The dominant noises which limit the present sensitivity of the gravitational wave detectors are the thermal noise of the suspended
mirrors and the shot noise. For the third generation of gravitational wave detectors as the Einstein Telescope (ET), the reduction
of the shot noise implies to increase the power stored in the detector at 1 MW level and, at the same time, to compensate
the huge optic distortion due to induced thermal lensing. At low temperature it is possible to reduce both these effects.
However, lowering the temperature of the test masses without injecting vibration noise from the cooling system is a technological
challenge. We review here the thermal noise impact on the ultimate ET sensitivity limit and we discuss possible cryogenic

This study investigates the uptake of iron and aluminium by apoferritin. In particular, we provide the first evidence that apoferritin is able to bind in vitro the physiological form of aluminium, Al(OH)4 ?, to reach an Al/Fe atomic ratio of about 0.15. Mass spectrometry analysis shows that the Al content increases linearly as a function of Al concentration in solution. These findings provide a better understanding of the Al uptake in vivo, confirming that the metal content of ferritin depends on the metal bio-availability. 相似文献

Typically induced by the mechanical processing of powders in ball mills, mechanochemical transformations are considered to result from the application of mechanical force to solid reactants. However, the undeniable deep connection between the dynamic compaction of powders during impacts and the overall transformation degree has yet to be disclosed. In the present work, we show that the square planar bis(dibenzoylmethanato)NiII coordination compound undergoes trimerization when its powder experiences even a single ball impact. Based on systematic experiments with individual ball impacts and analysis by Raman spectroscopy, we provide here quantitative mapping of the transformation in the powder compact and deduce bulk reaction kinetics from multiple individual impacts. 相似文献

Recent advances in the field of catalysis for 1,3-diene polymerization and in the interpretation of the polymerization mechanism are examined. Catalysts prepared from methylaluminoxanes and soluble transition metal compounds are in general more active than the analogous systems prepared from AlR3. With some catalysts, however, (e.g. lanthanide systems) a high activity is obtained only when transition metal compounds containing preformed metal-carbon bonds are used. Methylaluminoxanes affect also the stereospecificity of the polymerization. Active and stereospecific systems are obtained from monocyclopentadienyl derivatives of Ti and aluminoxanes. Recent views on the factors that determine stereospecificity are examined.
