The proton ligand constants of 4-chloro and 4-amino picolinic acid N-oxide and the formation constants of corresponding binary chelates of Cu(II) and Ni(II) have been measured at 30°C and 0.1M ionic strength in varying percentages of dioxane-water, acetone-water, ethanol-water and isopropanol-water. The results are discussed with reference to the change in dielectric constants of water in the presence of organic solvent, change in the structuredness of water, change in hydrogen bonding ability of the organic solvent in water, solvent basicity and proton solvation by organic solvent. The values have been compared with aqueous and mixed aqueous systems of picolinic acid N-oxide and 4-methoxy picolinic acid N-oxide.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of variation in the value of the fine-structure constant (alpha) at high redshifts (recombination > z > 30) on the absorption of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) at 21 cm hyperfine transition of the neutral atomic hydrogen. We find that the 21 cm signal is very sensitive to the variations in alpha and it is so far the only probe of the fine-structure constant in this redshift range. A change in the value of alpha by 1% changes the mean brightness temperature decrement of the CMB due to 21 cm absorption by >5% over the redshift range z < 50. There is an effect of similar magnitude on the amplitude of the fluctuations in the brightness temperature. The redshift of maximum absorption also changes by approximately 5%.  相似文献

It is known that the extension complexity of the TSP polytope for the complete graph \(K_n\) is exponential in n even if the subtour inequalities are excluded. In this article we study the polytopes formed by removing other subsets \({\mathcal {H}}\) of facet-defining inequalities of the TSP polytope. In particular, we consider the case when \({\mathcal {H}}\) is either the set of blossom inequalities or the simple comb inequalities. These inequalities are routinely used in cutting plane algorithms for the TSP. We show that the extension complexity remains exponential even if we exclude these inequalities. In addition we show that the extension complexity of polytope formed by all comb inequalities is exponential. For our proofs, we introduce a subclass of comb inequalities, called (ht)-uniform inequalities, which may be of independent interest.  相似文献

Typhoid fever is a life threatening bacterial infection that remains a major global health concern. This continued high burden associated with significant morbidity and mortality rate demands specific and rapid detection technique. This work reports a new sandwich type fluorescence immunoassay format using polymyxin B, a cationic receptor molecule, as a binder agent while anti-Vi antibody served as the capturing agent for specifically detecting Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi. Anti-Vi IgG antibody raised against Vi–BSA conjugate revealed affinity of 7.779 nM−1 signifying immunodominancy of O-acetyls groups in Vi polysaccharide. The detection limit of the developed assay was around 101 cells mL−1 of Vi expressing Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi with a correlation coefficient (R2) equal to 0.97. Positive response obtained for all the tested serovar Typhi clinical isolates as well as the pathogen spiked blood samples recommended specificity and accuracy of Vi antigen as a biomarker during typhoid fever. The intra- and inter-assay precision with Vi spiked samples were satisfactory revealing coefficient of variance (CV%) with a mean of 4.05% and 5.97% respectively. This may be the novel attempt and constructive report on the fluorescence based detection of Vi antigen of serovar Typhi in the epidemic as well as pandemic outbreaks.  相似文献

The three-phase (vapour + liquid + solid) equilibrium conditions for semi-clathrates formed from three mixtures of (CO2 + N2), in aqueous solutions of tetra-butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB), were measured in an isochoric reactor. The experiments were conducted at temperatures between (281 and 290) K, at pressures between (1.9 and 5.9) MPa and in aqueous TBAB solutions of wTBAB = (0.05, 0.10, and 0.20). The experimental results obtained in this study were compared with previously obtained results for gas hydrates, formed from the same three mixtures of (CO2 + N2) and it was observed that semi-clathrates formed at a substantially lower pressure than did gas hydrates.  相似文献

Understanding plasmonic enhancement of nanoscale magnetic materials is important to evaluate their potential for application. In this study, the Faraday rotation (FR) enhancement of gold coated Fe(2)O(3) nanoparticles (NP) is investigated experimentally and theoretically. The experiment shows that the Faraday rotation of a Fe(2)O(3) NP solution changes from approximately 3 rad/Tm to 10 rad/Tm as 5 nm gold shell is coated on a 9.7 nm Fe(2)O(3) core at 632 nm. The results also show how the volume fraction normalized Faraday rotation varies with the gold shell thickness. From the comparison of experiment and calculated Faraday rotation based on the Maxwell-Garnett theory, it is concluded that the enhancement and shell dependence of Faraday rotation of Fe(2)O(3) NPs is a result of the shifting plasmon resonance of the composite NP. In addition, the clustering of the NPs induces a different phase lag on the Faraday signal, which suggests that the collective response of the magnetic NP aggregates needs to be considered even in solution. From the Faraday phase lag, the estimated time of the full alignment of the magnetic spins of bare (cluster size 160 nm) and gold coated NPs (cluster size 90 nm) are found to be 0.65 and 0.17 μs. The calculation includes a simple theoretical approach based on the Bruggeman theory to account for the aggregation and its effect on the Faraday rotation. The Bruggeman model provides a qualitatively better agreement with the experimentally observed Faraday rotation and points out the importance of making a connection between component properties and the average "effective" optical behavior of the Faraday medium containing magnetic nanoparticles.  相似文献
