Hierarchical crystals with short diffusion path, conventional microcrystals and nanocrystals of ZSM-5 zeolites were used for biodiesel production from waste frying oils and were assessed for their catalytic activity in regard to their pore structure and acidic properties. Produced zeolites were characterized using XRD, nitrogen adsorption–desorption, SEM, TEM, X-ray fluorescence, and FTIR. Pore size effect on molecular diffusion limitation was assessed by Thiele modulus calculations and turnover frequencies (TOF) were used to discuss the correlation between acidic character and catalytic performance of the zeolites. Owing to the enhanced accessibility and mass transfer of triglycerides and free fatty acids to the elemental active zeolitic structure, the catalytic performance of nanosponge and nanosheet hierarchical zeolites was the highest. A maximum yield of 48.29% was reached for the transesterification of waste frying oils (WFOs) using HZSM-5 nanosheets at 12:1 methanol to WFOs molar ratio, 180 °C, 10 wt % catalyst loading, and 4 h reaction time. Although HZSM-5 nanosponges achieved high conversions, these more hydrophilic zeolites did not function according to their entire acidic strength in comparison to HZSM-5 nanosheets. NSh-HZSM5 catalytic performance was still high after 4 consecutive cycles as a result of the zeolite regeneration.  相似文献

The synthesis of a thiourea substituted derivative of tris(pyridyl-2-methyl)amine (TPA) is reported. Two of the three pyridine rings are substituted in the 6-position with benzoylthiourea groups. These thiourea groups undergo intramolecular hydrogen bonding to form six-membered rings which leaves one N-H group available to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules. This reports details how the complexation of this new ligand with transition metal ions yields complexes with differing geometries. Seven co-ordinate Mn(II) and Cd(II), six co-ordinate Ni(II) and five co-ordinate Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes have been isolated.  相似文献

 A new, simple, and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of certain tricyclic antidepressants, belonging to the dibenzazepine class of drugs, has been developed. The proposed method is based on the reaction of imipramine hydrochloride (IPH), desipramine hydrochloride (DPH), clomipramine hydrochloride (CPH), trimipramine maleate (TPM) or opipramol (OPP) with iron(III), and subsequent reaction with ferricyanide in an acetic acid medium, to yield a blue product, with maximum absorption at 720–730 nm. Summary: A detailed investigation of chain transfer to polymer during free radical ring‐opening polymerization of the eight‐membered disulfide monomer 2‐methyl‐7‐methylene‐1,5‐dithiacyclooctane (MDTO) is presented. It has been shown that extensive chain transfer to polymer occurs involving both poly(MDTO) radicals and cyanoisopropyl radicals. Significant decreases in molecular weight were observed when cyanoisopropyl radicals were generated in the presence of poly(MDTO) in the absence of monomer. The molecular weight distribution (MWD) obtained from polymerization of MDTO in the presence of pre‐added poly(MDTO) was markedly different from that obtained without pre‐added polymer. A kinetic model was constructed in an attempt to quantitatively describe the chain transfer to polymer process based on the addition fragmentation chain transfer mechanism. It was found however that the simulated MWDs were considerably broader than the experimental MWDs, which were similar to the Schulz‐Flory distribution.

Supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) is an inexpensive and environmentally friendly medium for radical polymerizations. ScCO2 is suited for heterogeneous controlled/living radical polymerizations (CLRPs), since the monomer, initiator, and control reagents (nitroxide, etc.) are soluble, but the polymer formed is insoluble beyond a critical degree of polymerization (Jcrit). The precipitated polymer can continue growing in (only) the particle phase giving living polymer of controlled well‐defined microstructure. The addition of a colloidal stabilizer gives a dispersion polymerization with well‐defined colloidal particles being formed. In recent years, nitroxide‐mediated polymerization (NMP), atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), and reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization have all been conducted as heterogeneous polymerizations in scCO2. This Highlight reviews this recent body of work, and describes the unique characteristics of scCO2 that allows composite particle formation of unique morphology to be achieved. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The maximum energy release rate criterion, i.e., G max criterion, is commonly used for crack propagation analysis. This fracture criterion is based on the elastic macroscopic strength of materials. In the present investigation, however, the G max criterion has been modified in order to accommodate the consideration of plastic strain energy. This modified criterion is extended to study the fatigue crack growth characteristics of mixed-mode cracks. To predict crack propagation due to fatigue loads, a new elasto–plastic energy model is presented. This new model includes the effects of material properties such as strain hardening exponent n, yield strength σ y , and fracture toughness and stress intensity factor ranges. The results obtained are compared with those obtained using the commonly employed crack growth law and the experimental data.  相似文献

The search for new plasmonic materials that are low-cost, chemically and thermally stable, and exhibit low optical losses has garnered significant attention among researchers. Recently, metal nitrides have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional, noble-metal-based plasmonic materials, such as silver and gold. Many of the initial studies on metal nitrides have focused on computational prediction of the plasmonic properties of these materials. In recent years, several synthetic methods have been developed to enable empirical analysis. This review highlights synthetic techniques for the preparation of plasmonic metal nitride nanoparticles, which are predominantly free-standing, by using solid-state and solid–gas phase reactions, nonthermal and arc plasma methods, and laser ablation. The physical properties of the nanoparticles, such as shape, size, crystallinity, and optical response, obtained with such synthetic methods are also summarized.  相似文献

The first examples of α‐amino boronate complexes stabilized by amino cyanoborane complexation were tested as trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitors, and they showed moderate inhibition. The structure of compound 1 that contains two different boron atoms reveals that the geometry around the boron atom in the cyano group is tetrahedral, whereas a trigonal planar geometry exists around the boron atom attached to two oxygen atoms and a carbon atom.
