A Mach–Zehnder interferometer formed in single mode fiber is implemented. The interferometer is built by two mechanically-induced long-period gratings. In addition, a fiber taper in the middle section is inserted. The spectral properties of the whole system are analyzed. Visibility of the interference fringes up to 0.80 (the higher ever reported using mechanically-induced long-period gratings) with fringe spacing in the 4.1 to 0.86 nm range are experimentally demonstrated. The proposed device allows reducing the fiber diameter of the section between gratings with a minimal effect in the interference fringe spacing. The sensitivity of the interferometer to external refractive index changes was also studied. It is experimentally shown that, due to the nature of the cladding mode excited, it is necessary to taper the fiber to improve the system sensitivity to external refractive index. Fiber tapers with different diameter, inserted between the long-period gratings pair were fabricated and tested for measuring external refractive index changes. A maximum resolution of 2.3×10?4 RIU in a refractive index range from 1.36 to 1.402 is achieved.  相似文献

The pattern of charge modulations and local anisotropies below the Verwey transition has been determined and quantified in high‐quality Fe3O4 single crystals and thin films grown on MgO by using resonant X‐ray scattering at the Fe K‐edge. The energy, polarization and azimuthal angle dependencies of an extensive set of reflections with potential sensitivity to charge or local anisotropy orderings have been analyzed to explore their origins. A charge disproportion on octahedral B sites of 0.20 ± 0.05 e? with [0 0 1] and cubic periodicities has been confirmed, while no significant charge disproportion has been obtained with [0 0 1/2] cubic periodicity. Additional charge modulations in the monoclinic a–b plane are also present. In addition, the occurrence of new forbidden (1, 1, 0) and (0, 0, 2n + 1/2) cubic reflections that arise from the anisotropy of the local structure around different tetrahedral and octahedral Fe atoms is shown. This complex pattern of weak charge modulations and local anisotropies is fully compatible with the low‐temperature crystal structure refined in the non‐polar C2/c space group and disproves any bimodal charge disproportion of the octahedral Fe atoms.  相似文献

Friedreich ataxia is a disease that is associated with defects in the gene coding for a small protein frataxin. Several different roles have been proposed for the protein, including iron chaperoning and iron storage. M?ssbauer spectroscopy was used to probe these hypotheses. Iron accumulation in mutant mitochondria unable to assemble iron sulfur clusters proved to be insensitive to overexpression of frataxin, ruling out its potential involvement as an iron storage protein similar to ferritin. Rather, it was found that frataxin negatively regulates iron sulfur cluster assembly.  相似文献

Hydrogen adsorption in gold nanocontact electrodes in electrochemical solution is experimentally discerned. This is performed with gold nanocontact conductance histograms in an electrochemical environment in which both the electrochemical potential and the electrolyte type are varied. Different salts, acids, and hydrogen peroxide electrolytes are studied. Salts and acids exhibit at negative electrochemical potentials different fractional quantum conductance histograms peaks associated to extra stable structures due to H adsorption while these peaks do not appear for H2O2 where electron transfer between solution and electrodes occurs without hydrogen formation or hydrogen adsorption on the gold electrode.  相似文献

The impact of annealing at 300 °C on the elemental composition and the atomic structure of the Co/V interface in the 2.5 Å Co/70 Å V/MgO (100) system has been investigated by medium energy ion scattering (MEIS) using 100 keV He+ ions. By combining the experimental MEIS results with simulations we show that, while the Co/V interface is abrupt for the system kept at room temperature, annealing at 300 °C induces a strong interdiffusion leading to a Co0.5V0.5 surface bcc alloy with a high degree of disorder. Additionally, the MEIS data suggest that the surface of the annealed system is slightly rumpled by ~ 0.2 Å.  相似文献

We provide a series of arguments which support the idea that the peak seen in the \( \gamma\) p \( \rightarrow\) K + \( \Lambda\) reaction around 1920MeV should correspond to the recently predicted state of J P = 1/2+ as a bound state of K \( \bar{{K}}\) N with a mixture of a 0(980)N and f 0(980)N components. At the same time we propose polarization experiments in that reaction as a further test of the prediction, as well as a study of the total cross-section for \( \gamma\) p \( \rightarrow\) K + K - p at energies close to threshold and of dσ/dM inv for invariant masses close to the two-kaon threshold.  相似文献

The extended quadruple–Kerr metric is used to consider equilibrium states of four collinear Kerr particles. We explain our previous failure to solve numerically the full set of the balance equations, and we derive a self–consistent system of the axis conditions leading to the equilibrium of all four constituents which can be black holes or hyperextreme objects. The equilibrium configurations obtained in this paper exhibit similar features with those occurring in the systems of two Kerr particles, for instance, the balance of four Kerr black holes with positive masses does not seem possible. Equilibrium states of two identical compound Kerr objects are also discussed.  相似文献

In this work a study on gold mineral samples is reported, using optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS). The auriferous samples are from the El Diamante mine, located in Guachavez-Nariño (Colombia) and were prepared by means of polished thin sections. The petrography analysis registered the presence, in different percentages that depend on the sample, of pyrite, quartz, arsenopyirite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and galena. The XRD analysis confirmed these findings through the calculated cell parameters. One typical Rietveld analysis showed the following weight percent of phases: 85.0% quartz, 14.5% pyrite and 0.5% sphalerite. In this sample, MS demonstrated the presence of two types of pyrite whose hyperfine parameters are δ 1 = 0.280 ± 0.002 mm/s and Δ 1 = 0.642 ± 0.002 mm/s, δ 2 = 0.379 ± 0.002 mm/s and Δ 2 = 0.613 ± 0.002 mm/s.  相似文献
