Two-dimensional photonic crystal lasers have been fabricated on III–V semiconductor slabs. Tuning of the spontaneous emission in micro and nanocavities has been achieved by accurate control of the slab thickness. Different structures, some of them of new application to photonic crystal lasers, have been fabricated like the Suzuki-phase or the coupled-cavity ring-like resonators. Laser emission has been obtained by pulsed optical pumping. Optical characterization of the lasing modes have been performed showing one or more laser peaks centred around 1.55 μm. Far field characterization of the emission pattern has been realized showing different patterns depending on the geometrical shape of the structures. These kinds of devices may be used as efficient nanolaser sources for optical communications or optical sensors.  相似文献

We investigate the thermal conductivity of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) either isolated or in contact with external media by using equilibrium molecular dynamics and the Boltzmann transport equation. We show that, contrary to existing controversies, both methods yield a finite value of the thermal conductivity for infinitely long tubes, as opposed to the case of 1D, momentum-conserving systems. Acoustic and flexure modes with mean free paths of the order of a few microns are identified as major contributors to the high value of SWCNT conductivity. We also find that the interaction with an external medium may substantially decrease the lifetime of the low-frequency vibrations, reducing the thermal conductivity by up to 2 orders of magnitude.  相似文献

In this paper we develop a data-driven hierarchical clustering methodology to group the economic sectors of a country in order to highlight strongly coupled groups that are weakly coupled with other groups. Specifically, we consider an input-output representation of the coupling among the sectors and we interpret the relation among sectors as a directed graph; then we recursively apply the spectral clustering methodology over the graph, without a priori information on the number of groups that have to be obtained. In order to do this, we resort to the eigengap criterion, where a suitable number of groups is selected automatically based on the intensity and structure of the coupling among the sectors. We validate the proposed methodology considering a case study for Italy, inspecting how the coupling among clusters and sectors changes from the year 1995 to 2011, showing that in the years the Italian structure underwent deep changes, becoming more and more interdependent, i.e., a large part of the economy has become tightly coupled.  相似文献

This paper presents an efficient numerical technique for solving a class of time-fractional diffusion equation. The time-fractional derivative is described in the Caputo form. The L1 scheme is used for discretization of Caputo fractional derivative and a collocation approach based on sextic B-spline basis function is employed for discretization of space variable. The unconditional stability of the fully-discrete scheme is analyzed. Two numerical examples are considered to demonstrate the accuracy and applicability of our scheme. The proposed scheme is shown to be sixth order accuracy with respect to space variable and (2 − α)-th order accuracy with respect to time variable, where α is the order of temporal fractional derivative. The numerical results obtained are compared with other existing numerical methods to justify the advantage of present method. The CPU time for the proposed scheme is provided.  相似文献

Abstract

Time-resolved emissions of Csl:T1 are investigated. The system is laser-excited in the A-band at 308 nm and the emissions are observed in the range 370–650 nm, from 30 K to 300 K. Their analysis by means of a deconvolution permits the valuation of decay-times down to 1 ns. At every temperature many bands are observed and some of them show slow and fast components. The decay-times of the fast components are in the range 1–10 ns while the slow ones are even longer than 1 μs. In many cases intermediate decay-times of the order of 100 ns exist. The competition among the bands interests the application of this system as active material for tunable solid-state laser.  相似文献
