Bounds onL 1:1 Β (t) in terms of a generalized measure of entropy

In the present paper we define the codes which assign D-alphabet one-one codeword to each outcome of a random variable and the functions which represent possible transformations from one-one codes of size D to suitable codes. By using these functions, we obtain lower bounds on the exponentiated mean codeword length for one-one codes in terms of the generalized entropy of order α and type Β and study the particular cases also.     

Homogeneous Bianchi type VI0 perfect fluid space-times

An algorithm is presented for generating new exact solutions of the Einstein equations for spatially homogeneous cosmological models of Bianchi type VI₀. The energy-momentum tensor is of perfect fluid type. Starting from Dunn and Tupper's dust-filled universe, new classes of solutions are obtained. The solutions represent anisotropic universes filled with perfect fluid not satisfying the equation of state. Some of their physical properties are studied.     

Stresses in an elastic plate lying over a base due to strip-loading

The closed-form analytic expressions for the stresses at any point of an elastic plate coupling in different ways to a base as a result of a two-dimensional shear strip-loading are obtained. The contact between the horizontal layer and the base is either smooth-rigid or rough-rigid or welded. The variations of the shear stresses with the horizontal distance have been studied numerically. It is found that the effect of different boundary conditions on the stress field is significant and the stresses for an elastic layer lying over an elastic half-space differ considerably from those of an entire homogeneous elastic half-space.     

Evidence for resonance electron transfer in photon excited X-ray satellite spectra of fluorine compounds

The KαL¹/KαL⁰ intensity ratio of fluorine is measured in five fluorine compounds with a crystal spectrometer. An anomalous reduction of this intensity ratio was observed in KF and SrF₂, which is attributed to resonance electron transfer from the metal ion to the spectator vacancy in the fluorine ion. KαL²/KαL⁰ intensity ratio of fluorine is also measured. The measured relative intensities are compared with the theoretical estimates of Aberg. Formerly RSIC     

Strange solitons in a chiral quark-meson model

We consider aSU(3) quark soliton model based on chiral invariant quark-meson coupling. We find soliton solutions with nonzero strangeness andB=1 in the model with nontrivial kaonic fields, for values of the coupling constant greater than the phenomenologically acceptable number. Hence they do not correspond to known strange baryons.     

Phi-pseudo-monotonicity and approximation-solvability of nonlinear equations

We generalize the results on the approximation-solvability of nonlinear functional equations to the case of Φ-pseudo-monotone mappings—a new and rather general class of mappings. An application is considered.     

The vorticity jump across a stationary magnetogasdynamic discontinuity

Résumé La condition du saut de vorticité est obtenue à travers une discontinuité magnéto-dynamique dans un gaz. On montre que la conclusion de Hayes pour la dérivation du saut de vorticité à travers une discontinuité dynamique dans un gaz n'est pas valable à travers une discontinuité magnéto-dynamique dans un gaz. On montre aussi que les résultats obtenus ne sont pas limités aux ondes de choc, mais valent également pour les ondes de la détonation et de la condensation. Les résultats concernant quelques cas particuliers intéressants ont aussi été déduits et discutés.     

Refractive Indexes of Binary Mixtures of Tetrahydrofuran with 1-Alkanols at 25°C and Temperature Dependence of n and ρ for the Pure Liquids

Refractive indexes at 25°C were measured for binary mixtures of tetrahydrofuran with 1-hexanol, 1-heptanol, 1-octanol, 1-nonanol, and 1-decanol. Densities, from which excess molar volumes were derived, were measured at the same temperature for the system tetrahydrofuran + 1-decanol. Refractive indexes and densities for the pure compounds were determined at 11 temperatures between 20 and 30°C. The thermal expansion coefficients and the temperature derivatives of the refractive index for these liquids were calculated at 25°C. The temperature dependence of the molar refraction was also examined. The contribution to the molar refraction of a CH₂ group was calculated as was the difference between contributions from CH₃ and CH₂OH groups. The change of molar refraction on mixing is d iscussed in terms of molecular interactions and alkyl chain length.
