Questions about the structures of nitraraine and nitraraidine

Investigations have been carried out in order to give new insights into the real structure of two alkaloids isolated from the Nitraria genus namely nitraraine and nitraraidine. Closely related tangutorine is put forward as a plausible alternative to the structure proposed so far for nitraraine.     

Lexicographic α-robustness: An alternative to min–max criteria

Robustness in Operations Research/Decision Aid is often associated with min–max and min–max regret criteria. This common approach to determine robust solutions consists in finding a solution which minimizes the maximal cost or regret. Nevertheless, these criteria are known to be too conservative. In this paper, we present and study a new robustness approach, called lexicographic α-robustness, which compensates for this major drawback and many others. Furthermore, we establish a link between lexicographic α-robustness and a third robustness approach called p-robustness.     

Spontaneous Formation of Nitrarine and Polycyclic Skeletons Related to Nitraria Indolic Alkaloids under Non‐Enzymic Conditions

Mixtures of tryptamine and reactive C₅ units, presumably derived from lysine in nature, were studied to ascertain the spontaneous formation of the complex polycyclic alkaloid nitrarine. Several indolic compounds tracing the unified metabolism within the Nitraria genus were also characterized.     

Compact Differences of Composition Operators on the Bergman Spaces Over the Ball

The compact differences of composition operators acting on the weighted L ²-Bergman space over the unit disk is characterized by the angular derivative cancellation property and due to Moorhouse. In this paper we extend Moorhouse’s characterization, as well as some related results, to the ball and, at the same time, to the weighted L ^p -Bergman space for the full range of p.     

On the twisted q-Euler numbers and polynomials associated with basic q-l-functions

One of the purposes of this paper is to construct the twisted q-Euler numbers by using p-adic invariant integral on Zp in the fermionic sense. Moreover, we consider the twisted Euler q-zeta functions and q-l-functions which interpolate the twisted q-Euler numbers and polynomials at a negative integer.     

A new method for measurement of finger-phalangeal force

Finger-phalangeal forces during maximal isometric cylinder grasping have been measured by using pressure-sensitive sheets in order to intensify the finger pressure, ball mats have been used. An image-analysis system has been used to determine the force exerted by the finger phalanges from the density of stains on the pressure-sensitive film. The variation of the finger forces with different cylinder sizes has been investigated, and the locations of the phalangeal force centers have also been obtained. The present method is useful for the analysis of finger-pulp contact with an object, and also for optimizing handle-shape design.     

Mesoporous Titania Thin Film with Highly Ordered and Fully Accessible Vertical Pores and Crystalline Walls

We report the preparation of mesoporous titania thin films with the R m pore structure derived from the Im m self‐assembled ordering of the titania species and an EO₁₀₆PO₇₀EO₁₀₆ triblock copolymer. The films were spin‐cast and then aged at 18 °C at a relative humidity of 70 %, which led to the orientation of the Im m structure with the [111] direction perpendicular to the substrates. The [111] body‐diagonal channels became vertical channels upon calcination at 400 °C, thus leading to thin films with vertical channels. The pores are ordered over a large area of up to 1 μm². The titania films can be formed on various types of substrates. By using a titania film formed on a Pt‐coated Si wafer as a template, we produced by an electrochemical‐deposition technique arrays of gold nanowires, whose morphology suggests that most of the pores of the titania thin films are accessible. The pore structure of vertical channels is stable up to 600 °C, at which temperature the wall materials crystallize into anatase.     

Complete 1H and 13C NMR assignments of sesquiterpene glucosides from Ixeris sonchifolia

Four sesquiterpene glucosides were isolated from Ixeris sonchifolia Hance. The structure of a new compound (1) was assigned as 9beta-monohydroxy-2,12-dioxo-guaia-3,11(13)-dien-1alpha,5alpha,6beta,7alpha,9beta,10alphaH-12,6-olide-9-O-beta-D- glucopyranoside (ixerinoside). In addition, unambiguous and complete assignments of (1)H NMR chemical shifts for crepidiaside A (2), ixerin Z (3), and 11,13alpha-dihydroixerin Z (4) are presented. The assignments were achieved by two-dimensional NMR (gCOSY, gHSQC, gHMBC, NOESY) and one-dimensional nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) experiments.     

Boundary operators in the one-matrix model

The one matrix model is known to reproduce in the continuum limit the (2,2p+1)$(2,2p+1)$ minimal Liouville gravity. Recently, two of the authors have shown how to construct arbitrary critical boundary conditions within this matrix model. So far, between two such boundary conditions only one boundary operator was constructed. In this Letter, we explain how to construct all the set of boundary operators that can be inserted. As a consistency check, we reproduce the corresponding Liouville boundary 2pt function from the matrix model correlator. In addition, we remark a connection between a matrix model relation and the boundary ground ring operator insertion in the continuum theory.
