A three-core polarization splitter based on a square-lattice photonic-crystal fiber is presented. The component separates the input field into two orthogonally polarized beams that are coupled to the horizontal and vertical output ports. The splitter has been designed through modal and beam propagation analysis by employing high-performance codes based on the finite-element method. In this paper we develop a data-driven hierarchical clustering methodology to group the economic sectors of a country in order to highlight strongly coupled groups that are weakly coupled with other groups. Specifically, we consider an input-output representation of the coupling among the sectors and we interpret the relation among sectors as a directed graph; then we recursively apply the spectral clustering methodology over the graph, without a priori information on the number of groups that have to be obtained. In order to do this, we resort to the eigengap criterion, where a suitable number of groups is selected automatically based on the intensity and structure of the coupling among the sectors. We validate the proposed methodology considering a case study for Italy, inspecting how the coupling among clusters and sectors changes from the year 1995 to 2011, showing that in the years the Italian structure underwent deep changes, becoming more and more interdependent, i.e., a large part of the economy has become tightly coupled. 相似文献

The intensity of the carbon signal in a CPMAS experiment has been measured for two CH and three CH(2) moieties in four test molecules under different phase-modulated proton decoupling conditions and as a function of the spinning rate. The proton decoupling schemes investigated were the golden standard TPPM and three of the GTn family. Aim of this analysis was to better describe experimentally the impact and limitations of phase-modulated decoupling. Sizeable differences in the response to decoupling were observed in otherwise chemically identical molecular fragments, such as the CHCH(2) found in tyrosine, phenyl-succinic acid or 9-Anthrylmethyl-malonate, probably due to differences in spin-diffusion rates. In keeping with known facts, the efficiency of the decoupling was observed to decrease with the MAS rate, but with somewhat different trends for the tested systems. 相似文献

We consider a basic model of digital memory where each cell is composed of a reflecting medium with two possible reflectivities. By fixing the mean number of photons irradiated over each memory cell, we show that a nonclassical source of light can retrieve more information than any classical source. This improvement is shown in the regime of few photons and high reflectivities, where the gain of information can be surprising. As a result, the use of quantum light can have nontrivial applications in the technology of digital memories, such as optical disks and barcodes. 相似文献

We examine baryonic matter at a quark chemical potential of the order of the confinement scale μ(q)~Λ(QCD). In this regime, quarks are supposed to be confined but baryons are close to the "tightly packed limit" where they nearly overlap in configuration space. We show that this system will exhibit a percolation phase transition when varied in the number of colors N(c): at high N(c), large distance correlations at the quark level are possible even if the quarks are essentially confined. At low N(c), this does not happen. We discuss the relevance of this for dense nuclear matter, and argue that our results suggest a new "phase transition," varying N(c) at constant μ(q). 相似文献
