A general method for the functionalization of Si-Cl terminated carbosilane dendritic molecules via organolithium or organomagnesium reagents is described. Quantitative exchange of the bromine atoms of 4-bromophenyl-functionalized dendrimers affords polylithiated species that are valuable starting materials for further functionalization, e.g., into pyridyl alcohols. The latter were successfully applied as catalyst precursors in a ruthenium-mediated ring-closure metathesis reaction. 相似文献

A procedure for the native two-dimensional electrophoresis of peanut and hazelnut proteins is described. Proteins were solubilised after acetone treatment using a combination of 3-[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio]-1-propanesulfonate (CHAPS) and tetramethylene sulphone. These extracts were analysed by a combination of isoelectric focusing in the presence of lactose in immobilized pH gradients followed by charge shift electrophoresis. Immunoblot analysis, using sera from nut allergic patients, allowed the identification of a peanut and hazelnut allergen with identical isoelectric point and apparent molecular mass. These proteins were recovered from duplicate gels using a mixture of formic acid, acetonitrile (ACN) and isopropanol. The molecular masses for both proteins, determined by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionisation-mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS), were 4826 Da. 相似文献

In this Letter we report observations of optically induced self-organization of colloidal arrays in the presence of unpatterned counterpropagating evanescent waves. The colloidal arrays formed along the laser propagation axis are shown to be linked to the breakup of the incident field into optical spatial solitons, the lateral spacing of the arrays being related to modulation instability of the soft condensed matter system. 相似文献

We report on transport measurements of YBa 2Cu 3O (7-delta) single crystals with different oxygen contents in the geometry B, J ||ab (J perpendicularB). Our data show that the vortices become confined between the Cu-O planes below a well-defined temperature at which the effective size 2xi of the vortex core is approximately equal to the period of the Cu-O layers. This confinement strongly increases the vortex liquid freezing temperature. A new melting line is found separating a vortex liquid and a smectic phase, which shows an oscillatory field dependence reflecting differences between commensurate and incommensurate smectic states. 相似文献

We present an approach to realizing enhanced upconversion efficiency in erbium (Er)-doped photonic crystals. Slow-light-mode pumping of the first Er excited state transition can result in enhanced emission from higher-energy levels that may lead to finite subbandgap external quantum efficiency in crystalline silicon solar cells. Using a straightforward electromagnetic model, we calculate potential field enhancements of more than 18× within he slow-light mode of a one-dimensional photonic crystal and discuss design trade-offs and considerations for photovoltaics. 相似文献

We consider diffraction by a semi-infinite crack located alonga fusion interface between two differing elastic media. Twotypes of crack, namely open and partially closed cracks, areinvestigated. An open crack is modelled by a stress-free contactboundary condition and a partially closed crack is modelledby a spring contact boundary condition. For the latter, thejump in the stress across the crack is assumed to be proportionalto the jump in the displacement across the crack. This situationarises in, for example, a K-weld where the fine grain of theparent material (for example, ferritic or forged austeniticsteel) is in stark contrast with the coarse-grained weld metal(for example, austenitic weld metal). In the metal weld thedirection of the grain axis varies through the metal. However,diffraction is a local phenomenon and so the austenitic steelis assumed to have a zonal axis so that it may be modelled bya transversely isotropic composite. The physical significance of the crack extension force produced by mechanical loads and electric fields in linear dielectric and piezoelectric materials is examined using simple thermodynamic arguments. General expressions are derived for the crack extension force in dielectrics and piezoelectrics, under mechanical and electrical loads, in terms of the measurable parameters elastic compliance and electric capacitance . It is shown that the crack extension force produced by an electric field on an impermeable crack is always negative and it is argued that under combined electromechanical loads the total crack extension force in a piezoelectric cannot be separated into a mechanical component and an electrical component. Expressions for the crack extension force in terms of mechanical and electrical intensity factors are also given. Their derivation from available solutions for the electromechanical field at the crack tip (in a transversely isotropic material of crystal class 6 mm) is presented in detail to emphasize the physical significance of the coefficients that appear in the final expressions. In the light of these results, existing experimental observations that appear to be inconsistent with theoretical expectations are re-examined. The suggestion that the crack extension force is not a valid parameter to characterize the fracture behaviour of ferroelectrics is justified on physical grounds. Its importance is discussed and the rate of mechanical work of fracture is proposed as a more suitable parameter for those cases where the electric field does not produce dielectric rupture, nor degradation of the material at the crack tip. 相似文献
