The effect of two strong salting-out salts (Na2SO4 and K2SO4) on the temperature-induced phase-separation process in aqueous solutions of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPA) was examined by attenuated total reflectance/Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and viscosity measurements. On the basis of these measurements, a detailed scenario of the phase-separation process was deduced. The phase-separation scenario of solutions containing PNIPA and water was altered in the presence of sulfate ions. Here, the sulfate ions induced partial intrachain collapse, manifested by a relatively compact structure well below the lower critical solution temperature. This led to a more gradual, smooth phase transition, with temperature-resolved intrachain collapse and interchain aggregation and a lesser extent of hysteresis. Although at the macrolevel one may not be able to differentiate among various scenarios altering the solvent into a poor solvent, the aforementioned microlevel measurements provided a way to expose the difference between raising the temperature and adding cosolutes. This report focuses on the status, requirements, and potentials of CE-ICP-MS. The ultimate goal of a viable CE-ICP-MS system is to obtain quantitative elemental speciation information and isotopic ratio data for practical biological and environmental metal containing compounds. To make use of the CE separation features, the CE analyte must be introduced efficiently into the ICP. For practical samples, pre- and post-separation enrichment techniques probably are required. Summary Californium-252 plasma desorption mass spectra were recorded for complexes of the anions of various thio-and seleno-semicarbazones of 3-acetylpyridines(1–4) with the transition metal ions iron(III) and cobalt(II). Positive ion spectra gave clear evidence of the cation present and fragmentation with loss of ligands or parts of ligands was straightforward. Negative ion spectra likewise provided evidence of the intact anion except with tetracoordinate metal halide systems [MX4]– which lost one or more halide atoms. Evidence of fragmentation of the ligand and recombination of the fragments with the metal ion was also observed in the negative ion mode. Spectra were used to revise the structure of a complex previously reported as [FeLCl2](1) to [FeL2]+[FeCl4]–. 相似文献

Soft molecular electrostatic potentials (SMEP or SEMP) have been recently defined substituting the point-like proton by a Gaussian positive charge distribution. In the present paper an additional step is taken forward, transforming SMEP into a completely soft MEP (CoSMEP). Such transformation is carried out using a charge distributed proton as in SMEP and also a Gaussian positive nuclear charge distribution, instead of the classical point-like nuclear charges. The general form of MEP is roughly preserved, but new features can be noticed. Such new point of view is also associated to the possibility to redefine the molecular charge density. Definition of CoSMEP is thus connected to the definition of total molecular density functions (DF), where to the negative electronic DF is summed up the soft nuclear DF, made of linear combinations of Gaussian distributions of nuclear charges. 相似文献

Characterization of core–shell type nanoparticles in 3D by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) can be very challenging. Especially when both heavy and light elements coexist within the same nanostructure, artifacts in the 3D reconstruction are often present. A representative example would be a particle comprising an anisotropic metallic (Au) nanoparticle coated with a (mesoporous) silica shell. To obtain a reliable 3D characterization of such an object, a dose‐efficient strategy is proposed to simultaneously acquire high‐angle annular dark‐field scanning TEM and annular dark‐field tilt series for tomography. The 3D reconstruction is further improved by applying an advanced masking and interpolation approach to the acquired data. This new methodology enables us to obtain high‐quality reconstructions from which also quantitative information can be extracted. This approach is broadly applicable to investigate hybrid core–shell materials. 相似文献

In this work, we present a stabilized formulation to solve the inductionless magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) problem using the finite element (FE) method. The MHD problem couples the Navier–Stokes equations and a Darcy-type system for the electric potential via Lorentz’s force in the momentum equation of the Navier–Stokes equations and the currents generated by the moving fluid in Ohm’s law. The key feature of the FE formulation resides in the design of the stabilization terms, which serve several purposes. First, the formulation is suitable for convection dominated flows. Second, there is no need to use interpolation spaces constrained to a compatibility condition in both sub-problems and therefore, equal-order interpolation spaces can be used for all the unknowns. Finally, this formulation leads to a coupled linear system; this monolithic approach is effective, since the coupling can be dealt by effective preconditioning and iterative solvers that allows to deal with high Hartmann numbers. 相似文献

A parametric study of sandwich-type discharge chamber nitrogen lasers has been carried out. A non-monotonic dependence of the energy emitted by the laser and the discharge chamber thickness is found. Discharge chambers with = 1 have the best electro-optical efficiency. The ratio between the electrode gap,d, and is found to be a scaling parameter. The possible influence of wall ablation in the comportment is also discussed. 相似文献
