The first general approach toward the asymmetric synthesis of 4-alkyl-4-carboxy-2-azetidinones derived from amino acids is described. Measurements of ultrafast fluorescence anisotropy decay in model branched dendritic molecules of different symmetry are reported. These molecules contain the fundamental branching center units of larger dendrimer macromolecules with either three (C(3))- or four (T(d), tetrahedral)-fold symmetry. The anisotropy for a tetrahedral system is found to decay on a subpicosecond time scale (880 fs). This decay can be qualitatively explained by F?rster-type incoherent energy migration between chromophores. Alternatively, for a nitrogen-centered trimer system, the fluorescence anisotropy decay time (35 fs) is found to be much shorter than that of the tetramers, and the decay cannot be attributed to an incoherent hopping mechanism. In this case, a coherent interchromophore energy transport mechanism should be considered. The mechanism of the ultrafast energy migration process in the branched systems is interpreted by use of a phenomenological quantum mechanical model, which examines the two extreme cases of incoherent and coherent interactions. 相似文献

New families of enantiopure bis(oxazolines) with 4,5-trans (5 a-g) or 4,5-cis (6 c) stereochemistry at the individual rings have been prepared in high yield. Their eta(3)-allyl palladium complexes (8 a-g, 9 c and 10) have been used as catalytic precursors in allylic alkylation reactions with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 96 %) for the trans oxazoline derivatives, while Pd/6 c system was inactive. NMR studies on palladium eta(3)-1,3-diphenylallyl intermediates (11 a, c and e) showed the presence of syn/syn- and syn/anti-allyl isomers in solution; this resembles the first example of eta(3)-eta(1)-eta(3) isomerism in Pd allylic complexes containing bis(oxazolines) derived from malonic acid. 相似文献

The photophysical and photochemical properties of (OC‐6‐33)‐(2,2′‐bipyridine‐κN1,κN1′)tricarbonyl(9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐dioxoanthracene‐2‐carboxylato‐κO)rhenium (fac‐[ReI(aq‐2‐CO2)(2,2′‐bipy)(CO)3]) were investigated and compared to those of the free ligand 9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐dioxoanthracene‐2‐carboxylate (=anthraquinone‐2‐carboxylate) and other carboxylato complexes containing the (2,2′‐bipyridine)tricarbonylrhenium ([Re(2,2′‐bipy)(CO)3]) moiety. Flash and steady‐state irradiations of the anthraquinone‐derived ligand (λexc 337 or 351 nm) and of its complex reveal that the photophysics of the latter is dominated by processes initiated in the Re‐to‐(2,2′‐bipyridine) charge‐transfer excited state and 2,2′‐bipyridine‐ and (anthraquinone‐2‐carboxylato)‐centered intraligand excited states. In the reductive quenching by N,N‐diethylethanamine (TEA) or 2,2′,2″‐nitrilotris[ethanol] TEOA, the reactive states are the 2,2′‐bipyridine‐centered and/or the charge‐transfer excited states. The species with a reduced anthraquinone moiety is formed by the following intramolecular electron transfer, after the redox quenching of the excited state: [ReI(aq−2−CO2)(2,2′‐bipy.)(CO)3]−⇌[ReI(aq−2−CO2.)(2,2′‐bipy)(CO)3]− The photophysics, particularly the absence of a ReI‐to‐anthraquinone charge‐transfer excited state photochemistry, is discussed in terms of the electrochemical and photochemical results. 相似文献

In this report, enantiomerically pure 4-trichloromethyl-2-oxetanone is shown to be a versatile amino acid synthon leading to a variety of gamma-substituted alpha-amino acid precursors. Peptidylarginine deiminase 4 (PAD4), also known as protein arginine deiminase 4, performs a post-translational deimination that converts arginine to citrulline. The dysregulation of PAD4 has been implicated in a number of diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and cancer. This makes PAD4 an important therapeutic target. To develop small-molecule inhibitors as potential treatments, it is advantageous if the catalytic mechanism is well understood. The protonation states of the active site residues, which have long been under controversy, have a direct impact on the catalytic mechanism. Two competing mechanisms are under investigation in the current literature. The first is a reverse protonation mechanism that depends on the active site histidine and cysteine existing as an ion pair. The second is a substrate-assisted mechanism that depends on the active site histidine and cysteine being neutral. This study uses the semimicroscopic protein dipoles Langevin dipoles (PDLD/S) linear response approximation method in the MOLARIS software package to calculate the change in solvation energy of moving the residue from water to the protein interior, and then using that information to assess the protonation states of the active site residues of PAD4. Results from these calculations suggest that in the enzyme–substrate complex of PAD4, the cysteine and histidine are protonated and deprotonated, respectively, and are therefore both neutral, analogous to the proposed protonation states of the active site residues in the Michaelis complex in the substrate-assisted mechanism. 相似文献

Shape‐memory polymers (SMP) are versatile stimuli‐responsive materials that can switch, upon stimulation, from a temporary to a permanent shape. This advanced functionality makes SMP suitable and promising materials for diverse technological applications, including the fabrication of smart biomedical devices. In this paper, advances in the design of SMP are discussed, with emphasis on materials investigated for medical applications. Future directions necessary to bring SMP closer to their clinical application are also highlighted.

A family of eight neutral, pseudotetrahedral piano-stool ruthenium complexes C, of the type [RuCl2(p-cymene)(PArPhR)] (Ar = 1-naphthyl, 9-phenanthryl and 2-biphenylyl; R = Me, i-Pr, OMe, –CH2SiMe3 and –CH2SiPh3) have been prepared and characterised, including the X-ray crystal structure for C6 (Ar = 2-biphenylyl; R = i-Pr). These complexes catalyse the asymmetric hydrogen transfer reaction of acetophenone in refluxing 2-propanol in the presence of potassium tert-butoxyde, reaching full conversions and up to 45% ee after 24 h towards the S enantiomer of 1-phenylethanol. Cationic complexes formed upon treatment of C with one equivalent of AgSbF6 or (Et3O)PF6 are active in the cyclopropanation reaction of styrene and α-methylstyrene by ethyl diazoacetate. Low to moderate conversions (up to 58%), diastereoselectivities (up to 40% de), and moderate enantioselectivities (up to 69% ee) have been found. For both reactions, bulky complexes and C6 in particular lead to the best results. 相似文献
