Many analyses require linking records from two databases comprising overlapping sets of individuals. In the absence of unique identifiers, the linkage procedure often involves matching on a set of categorical variables, such as demographics, common to both files. Typically, however, the resulting matches are inexact: some cross-classifications of the matching variables do not generate unique links across files. Further, the variables used for matching can be subject to reporting errors, which introduce additional uncertainty in analyses. We present a Bayesian file matching methodology designed to estimate regression models and match records simultaneously when categorical variables used for matching are subject to errors. The method relies on a hierarchical model that includes (1) the regression of interest involving variables from the two files given a vector indicating the links, (2) a model for the linking vector given the true values of the variables used for matching, (3) a model for reported values of the variables used for matching given their true values, and (4) a model for the true values of the variables used for matching. We describe algorithms for sampling from the posterior distribution of the model. We illustrate the methodology using artificial data and data from education records in the state of North Carolina.  相似文献

DNA and RNA contain, next to the four canonical nucleobases, a number of modified nucleosides that extend their chemical information content. RNA is particularly rich in modifications, which is obviously an adaptation to their highly complex and variable functions. In fact, the modified nucleosides and their chemical structures establish a second layer of information which is of central importance to the function of the RNA molecules. Also the chemical diversity of DNA is greater than originally thought. Next to the four canonical bases, the DNA of higher organisms contains a total of four epigenetic bases: m(5) dC, hm(5) dC, f(5) dC und ca(5) dC. While all cells of an organism contain the same genetic material, their vastly different function and properties inside complex higher organisms require the controlled silencing and activation of cell-type specific genes. The regulation of the underlying silencing and activation process requires an additional layer of epigenetic information, which is clearly linked to increased chemical diversity. This diversity is provided by the modified non-canonical nucleosides in both DNA and RNA.  相似文献

We consider the decay of3 S 1 quarkonia into a photon and two Goldstone fermions in a model realizing supersymmetry in a nonlinear way. We derive a lower bound of 3.5 GeV for the scale of spontaneous supersymmetry breaking from Υ-decays. We show that the decay of a3 S 1 quarkonium into two Goldstone fermions is forbidden in the order we consider.  相似文献

Self-channeling of few-cycle laser pulses in helium at high pressure generates coherent light supercontinua spanning the range of 270-1000 nm, with the highest efficiency demonstrated to date. Our results open the door to the synthesis of powerful light waveforms shaped within the carrier field oscillation cycle and hold promise for the generation of pulses at the single-cycle limit.  相似文献

Spectroscopic studies in the superdeformed shape isomer of 240Pu using γ-spectroscopy, conversion electron spectroscopy and transmission resonance spectroscopy have been performed. In a high-resolution and high-efficiency γ-spectroscopy experiment the out-of-band decays of several excited superdeformed rotational sequences with K=2? and 1? could be identified together with evidence for a weakly populated 0? octupole band. Surprisingly, no low-lying collective quadrupole excitations could be observed. Complementary information could be obtained in conversion electron measurements in coincidence with isomeric fission, resulting in the first identification of the lowest ß-vibrational K=0+ band. For all rotational bands the variation of the moment of inertia with spin could be studied. A predominant population of negative parity states in the second well could be observed, which can be explained by the selective population and depopulation of the second minimum. Complementary transmission resonance measurements have been performed, yielding new information on the fine structure of high-lying (ß-)vibrational multi-phonon states. A new method could be established to determine the excitation energy of the fission isomer ground state from measured level densities.  相似文献
