The phase diagram of the 2D Ising model with anisotropic next-nearest-neighbor and four-spin interactions

In the present paper, the two-dimensional Ising model with anisotropic nearest-neighbor, next-nearest-neighbor and four-spin interactions has been studied. The ground states and energy of the model have been obtained. The model is equivalent to an eight-vertex model on its dual lattice. In some special cases, the model can be solved exactly as a zero-field eight-vertex model or a free-fermion model. Explicit phase diagrams are obtained exactly.     

Stereoselective and efficient total synthesis of optically active tetrodotoxin from D-glucose

A stereoselective and efficient total synthesis of optically active tetrodotoxin (TTX) is described. A polyfunctionalized key cyclitol compound containing branched-chains for the synthesis of TTX was prepared from D-glucose employing the Henry reaction (Nitro aldol reaction) as the key transformation. Stereoselective construction of the alpha-azido-aldehyde branched-chain was achieved via the key spiro alpha-chloroepoxide intermediate.     

F center production in undoped CaF2 crystals by neutron irradiation at low temperature

We observed that F centers were induced in undoped CaF₂ crystals irradiated by neutrons at 18 K.
