Barrelene, H–C(CH=CH)3C–H, is an unsaturated polycyclic hydrocarbon containing three isolated double bonds in a non-planar arrangement. We have studied the transmission of field effects through the barrelene framework by analyzing the small structural changes occurring in the phenyl group of many Ph–C(CH=CH)3C–X molecules, where X is a variable substituent. Molecular geometries have been determined by quantum chemical calculations at the HF/6-31G* and B3LYP/6-311++G** levels of theory. Comparison with the results obtained for the corresponding saturated molecules, the bicyclo[2.2.2]octane derivatives Ph–C(CH2–CH2)3C–X, reveals a small, but significant, field-induced π-polarization of the barrelene cage, especially when the remote substituent is a charged group. Additional evidence of π-polarization is obtained by comparing the electric dipole moments of the two sets of uncharged molecules. The structural variation of the barrelene cage caused by the variable substituent in Ph–C(CH=CH)3C–X molecules has also been investigated. It is much larger than that of the phenyl group and depends primarily on the electronegativity of the substituent. Particularly pronounced is the concerted variation of the non-bonded distance between the bridgehead carbons of the cage, r(C···C) 1 BARR , and the average of the three C–C–C angles at the cage carbon bonded to the variable substituent, α 1 BARR . A scattergram of r(C···C) 1 BARR versus the corresponding parameter for bicyclo[2.2.2]octane derivatives, r(C···C) 1 BCO , shows that the variation of r(C···C) 1 BARR becomes gradually less pronounced than that of r(C···C) 1 BCO as the electronegativity of the substituent increases.  相似文献

The Schmidt reaction is the acid-catalyzed analogue of the Curtius reaction and is extensively used in organic synthesis. In this work, the mechanism of this reaction has been explored using DFT calculations at the B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level. Protonated formyl azide may undergo rearrangement to the product, protonated isocyanic acid, with simultaneous extrusion of molecular nitrogen (concerted mechanism), or undergo rearrangement to the anti conformer, followed by removal of nitrogen to form the nitrenium ion, which then rearranges to the final product, protonated isocyanic acid (step-wise mechanism). Like the Curtius reaction, it is found that the concerted pathway is definitely preferred. The key role of acidification in decreasing the overall energy barrier is more highlighted in case of phenyl substitution, with negligible effect on the lower homologues. For methoxy and amine substituents, there is very little difference in the activation energies of the concerted and step-wise reactions, with the former being still slightly preferred. Unlike the parent compound, the rearrangement of substituted nitrenium ion in some cases involves side reactions like C-H insertion and cyclization.  相似文献

A novel platform for electroanalysis of isoniazid based on graphene-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube as support for iron phthalocyanine (FePc/f-MWCNT) has been developed. The FePc/f-MWCNT composite has been dropped on glassy carbon forming FePc/f-MWCNT/GC electrode, which is sensible for isoniazid, decreasing substantially its oxidation potential to +200 mV vs Ag/AgCl. Electrochemical and electroanalytical properties of the FePc/f-MWCNT/GC-modified electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electrochemical microscopy, and amperometry. The sensor presents better performance in 0.1 mol L?1 phosphate buffer at pH 7.4. Under optimized conditions, a linear response range from 5 to 476 μmol L?1 was obtained with a limit of detection and sensitivity of 0.56 μmol L?1 and 0.023 μA L μmol?1, respectively. The relative standard deviation for 10 determinations of 100 μmol L?1 isoniazid was 2.5%. The sensor was successfully applied for isoniazid selective determination in simulated body fluids.  相似文献

Aqueous lubrication is currently at the forefront of tribological research due to the desire to learn and potentially mimic how nature lubricates biotribological contacts. We focus here on understanding the lubrication properties of naturally occurring polysaccharides in aqueous solution using a combination of tribology, adsorption, and rheology. The polysaccharides include pectin, xanthan gum, gellan, and locus bean gum that are all widely used in food and nonfood applications. They form rheologically complex fluids in aqueous solution that are both shear thinning and elastic, and their normal stress differences at high shear rates are found to be characteristic of semiflexible/rigid molecules. Lubrication is studied using a ball-on-disk tribometer with hydrophobic elastomer surfaces, mimicking biotribological contacts, and the friction coefficient is measured as a function of speed across the boundary, mixed, and hydrodynamic lubrication regimes. The hydrodynamic regime, where the friction coefficient increases with increasing lubricant entrainment speed, is found to depend on the viscosity of the polysaccharide solutions at shear rates of around 10(4) s(-1). The boundary regime, which occurs at the lowest entrainment speeds, depends on the adsorption of polymer to the substrate. In this regime, the friction coefficient for a rough substrate (400 nm rms roughness) is dependent on the dry mass of polymer adsorbed to the surface (obtained from surface plasmon resonance), while for a smooth substrate (10 nm rms roughness) the friction coefficient is strongly dependent on the hydrated wet mass of adsorbed polymer (obtained from quartz crystal microbalance, QCM-D). The mixed regime is dependent on both the adsorbed film properties and lubricant's viscosity at high shear rates. In addition, the entrainment speed where the friction coefficient is a minimum, which corresponds to the transition between the hydrodynamic and mixed regime, correlates linearly with the ratio of the wet mass and viscosity at ~10(4) s(-1) for the smooth surface. These findings are independent of the different polysaccharides used in the study and their different viscoelastic flow properties.  相似文献

We report the observation of an unusual stripe-droplet transition in precompressed Langmuir monolayers consisting of mixtures of poly(ethylene) glycol (PEG) amphiphiles and phospholipids. This highly reproducible and fully reversible transition occurs at approximately zero surface pressure during expansion (or compression) of the monolayer following initial compression into a two-dimensional solid phase. It is characterized by spontaneous emergence of an extended, disordered stripe-like morphology from an optically homogeneous phase during gradual expansion. These stripe patterns appear as a transient feature and continuously progress, involving gradual coarsening and ultimate transformation into a droplet morphology upon further expansion. Furthermore, varying relative concentrations of the two amphiphiles and utilizing amphiphiles with considerably longer ethylene glycol headgroups reveal that this pattern evolution occurs in narrow concentration regimes, values of which depend on ethylene oxide headgroup size. These morphological transitions are reminiscent of those seen during a passage through a critical point by variations in thermodynamic parameters (e.g., temperature or pressure) as well as those involving spinodal decomposition. While the precise mechanism cannot be ascertained using present experiments alone, our observations can be reconciled in terms of modulations in competing interactions prompted by the pancake-mushroom-brush conformational transitions of the ethylene glycol headgroup. This in turn suggests that the conformational degree of freedom represents an independent order parameter, or a switch, which can induce large-scale structural reorganization in amphiphilic monolayers. Because molecular conformational changes are pervasive in biological membranes, we speculate that such conformational transition-induced pattern evolution might provide a physical mechanism by which membrane processes are amplified.  相似文献

The ligand N-(n-propyl)-2-pyridylmethanimine (pyim) and an immobilised analogue of this ligand (MCM-41-pyim) were prepared by the condensation reaction of 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde with either propylamine or aminopropyl groups covalently attached to the ordered mesoporous silica MCM-41. Free and immobilised tetracarbonyl complexes of the type cis-[Mo(CO)4(L)] (L = pyim (1), MCM-41-pyim) were then prepared by microwave-assisted heating of a mixture of Mo(CO)6 and the organic ligand or ligand-silica in toluene at 110 °C for 30-45 min. The products were characterised by NMR spectroscopy (1H, 13C and 29Si, in solution and in the solid state), elemental analysis, N2 adsorption, and FT-IR spectroscopy. When used as catalyst precursors for the epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene by tert-butylhydroperoxide at 55 °C (1 mol% catalyst (Mo), no additional co-solvent), 1,2-epoxy-cyclooctane was obtained as the only reaction product in quantitative yield after 5 h for 1 and 36% yield after 24 h for the supported complex. The use of the ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate as co-solvent led to lower catalytic activities (epoxide selectivity was always 100%) but allowed the catalyst/IL mixtures (homogeneous mixture for IL+1 and a biphasic solid + IL system for IL+MCM-41-pyim/Mo) to be easily recovered and reused in subsequent runs without loss of catalytic performance.  相似文献

Bacterial Ser/Thr kinases modulate a wide number of cellular processes. In Bacillus subtilis , the Ser/Thr kinase PrkC has been shown to induce germination of bacterial spores in response to DAP-type but not Lys-type cell wall muropeptides. Muropeptides are a clear molecular signal that growing conditions are promising, since they are produced during cell wall peptidoglycan remodeling associated with cell growth and division of neighboring bacteria. However, whether muropeptides are able to bind the protein physically and how the extracellular region is able to distinguish the two types of muropeptides remains unclear. Here we tackled the important question of how the extracellular region of PrkC (EC-PrkC) senses muropeptides. By coupling NMR techniques and protein mutagenesis, we exploited the structural requirements necessary for recognition and binding and proved that muropeptides physically bind to EC-PrkC through DAP-moiety-mediated interactions with an arginine residue, Arg500, belonging to the protein C-terminal PASTA domain. Notably, mutation of this arginine completely suppresses muropeptide binding. Our data provide the first molecular clues into the mechanism of sensing of muropeptides by PrkC.  相似文献

Benchmark, full-dimensional calculations on the ground and excited vibrational states for the tetra-, and penta-atomic weakly bound He(2,3)ICl complexes are reported. The representation of the potential energy surfaces includes three-body HeICl potentials parameterized to coupled-cluster singles, doubles, and perturbative triples ab initio data. These terms are important in accurately describing the interactions of such highly floppy systems. The corresponding 6D/9D computations are performed with the multi-configuration time dependent Hartree method, using natural potential fits, and a mode combination scheme to optimize the computational effort in the improved relaxation calculations. For these complexes several low-lying vibrational states are computed, and their binding energies and radial/angular probability density distributions are obtained. We found various isomers which are assigned to different structural models related with combinations of the triatomic isomers, like linear, T-shaped, and antilinear ones. Comparison of these results with recent experimental data is presented, and the quantitative deviations found with respect to the experiment are discussed.  相似文献
