Unrestricted Hartree–Fock calcuations coupled with second-order Møller–Plesset correlation correction were performed to study the structures and energetics of microlusters. For (BN)2, linear and rhombus forms are almost isoenergetic, whereas cyclic forms are preferable for (BN)3 and (BN)4 clusters. As a general trend, linear isomers prefer the triplet spin state, whereas cyclic isomers prefer the singlet spin state. Total charge density plots show a strong dominace of the B? N bond, indicating that the extent of its polar character becomes stronger with the increase in the cluster size. The loss of a BN monomer is shown to be the most likely fragmentation channel for both neutral and single-ionized clusters. We find that neutral (BN)n clusters have the same structural configurations as those of their corresponding C2n counterparts. This similarity follows the isoelectronic principle and is of importance due to recent interest in the investigations of BN fullerene analogs. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Biologically active peptides are of particular interest in food science and nutrition because they have been shown to play different physiological roles, including antihypertensive, opioid, antimicrobial, and immunostimulating activities. Because these peptides are generated by protein hydrolysis or fermentation, they can represent only minor constituents in a highly complex matrix and therefore, identification of biologically active peptides in food matrixes is a challenging task in food technology. In this context, mass spectrometry (MS) has developed into a necessary tool to assess quality and safety of food and, more recently, to determine the presence and behavior of functional components such as these bioactive peptides. This review highlights the existing methods based on MS to identify, characterize, and quantify food-derived biologically active peptides, taking into account the different ionization sources used for the analysis of these high-value food components. The quantitative determination of bioactive peptides in food products or biological fluids is also discussed.  相似文献

In this report, we present the use of CE-MS as complement to RP separation for the identification of novel angiotensin-converting enzyme-inhibitory (ACEI) peptides from a complex milk protein hydrolysate. As preliminary step, fast protein LC (FPLC) was used to isolate the different casein fractions from raw ovine milk. Enzymatic hydrolysis of these fractions was performed by using proteolytic enzymes of gastrointestinal origin. The most active hydrolysate, corresponding to kappa-casein hydrolyzed with pepsin, chymotrypsin, and trypsin, was fractionated by RP-HPLC and the peptides contained in the active fractions were sequenced by CE coupled to IT-MS (CE-MS). The use of CE-MS allowed the identification of short peptides with ACEI activity included in the scarcely retained fraction obtained by semipreparative RP-HPLC. Among the identified peptides, those with hydrophobic or positively charged residues at the C-terminal tripeptide were chemically synthesized to determine their ACEI activity. This procedure allowed us to identify four novel potent ACEI peptides from kappa-casein with sequences IAK, YQQRPVA, WQVLPNAVPAK, and HPHPHLSF. These active sequences could be obtained by enzymatic hydrolysis either of the individual kappa-casein fraction or the total casein fraction from ovine milk.  相似文献

A first approach to the relationship between the electron localization function (ELF) and electronic delocalization upon bond formation is provided. We show from first principles the ability of ELF at the bond critical points to act as an index of the electron reorganization involved in chemical bonding. Simultaneously, this index, that we shall call ELF delocalization index (EDI), constitutes a good measure of electron delocalization. We will show how the core of ELF is proportional to the Wiberg index under the valence bond approach. This relationship will be exploited for some representative examples where EDI is able to identify the stages of bond formation. Furthermore, a maximum in EDI along this process has been found to correlate with the molecular equilibrium configuration, allowing for a formulation of a ??maximal localization principle?? for the stable structure of covalent compounds in terms of ELF.  相似文献

Three imidazole hydrazone compounds, namely 2‐(4‐nitro‐1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)‐N′‐[1‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide, C12H12N6O3, ( 1 ), 2‐(2‐nitro‐1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)‐N′‐[1‐(pyridin‐2‐yl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide, C12H12N6O3, ( 2 ), and 2‐(2‐nitro‐1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)‐N′‐[(phenyl)(pyridin‐2‐yl)methylidene]acetohydrazide, C17H14N6O3, ( 3 ), were obtained and fully characterized, including their crystal structure determinations. While all the compounds proved not to be cytotoxic to J774.A1 macrophage cells, ( 1 ) and ( 3 ) exhibited activity against Leishmania chagasi, whereas ( 2 ) was revealed to be inactive. Since both ( 1 ) and ( 3 ) exhibited antileishmanial effects, while ( 2 ) was devoid of activity, the presence of the acetyl or benzoyl groups was possibly not a determining factor in the observed antiprotozoal activity. In contrast, since ( 1 ) and ( 3 ) are 4‐nitroimidazole derivatives and ( 2 ) is a 2‐nitroimidazole‐derived compound, the presence of the 4‐nitro group probably favours antileishmanial activity over the 2‐nitro group. The results suggested that further investigations on compounds ( 1 ) and ( 3 ) as bioreducible antileishmanial prodrug candidates are called for.  相似文献

The main features of a new computational code aimed at the topological analysis of the electron localization function (ELF) in crystals are hereby presented. Besides the complete localization of all critical points, the code is able to determine the limiting surfaces that define the chemical regions associated with the so-found maxima (or attractors) of the ELF. Hence, integrations of density operators within these basins provide charges and volumes to cores, bonds and lone pairs. Two illustrative applications have been selected. Firstly, we examine the Z dependence of basin compressibilities in the elements of the first two rows of the periodic table, and secondly, we focus our attention on the chemical changes across the pathway of the zinc blende-rocksalt phase transition in BeO.  相似文献
