The surface specificity of the technique also allows discrimination of the degree of NSA of the same surface at different pH. 相似文献

The framework of ab initio density-functional theory (DFT) has been introduced as a way to provide a seamless connection between the Kohn-Sham (KS) formulation of DFT and wave-function based ab initio approaches [R. J. Bartlett, I. Grabowski, S. Hirata, and S. Ivanov, J. Chem. Phys. 122, 034104 (2005)]. Recently, an analysis of the impact of dynamical correlation effects on the density of the neon atom was presented [K. Jankowski, K. Nowakowski, I. Grabowski, and J. Wasilewski, J. Chem. Phys. 130, 164102 (2009)], contrasting the behaviour for a variety of standard density functionals with that of ab initio approaches based on second-order M?ller-Plesset (MP2) and coupled cluster theories at the singles-doubles (CCSD) and singles-doubles perturbative triples [CCSD(T)] levels. In the present work, we consider ab initio density functionals based on second-order many-body perturbation theory and coupled cluster perturbation theory in a similar manner, for a range of small atomic and molecular systems. For comparison, we also consider results obtained from MP2, CCSD, and CCSD(T) calculations. In addition to this density based analysis, we determine the KS correlation potentials corresponding to these densities and compare them with those obtained for a range of ab initio density functionals via the optimized effective potential method. The correlation energies, densities, and potentials calculated using ab initio DFT display a similar systematic behaviour to those derived from electronic densities calculated using ab initio wave function theories. In contrast, typical explicit density functionals for the correlation energy, such as VWN5 and LYP, do not show behaviour consistent with this picture of dynamical correlation, although they may provide some degree of correction for already erroneous explicitly density-dependent exchange-only functionals. The results presented here using orbital dependent ab initio density functionals show that they provide a treatment of exchange and correlation contributions within the KS framework that is more consistent with traditional ab initio wave function based methods. 相似文献

The geometries, harmonic frequencies, elec-tronic excitation levels, and energetic orderings of various conformers of RDX have been computed at the ab initio MP2 and CCSD(T) levels, providing more reliable results than have been previously obtained. We observe that the various local minimum-energy conformers are all competitive for being the absolute minimum and that, at reasonable temperatures, several conformers will appreciably contribute to the population of RDX. As a result, we have concluded that any mechanistic study to investigate thermal decomposition can reasonably begin from any one of the cyclohexane conformers of RDX. As such, it is necessary to consider the transition states for each RDX conformer to gauge what the activation energy is. Homolytic bond dissociation has long been speculated to be critical to detonation; we report here the most accurate estimates of homolytic BDEs yet calculated, likely to be accurate within 3 kcal mol(-1). The differences in energy for homolytic BDEs among all the possible RDR conformers are again small, such that most all of the conformers can reasonably be speculated as the next step in the mechanism starting from the RDR radical. 相似文献

Although the molecules of the title compounds form extended chains via hydrogen bonding in all three forms, owing to the presence of different solvent molecules, those chains are connected differently in the individual forms. In (II), the molecules are all coplanar, while in (I) and (III), adjacent molecules are tilted relative to one another to varying degrees. Identification of tumors which over-express Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) is important in selecting patients for anti-EGFR therapies. Enzymatic bioconjugation was used to introduce positron-emitting radionuclides (89Zr, 64Cu) into an anti-EGFR antibody fragment for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging the same day as injection. A monovalent antibody fragment with high affinity for EGFR was engineered to include a sequence that is recognized by the transpeptidase sortase A. Two different metal chelators, one for 89ZrIV and one for 64CuII, were modified with a N-terminal glycine to enable them to act as substrates in sortase A mediated bioconjugation to the antibody fragment. Both fragments provided high-quality PET images of EGFR positive tumors in a mouse model at 3 hours post-injection, a significant advantage when compared to radiolabeled full antibodies that require several days between injection of the tracer and imaging. The use of enzymatic bioconjugation gives reproducible homogeneous products with the metal complexes selectively installed on the C-terminus of the antibody potentially simplifying regulatory approval.Enzymatic bioconjugation to introduce positron-emitting radionuclides (89Zr, 64Cu) into an anti-EGFR antibody fragment allows same day imaging with positron emission tomography. 相似文献

Cancer-based magnetic theranostics has gained significant interest in recent years and can contribute as an influential archetype in the effective treatment of cancer. Owing to their excellent biocompatibility, minute sizes and reactive functional surface groups, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are being explored as potential drug delivery systems. In this study, MgFe2O4 ferrite MNPs were evaluated for their potential to augment the delivery of the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX). These MNPs were successfully synthesized by the glycol-thermal method and functionalized with the polymers; chitosan (CHI), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), respectively, as confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the formation of the single-phase cubic spinel structures while vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis confirmed the superparamagnetic properties of all MNPs. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) revealed small, compact structures with good colloidal stability. CHI-MNPs had the highest DOX encapsulation (84.28%), with the PVA-MNPs recording the lowest encapsulation efficiency (59.49%). The 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) cytotoxicity assays conducted in the human embryonic kidney (HEK293), colorectal adenocarcinoma (Caco-2), and breast adenocarcinoma (SKBR-3) cell lines showed that all the drug-free polymerized MNPs promoted cell survival, while the DOX loaded MNPs significantly reduced cell viability in a dose-dependent manner. The DOX-CHI-MNPs possessed superior anticancer activity (<40% cell viability), with approximately 85.86% of the drug released after 72 h in a pH-responsive manner.
