This report describes a detailed structural, electronic, and catalytic characterization of zinc gallium oxonitride photocatalysts with a spinel crystal structure. The bandgap decreases to less than 3 eV with increasing nitrogen content (<3 wt%) and these photocatalysts are active in visible light (λ>420 nm) for the degradation of cresol and rhodamine B. Density functional theory calculations show that this bandgap reduction is in part associated with hybridization between the dopant N 2p states and Zn 3d orbitals at the top of the valence band. X-ray photoelectron measurements indicate that nitrogen is indeed interacting with the oxide precursor through the formation of both nitride- and oxonitride-type species. The incorporation of nitrogen reduces the uniformity of the local structure of the spinel Zn-Ga-O-N (ZGON) species, as reflected in X-ray absorption spectra and Raman measurements relative to zinc gallate, which suggests the presence of defects. The oxonitrides exhibit faster photocatalytic rates of reaction than the oxide precursor. The degradation mechanisms were determined to be via the attack by hydroxyl radicals and holes for rhodamine B and cresol, respectively. Addition of Pt as a co-catalyst increased the rate of photodegradation, a result attributed to better charge separation. 相似文献

β-Glucan, derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, is a biological response modifier which affects the innate and adaptive immune responses. The CCR5 chemokine receptor is crucial for immune cell responses. In this study, the effects of the carboxymethylated form of β-glucan (CM-G) on the lymphocyte population of CCR5 genotype patients with prostate cancer (PCa), undergoing androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) was assessed. The CCR5 genotype and lymphocyte population was investigated by cytometry flow in 30 Brazilian patients with advanced PCa who were treated with CM-G for 28 days. The analysis of the CCR5 chemokine receptor revealed that the wild-type genotype Wt/Wt was present in 80% of patients, while the heterozygotic genotype Wt/delta32 was present in 20% of patients. After CM-G administration, a significant increase in CD3(+), CD4(+) and CD8(+) T lymphocytes was observed in patients who displayed the wild-type genotype for the CCR5 chemokine receptor. No association was found between patient's age or length of ADT and increase in T lymphocyte cells. The results demonstrated the ability of CM-G to stimulate CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells in the peripheral blood of patients carrying a wild-type CCR5 genotype, suggesting an interaction between immunomodulation by CM-G and the CCR5 receptor. 相似文献

We present in this review a joint experimental and theoretical overview of the synthesis techniques and properties of boron-nitride (BN) and boron-carbonitride (BCN) nanotubes. While their tubular structure is similar to that of their carbon analogues, we show that their electronic properties are significantly different. We devise a new asymptotic statistical test to assess independence in bivariate continuous distributions. Our approach is based on the Cramér–von Mises test, in which the empirical process is viewed as the Kullback–Leibler divergence, that is, as the distance between the data under the independence hypothesis and the data empirically observed. We derive the theoretical characteristic function of the limit distribution of the test statistic and find the critical values through computer simulation. A Monte Carlo experiment is considered as assessing the validation and power performance of the test by assuming a bivariate nonlinear dependence structure with fat tails. Two extra examples, respectively, consider stationary and conditionally nonstationary series. Results confirm that our suggested test is consistent and powerful in the presence of bivariate nonlinear dependence even if the environment is non-Gaussian. Our case is illustrated with high-frequency data from stocks listed on the NYSE that recently experienced so-called mini-flash crashes. 相似文献
