A novel strategy for the incorporation of carbon dioxide into polymers is introduced. For this purpose, the Ugi five‐component condensation (Ugi‐5CC) of an alcohol, CO2, an amine, an aldehyde, and an isocyanide is used to obtain step‐growth monomers. Polymerization via thiol‐ene reaction or polycondensation with diphenyl carbonate gives diversely substituted polyurethanes or alternating polyurethane‐polycarbonates, respectively. Furthermore, the application of 1,12‐diaminododecane and 1,6‐diisocyanohexane as bifunctional components in the Ugi‐5CC directly results in the corresponding polyamide bearing methyl carbamate side chains ( = 19 850 g mol−1). The latter polymer is further converted into the corresponding polyhydantoin in a highly straightforward fashion.

Periodic incorporation of quantum wells inside a one-dimensional Bragg structure is shown to enhance coherent coupling of excitons to the electromagnetic Bloch waves. We demonstrate strong coupling of quantum well excitons to photonic crystal Bragg modes at the edge of the photonic band gap, which gives rise to mixed Bragg polariton eigenstates. The resulting Bragg polariton branches are in good agreement with the theory and allow demonstration of Bragg polariton parametric amplification.  相似文献

The phorboxazole natural products are among the most potent inhibitors of cancer cell division, but they are essentially unavailable from natural sources at present. Laboratory syntheses based upon tri-component fragment coupling strategies have been developed that provide phorboxazole A and analogues in a reliable manner and with unprecedented efficiency. This has been orchestrated to occur via the sequential or simultaneous formation of both of the natural product's oxazole moieties from two serine-derived amides, involving oxidation-cyclodehydrations. The optimized preparation of three pre-assembled components, representing carbons 3-17, 18-30, and 31-46, has been developed. This article details the design and syntheses of these three essential building blocks. The convergent coupling approach is designed to facilitate the incorporation of structural changes within each component to generate unnatural analogues, targeting those with enhanced therapeutic potential and efficacy.  相似文献

The bond geometry of the (2 × 1)-2O-p2mg overlayer on Co(10 0) was determined by analyzing low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) intensity data. Oxygen occupies the three-fold coordinated hcp site along the densely packed rows on the unreconstructed surface. The O atoms are attached to two atoms in the first Co layer and to one Co atom in the second layer. The strong interaction between O and Co is indicated by the bond lengths of 1.83 ± 0.10 Å and 1.99 ± 0.10 Å to the top-layer Co and the Co atoms in the second layer, respectively. The most striking result of our work is that oxygen adsorption causes a marked expansion (by 25%) of the first Co layer spacing (0.90 Å) with respect to the bulk value of 0.72 Å. This strong expansion might offer diffusion channels for O atoms to penetrate further into the subsurface region.  相似文献

Elimination of pulmonary Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) infections is challenging to accomplish with antibiotic therapies, mainly due to resistance mechanisms. Quorum sensing inhibitors (QSIs) interfering with biofilm formation can thus complement antibiotics. For simultaneous and improved delivery of both active agents to the infection sites, self‐assembling nanoparticles of a newly synthesized squalenyl hydrogen sulfate (SqNPs) were prepared. These nanocarriers allowed for remarkably high loading capacities of hydrophilic antibiotic tobramycin (Tob) and a novel lipophilic QSI at 30 % and circa 10 %, respectively. The drug‐loaded SqNPs showed improved biofilm penetration and enhanced efficacy in relevant biological barriers (mucin/human tracheal mucus, biofilm), leading to complete eradication of PA biofilms at circa 16‐fold lower Tob concentration than Tob alone. This study offers a viable therapy optimization and invigorates the research and development of QSIs for clinical use.  相似文献

Cronbach's alpha is a popular method to measure reliability, e.g. in quantifying the reliability of a score to summarize the information of several items in questionnaires. The alpha coefficient is known to be non-robust. We study the behavior of this coefficient in different settings to identify situations where Cronbach's alpha is extremely sensitive to violations of the classical model assumptions. Furthermore, we construct a robust version of Cronbach's alpha which is insensitive to a small proportion of data that belong to a different source. The idea is that the robust Cronbach's alpha reflects the reliability of the bulk of the data. For example, it should not be possible that some small amount of outliers makes a score look reliable if it is not.  相似文献
