Precision measurement of theg-factor of the 2+ γ-vibrational state of160Dy and test of theF-spin purity

The rotations of the 392-966 keV and the 299–966 keV directional correlations of¹⁶⁰Dy in the static hyperfine field of DyTb have been measured with high precision. A neutron activated Tb single crystal was used which was magnetized to saturation at 4.2 K by an external magnetic field of 4.5 T applied in the direction of theb-axis. The agreement of both rotations proves that the relaxation of the 4f-shell after the-decay takes less than 10 ps. A quantum mechanical calculation within the magnon model gave a relaxation time of the order of 1 ps. Theg-factor of the 2⁺ -vibrational state was derived as

Measurement of γp→K + Λ and γp→K + Σ 0 at photon energies up to 1.47 GeV

The reactions pK ⁺ and pK ^{+ 0} have been measured with the multiparticle detector system SAPHIR at ELSA in Bonn. Besides the differential cross sections the polarization and, for the first time, the ⁰ polarization have been determined in a photon induced reaction. All data are presented as functions of the photon energy (from threshold up to 1.47 GeV) and of the kaon production angle (0°–180°). The polarization of both and ⁰ is substantial at all energies and varies strongly with the production angle.This work is supported by the Bundesminister für Forschung und Technologie (BMFT), FK 06 BN 621 I     

Possible candidates for discrete gamma rays linking superdeformed and yrast states in an odd nucleus:193Pb

The francium isotopes^200–202Fr were produced in the reaction³⁵Cl+¹⁷⁰Yb using bombarding energies of 4.9–5.3 MeV/nucleon. Fusion products were separated in-flight from the primary beam using a gas-filled recoil separator. An alpha line with the alpha particle energy and half-life of (7468±9) keV and (19 ₋₆ ⁺¹³ ) ms, respectively, was assigned to²⁰⁰Fr. Previously reported decay properties of^201,202Fr were confirmed. Isometric embedding for homogeneous compact 3-manifolds

The anisotropic homogeneous ³ is isometrically globally embedded into a nine-dimensional Euclidean or pseudo-Euclidean space. In a special case the Euclidean space is six-dimensional. The space-sections of the anti-Mach metric appear as a submanifold of theE ⁹. We obtain also the isometric embedding ofSO(3) with its natural Killing metric.
