Synthesis and cationic photopolymerization of new fluorinated,polyfunctional propenyl ether oligomers

New fluorinated, polyfunctional propenyl ether functionalized resins were synthesized, and their behavior in cationic photopolymerization was investigated. The photopolymerization proceeded efficiently with a high double‐bond conversion (>90%), giving rise to UV‐cured coatings characterized by low glass‐transition temperatures (?33 °C ≤ glass‐transition temperature ≤ ?15 °C) and hydrophobic surface properties. A fluorinated additive was also employed as a reactive additive in the cationic photopolymerization of trimethylolpropane tripropenyl ether, increasing the double‐bond conversion, polymer network flexibility, thermal stability, and surface hydrophobicity. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Assessment of filtered gas–solid momentum transfer models via a linear wave propagation speed test

The propagation speeds of linear waves in gas–solid suspensions depend strongly on the solids volume fraction and the wave frequency. The latter is due to gas–solid momentum transfer and allows a simple test on filtered gas–solid momentum transfer models. Such models may predict linear wave propagation speeds different from those obtained with the non-filtered model at wave frequencies higher than the filter frequency, but not at wave frequencies lower than the filter frequency.     

Stable hysteretic reflection of light at a nonlinear interface

We have observed a hysteretic (bistable) reflection of a Gaussian laser beam at the interface between glass and a liquid solution of polystyrene microspheres as nonlinear medium with both branches of the hysteretic curve being stable, in contrast to the results of previous experiments.     

Decomposition theorems in orthomodular posets: the problem of uniqueness

We provide some conditions which are equivalent to the uniqueness of Hewitt-Yosida-type decomposition and Lebesgue-type decomposition for real valued additive functions defined on orthomodular posets.

     

Policy and program of a university reactor institute

Policy and program of activities are described of the Interfaculty Reactor Institute (IRI) in Delft. Underlying considerations are discussed, including factors such as direct public interests and political appreciation of the activities. Attention is paid particularly to the further development of the reactor associated experimental facilities.     

Inclusive\bar K^{0*} (892) andK 0*(892) production on silicon by 200 GeVK − andπ −

The production of the neutralK ^? (892) resonances by 200 GeVK ^? andπ ^? has been studied over the kinematic range 0.0<x _f<1.0 andp _t ² <5.0 GeV². Longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions are presented. In addition the decay angular distributions inK ^? fragmentation to \(\bar K^{0*} \) have been investigated.
