This paper reports a modal formulation of the original method presented by Lim and Kashangaky, based on the use of the best
achievable eigenvectors in damage detection problems. The method requires the measurement of both frequencies and mode shapes.
The structural damage is located by computing the Euclidean distances between the measured mode shapes and the best achievable
modal eigenvectors. The method is able to detect loss of both stiffness and mass properties, even though in this paper only
the loss of stiffness will be analyzed. A simple numerical example is reported to investigate the applicability of the modal

The device relies on standard pulse post-compression in hollow-core fiber followed by a temporal filter based on cross-polarized wave generation. Pulses with a Gaussian spectrum over 350?nm, centered at 750?nm, are generated. Temporal measurements show that the contrast of the few-cycle pulses is enhanced on a femtosecond and picosecond time scale. The carrier-envelope phase stability is preserved (0.3?rad RMS). We have measured the angular dependence of the Josephson critical current density (J(C)) in c-axis tilt biepitaxial grain boundary YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-delta) junctions. We observe for the first time intrinsic d-wave pairing symmetry effects manifested as an oscillatory dependence of J(C) on angle. Summary We report on the cooling at liquid-helium temperature of our 2270 kg 5056 Al bar at CERN. The liquid-helium container had
been filled up to 1500 liters ensuring to keep the antenna cold for more than one month. The antenna is equipped with a resonant
capacitive transducer operating at constant electrical charge with a FET low-noise amplifier. The transducer is tuned to the
antenna within less than I Hz and the two normal-mode frequencies are ν−=908.160 Hz and ν+=924.234 Hz with an applied electrical field in the transducer of 106 V/m. The corresponding overall merit factors areQ
−=5.20·106 andQ
+=7.25·106. The transducer has been tested up to an electrical field of 6·106 V/m: in this condition we have βQ≈104. The antenna has been in operation for several weeks giving, for the Brownian noise, values in agreement with the calculated
values. We report also on the results of tests performed on a DC SQUID, whose input was connected to a commercial capacitor
via a transformer with turn ratio of 1000.

The quantized electronic structure in Pb films on Si(111) varies substantially as the film thickness increases. The changes in electronic energy cause the thermal stability of the films to oscillate with an approximate bilayer period. The phase of the oscillations can be controlled by interfacial engineering. Comparison of Pb films prepared on Si(111) terminated by In, Au, and Pb as interfactants reveals a phase reversal. For , films made of odd numbers of atomic layers (5, 7, and 9) are more stable than the even ones. This trend is reversed for the other two cases. 相似文献

The lower-hybrid drift instability is simulated in an ion-scale current sheet using a fully kinetic approach with values of the ion to electron mass ratio up to m(i)/m(e)=1836. Although the instability is localized on the edge of the layer, the nonlinear development increases the electron flow velocity in the central region resulting in a strong bifurcation of the current density and significant anisotropic heating of the electrons. This dramatically enhances the collisionless tearing mode and may lead to the rapid onset of magnetic reconnection for current sheets near the critical scale. 相似文献
