Variation of the temperature factor of models on a ballistic range

A technique for variation of the temperature factor of free-flight models by varying their initial temperature is described. An experiment on a ballistic range is carried out with a free-flying supersonic blunt cone with a half-angle of 15° at a Mach number of 2.3. The flow at the cone base is studied in the transition range (from the laminar to turbulent flow) of Reynolds numbers. The base flow pattern is determined from the shadowgraphs of the flow about the models. The drag coefficient of the blunt cone at a zero angle of attack is found by processing trajectory data. It is found that the near wake geometries and the drag coefficients of the models tested at the laboratory temperature and a temperature of 120 K differ. Explanations of this effect are given.     

Arenesulfonylimines of methyl trifluoropyruvate in the cyclocondensation reactions with 1,3-C,N-and-N,N-binucleophiles

Reaction of arenesulfonylimines of methyl trifluoropyruvate with 1,3-C,N-and-N,N-binucleophiles led to a variety of N-sulfonylated fluorine-containing heterocycles, including the fused ones. Spatial amplification of a laser wave and the transverse spread of electrons in an undulator with a noncollinear configuration

The spatial amplification of a wave in a magnetostatic undulator with noncollinear electron and laser beams is studied in the framework of the dispersion relation for single-frequency and collective regimes. The dependence of the gain on the electron beam width is estimated with regard to the spatial boundedness of the beams. The laser power threshold at which the selection with respect to the transverse velocity is possible is obtained for a free-electron laser without inversion.     

A manifestation of magnetism of bismuth in iron garnet films

Bismuth iron garnet films prepared through electron-beam and laser-induced evaporation on (001)-oriented substrates of scandium gallium gadolinium garnet are investigated using ferromagnetic resonance. It is assumed that the additional minima observed in the angular dependence of the resonance field can be associated with the magnetic moment of bismuth ions.     

Organylthiochloroacetylenes: IX. Reactions with geminal and vicinal dithiols

Alkylthiochloroacetylenes react with geminal (in ether) and vicinal (in THF) dithiols to form, respectively, functional 1,3-dithiolenes (yield 43%) or 1,3-dithiolanes (yield 34%).     

Measurement of the $b\overline{b}$ production cross section in 920 GeV fixed-target proton-nucleus collisions

Using the HERA - B detector, the production cross section has been measured in 920 GeV proton collisions on carbon and titanium targets. The production was tagged via inclusive bottom quark decays into by exploiting the longitudinal separation of decay vertices from the primary proton-nucleus interaction.
