We present results for the isothermal adsorption kinetics of methane, hydrogen, and tetrafluoromethane on closed-ended single-walled carbon nanotubes. In these experiments, we monitor the pressure decrease as a function of time as equilibrium is approached, after a dose of gas is added to the cell containing the nanotubes. The measurements were performed at different fractional coverages limited to the first layer. The results indicate that, for a given coverage and temperature, the equilibration time is an increasing function of E/(k(B)T), where E is the binding energy of the adsorbate and k(B)T is the thermal energy. These findings are consistent with recent theoretical predictions and computer simulations results that we use to interpret the experimental measurements. 相似文献
This study presents the production of bacterial cellulose (BC) by a bacterium isolated from a rotten fruit and its process optimization. Here, isolation and screening of potent cellulose producers were carried out from different natural sources, viz., soil, rotten fruits, and vegetables and vinegar. A total of 200 bacterial isolates were obtained, which were screened for cellulose production using Hestrin?CSchramm medium. A novel and potent cellulose-producing bacterium was newly isolated from a rotten fruit and identified as Gluconacetobacter sp. F6 through 16S ribosomal DNA sequencing and morphological, cultural, and biochemical characteristics. After optimization of culture conditions, including pH, temperature, agitation, carbon/nitrogen sources, and inducers, the BC production was greatly increased from 0.52 to 4.5?g/l (8.65-fold increase). The optimal culture medium contained 1% (w/v) glucose, 1.5% (w/v) yeast extract, 0.5% (w/v) peptone, 0.27% (w/v) disodium hydrogen phosphate, 0.115% (w/v) citric acid, and 0.4% (w/v) ethanol. BC produced was analyzed for the presence of cellulose fibrils by epiflourescent microscopy using Calcofluor white stain and scanning electron microscopy and confirmed by NMR. There are very scanty reports about the optimization of BC production by bacteria isolated from rotten fruits. 相似文献
Pulsed laser deposition synthesized ZnO thin films, grown at 400 °C substrate temperature in different oxygen gas pressures, were irradiated with 6 shots of pulsed nitrogen ions obtained from 2.94 kJ dense plasma focus to achieve the nitrogen doping in ZnO. Structural, compositional and optical properties of as-deposited and nitrogen ion irradiated ZnO thin films were investigated to confirm the successful doping of nitrogen in irradiated samples. Spectral changes have been seen in the nitrogen irradiated ZnO thin film samples from the low temperature PL measurements. Free electron to acceptor emissions can be observed from the irradiated samples, which hints towards the successful nitrogen doping in films. Compositional analysis by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and corresponding shifts in binding energy core peaks of oxygen and nitrogen confirmed the successful use of plasma focus device as a novel source for nitrogen ion doping in ZnO thin films. 相似文献
A novel, exceptionally stable titanium superoxide radical ion was prepared and its structure determined by FTIR, ESR, Raman
spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis and elemental analysis. This heterogeneous
catalyst has been found to be effective for the selective oxidation of aromatic amines and phenols to the corresponding nitro
aromatics and p-quinones, respectively. In addition, this non-toxic, inexpensive and reusable catalyst has also been used in aminobromination
of olefins, which proceed to give the 1, 2-bromoaminated anti-Markovnikov product. A brief account of these results is summarized in this review. 相似文献
We report on the use of quercetin-functionalized gold nanoparticles (QC-AuNPs) as a colorimetric probe for the amino acids arginine (Arg), histidine (His) and lysine (Lys). The method is based on the aggregation of the QC-AuNPs that is caused by these amino acids and leads to a visually detectable color change from red to blue. The absorption maxima shift from 525 nm to 702, 693, and 745 nm, respectively. Aggregations are confirmed by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopic techniques (TEM). The effects of the QC concentration, temperature and reaction time for the preparation of QC-Au NPs were tested. Other amino acids do not interfere. Under the optimal conditions, linear relationships exist between the absorption ratios at 702/525 nm (for Arg), 693/525 nm (for His), and 745/525 nm (for Lys) over the concentrations ranges from 2.5–1,250 μM (Arg) and 1–1,000 μM (His and Lys), respectively. The respective limits of detection are 0.04, 0.03, and 0.02 μM. The method provides a useful tool for the rapid visual and instrumental determination of the three amino acids.
Iron-sulfur clusters are multifaceted iron-containing cofactors coordinated and utilized by numerous proteins in nearly all biological systems. Fe-S-cluster-containing proteins help direct pathways essential for cell viability and participate in biological applications ranging from nucleotide biosynthesis and stability, protein translation, enzyme catalysis, and mitochondrial metabolism. Fe-S-containing proteins function by utilizing the unique electronic and chemical properties inherent in the Fe containing cofactor. Fe-S clusters are constructed of inorganic iron and sulfide arranged in a distinct caged structural makeup ranging from [Fe(2) -S(2) ], [Fe(3) -S(4) ], [Fe(4) -S(4) ], up to [Fe(8) -S(8) ] clusters. In eukaryotes, cluster activity is controlled in part at the assembly level and the major pathway for cluster production exists within the mitochondria. Recent insight into the pathway of mitochondrial cluster assembly has come from new in vivo and in vitro reports that provided direct insight into how all protein partners within the assembly pathway interact. However, we are only just beginning to understand the role of each protein within this complex pageant that is mitochondrial Fe-S cluster assembly. In this report we present results, using the yeast model for mitochondrial assembly, to describe the molecular details of how important proteins in the pathway coordinate for cluster assembly. 相似文献
Fluence dependence of transmission in three dyes, viz. indanthrone, dichloroindanthrone and violanthrone, is reported at 532 nm as well as at 1.06 µm. These dyes show optical limiting at both these wavelengths for nanosecond pulses. The limiting is due to the combined effect of reverse saturable absorption from the triplet state and thermal defocussing in the dye solutions. 相似文献
This paper investigates the emission characteristics of a high-performance low-energy (3-kJ) repetitive dense plasma focus device, NX2, operated at up to 1-Hz repetition rate to develop it as an intense source of soft X-rays (SXR) for microlithography and micromachining. Various SXR yield optimization studies with argon and neon as filling gases were performed under different operating conditions (charging voltage, filling pressure, anode length, and insulator sleeve length). The SXR yield was computed using signals obtained from a PIN diode SXR spectrometer with appropriate filters. When operated in neon, the average optimum SXR (/spl lambda//spl sim/1 nm) yield in 4/spl pi/ steradians was found to be up to 140 J/shot, which corresponded to a wall plug efficiency of 5.6%. Operation in argon showed that optimized SXR (/spl lambda//spl sim/0.4 nm) yield was up to 1.3 J/shot. While operating with neon under optimized conditions with a water-cooled anode in repetitive mode, the NX2 device was used as a SXR source to imprint a test lithograph on a highly sensitive chemically-amplified resist SU-8. Test structures showing the effect of a stepper with aspect ratio 3:1 on 10-/spl mu/m-thick SU-8 resist film were obtained. 相似文献
