The Transmission Problem of Viscoelastic Waves

In this paper we consider the transmission problem of viscoelastic waves. That is, we study the wave propagations over materials consisting of elastic and viscoelastic components. We show that for this types of materials the dissipation produced by the viscoelastic part is strong enough to produce exponential decay of the solution, no matter how small is its size. We also show that the linear model is well posed.     

Micro-Effects on Continuous-Injection Heat Conduction Calorimetry

A localized-constant model involving two capacities reliably describes two injection calorimeters: a mass-variation calorimeter and a constant-volume calorimeter (TAM 2277 by Thermometric). The model distinguishes the place and the types of dissipation, and its parameters depend on the rates and on the heat capacities of the liquids. In the case of the TAM 2277 calorimeter, the dependence between the detected heat of mixing and the injection rate is revealed. The proposed model permits the inclusion of perturbations on the baseline originating from the temperature variation of the thermostat. On the classes of spaces

The two better-known ways of understanding the notion of local unconditional structure allow us to define successive extensions of the well-known class of the spaces of Lindenstrauss and Pelczynski. This paper also studies stability properties of these classes under ultrapowers, biduals and complemented subspaces.

     

Ultraproducts of real interpolation spaces between L p -spaces

Let , be a family of compatible couples of L^p-spaces. We show that, given a countably incomplete ultrafilter in , the ultraproduct of interpolation spaces defined by the real method is isomorphic to the direct sum of an interpolation space of type , an intermediate K?the space between and being a purely atomic measure space, and a K?the function space K(Ω₃) defined on some purely non atomic measure space (Ω₃, ν₃) in such a way that Ω₂ ∪ Ω₃ ≠∅. X-Ray crystallographic and EPR spectroscopic characterization of a pyrrolidine adduct of Y3N@C80

Crystallographic data for the pyrrolidine adduct Y3N@C80C4H9N x 2.5CS2 reveals a slightly pyramidalized Y3N unit with idealized mirror symmetry that straddles the site of addition but does not directly interact with the addend.     

Revisiting the reaction between diaminomaleonitrile and aromatic aldehydes: a green chemistry approach

The reaction between diaminomaleonitrile (DAMN) and aldehydes and the resulting monoimines are well known. Since the standard reaction conditions involve the use of toxic solvents (typically methanol), we have sought to apply green chemistry principles to this reaction by either using water as the solvent without any catalysts or employing "solvent-free" conditions. The monoimines derived from DAMN are of interest as precursors for obtaining different heterocyclic systems and linear polymers. The methodologies used have significant advantages with regards to cost and environmental considerations.
