A set of poly(propylene) composites containing different amounts of copper nanoparticles (CNP) were prepared by the melt mixed method and their antimicrobial behavior was quantitatively studied. The time needed to reduce the bacteria to 50% dropped to half with only 1 v/v % of CNP, compared to the polymer without CNP. After 4 h, this composite killed more than 99.9% of the bacteria. The biocide kinetics can be controlled by the nanofiller content; composites with CNP concentrations higher than 10 v/v % eliminated 99% of the bacteria in less than 2 h. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy did not detect CNP at the surface, therefore the biocide behavior was attributed to copper in the bulk of the composite.

Synthetic efforts toward the chlorinated aza-propellane alkaloid acutumine (1) are described. The key vicinal quaternary centers were constructed by a photochemical [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of a furanyl-tetrahydroindolone. Dihydroxylation of the [2 + 2] product enabled a tandem retro-aldol/intramolecular ketalization reaction, which revealed the aza-propellane core of 1 while generating an unusual, caged, pentacyclic hemiketal product. 相似文献

Low-pressure adsorption of carbon dioxide and nitrogen was studied in both acidic and copper-exchanged forms of SSZ-13, a zeolite containing an 8-ring window. Under ideal conditions for industrial separations of CO(2) from N(2), the ideal adsorbed solution theory selectivity is >70 in each compound. For low gas coverage, the isosteric heat of adsorption for CO(2) was found to be 33.1 and 34.0 kJ/mol for Cu- and H-SSZ-13, respectively. From in situ neutron powder diffraction measurements, we ascribe the CO(2) over N(2) selectivity to differences in binding sites for the two gases, where the primary CO(2) binding site is located in the center of the 8-membered-ring pore window. This CO(2) binding mode, which has important implications for use of zeolites in separations, has not been observed before and is rationalized and discussed relative to the high selectivity for CO(2) over N(2) in SSZ-13 and other zeolites containing 8-ring windows. 相似文献

The reactions of the title compounds with phenoxides, secondary alicyclic (SA) amines, and pyridines, in 44 wt% ethanol–water, at 25°C and an ionic strength of 0.2 M, were subjected to kinetic and product studies. From analytical techniques (HPLC and NMR), two pathways were detected (nucleophilic attack at the phosphoryl center and at the C‐1 aromatic carbon) for the reactions of all the nucleophiles with the phosphate ( 2 ) and for the pyridinolysis of the thionophosphate ( 1 ). Only aromatic nucleophilic substitution was found for the reactions of 1 with phenoxides and SA amines. For the dual reactions, the nucleophilic rate constants (kN) were separated in two terms: $k_{rm N}^{rm P}$ and $k_{rm N}^{{rm Ar}}$, which are the rate constants for the corresponding electrophilic centers. The absence of a break in the Brønsted‐type plots for the attack at P is consistent with concerted mechanisms. The Brønsted slopes, βAr 0.32–0.71, for the attack at the aromatic C‐1, are in agreement with stepwise mechanisms where formation of a Meisenheimer complex is the rate‐determining step. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Tris(2‐ and 3‐ureidobenzyl)amines with Cs symmetry self‐assemble in solution forming mixtures of regioisomeric capsular aggregates, one of which is chiral and the other centrosymmetric. Under certain conditions, a predominance of the centrosymmetric regioisomer is found before equilibrium, that is, a mixture close to the statistical ratio of the two species is reached. In the solid state, there is a preference for the centrosymmetric capsules. Molecular models of both regioisomeric aggregates have been built and analyzed for comparison. Guests inside capsules formed by self‐assembly of desymmetrized tris(3‐ureidobenzyl)amines feel different magnetic environments, depending on whether they are inside a chiral or an achiral regioisomeric container. Of special significance are the experiments with a more flexible triurea endowed with an ureidopropylic arm, which self‐assembles with the same efficiency as the more rigid tris(ureidobenzyl)amines. 相似文献

By applying inverse statistics to financial data it has recently been found from empirical studies that indices exhibit a pronounced gain-loss asymmetry [M.H. Jensen, Phys. Rev. Lett. 83 (1999) 76; I. Simonsen, M.H. Jensen, A. Johansen, Eur. Phys. J. B 27 (2002) 583; M.H. Jensen, A. Johansen, I. Simonsen, Physica A 324 (2003) 338]. This gain-loss asymmetry appears to have some similarities with the stylized fact leverage effect and we investigate if they could be of same origin. For this purpose we introduce the Frustration Governed Market model which includes correlations in time between a model index and its individual stocks. It is shown that the model reproduces very well the empirical findings with respect to gain-loss asymmetry and leverage. In special cases, however, the model may produce leverage without a pronounced gain-loss asymmetry. 相似文献
