Reactions of collman complex with tin(IV) and germanium(IV) porphyris,formation of [tin(II) and germanium(II) porphyrins] tetracarbonyliron and crystal structure of [2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphinato tin(II)] tetracarbonyliron

The action of Na₂Fe(CO)₄ with tin(IV) and germanium(IV) porphyrins affords metal(II) porphyrin complexes [(por)M(II)Fe(CO)₄] (por = porphyrinate, M - Sn(II) or Ge(II)). The molecular structure of [(oep)Sn(II)Fe(CO)₄] was solved by X-ray diffraction techniques. The molecular structure of [(oep)Sn(II)Fe(CO)₄] was solved by X-ray diffraction techniques : the Sn coordination is square pyramidal with the iron in axial position (Sn-Fe = 2.492(1)Å) whereas the Fe coordination is trigonal bipyramidal. Mössbauer parameters provide convincing evidence for the formal zero oxidation state of the iron atom.

2-Alkoxy-3-nitro-2H-chromenes have been obtained by the reaction of β-nitroacetaldehyde dialkyl acetals with some salicylic aldehydes in the presence of triethylamine p-toluene sulfonate.     

Über die bildung von β-halogenalkyleisenkomplexen bei der oxidativen addition von brom an (tetracarbonyl)(olefin)eisenkomplexe und den zerfall der σ-komplexe

Addition of bromine to (tetracarbonyl)(olefin)iron complexes at low temperatures leads to the formation of (tetracarbonyl)(β-bromoalkyl)iron complexes in a stereospecific way. These novel iron σ-complexes show hindered rotation around the carboncarbon bond and undergo β-elimination in a stereospecific manner. The same kind of σ-complexes are assumed intermediates responsible for the dehalogenation of vicinal dibromides by nonacarbonyldiiron.

These conditions highlight the need to take explicitly into account the carryover effects of salesmen's activities in determining the relative importance of the commission rates to be paid for the various product lines.     

A spectral study of transition-metal complexes on a chelating ion-exchange resin containing aminophosphonic acid groups

The coordination mode of a commercial chelating ion-exchange resin, ES 467, containing aminomethylphosphonic acid groups anchored on a macroporous styrenedivinylbenzene copolymer, with several metal ions, such as chromium(III), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) has been studied with the aid of IR, ligand field and ESR spectra. The chelating group of ES 467, aminomethylphosphonic acid, appears to bind different metal ions mainly through oxygen atoms of the phosphonic acid group, though, in the case of those species containing low-loading of metal ions, the secondary amine nitrogen atom also appears to take part in coordination. Most of the metal ions studied seem to be present as six-coordinated species in the polymeric matrix, whereas cobalt(II) species show electronic spectra which are consistent with the presence of both four-coordinated (tetrahedral) and six-coordinated (octahedral) structures of these species. The distribution coefficients for cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) have been determined and it appears that the resin ES 467 binds copper(II) ions selectively. An attempt has been made to find a possible relationship between the selectivity of the chelating resin and the stereochemistry of the adsorbed metal ions.     

A procedure to linearize a class of non-linear systems modelled by bond graphs

A procedure is proposed to obtain the linearization of a class of non-linear physical systems using bond graphs. Also, a junction structure of a non-linear bond graph considering linearly dependent and independent state variables is described. From the junction structure of the non-linear bond graph a procedure to build a linearized bond graph is presented. Finally, an example of a Programmable Universal Manipulation Arm (PUMA) manipulator is given.
