Effect of mangiferin on benzo(a)pyrene induced lung carcinogenesis in experimental Swiss albino mice
The present study is an effort to identify a potent chemopreventive agent against cancer, in which oxidative stress plays an important causative role. The modulatory effect of mangiferin on mitochondrial lipid peroxidation (LPO), tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle key enzymes and electron transport chain complexes was investigated against lung carcinogenesis induced by benzo(a)pyrene (50 mg kg(-1) b/w orally) in Swiss albino mice. Decreased activities of electron transport chain complexes and TCA cycle key enzymes such as isocitrate dehydrogenase (ICDH), succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), malate dehydrogenase (MDH) and alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (alpha-KGDH), in lung cancer bearing animals were observed. Pre- and post-treatment with mangiferin (100 mg kg(-1) b/w orally) for 18 weeks, prevented the above biochemical changes, which were inclined towards normal control animal values. This study further confirms the chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic effect of mangiferin and these results are consistent with our hypothesis that mangiferin is a promising chemopreventive agent. 相似文献

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in the world and is notoriously difficult to treat effectively. In the present study, male Swiss albino mice were divided into five groups of six animals each: group I animals received corn oil orally and served as a control; group II cancer-induced animals received benzo(a)pyrene (B[a]P) (50 mg kg(-1) bodyweight dissolved in corn oil, orally) twice weekly for four successive weeks; group III cancer-bearing animals (after 12 weeks of induction) were treated with cisplatin (6 mg kg(-1) bodyweight, i.p.) once weekly for 4 weeks; group IV cancer-bearing animals were treated with cisplatin along with Solanum trilobatum (300 mg kg(-1) bodyweight) orally once weekly for 4 weeks; and group V animals constituted the drug control treated with cisplatin along with S. trilobatum. The serum, lung and liver were investigated biochemically for aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, 5'-nucleotidase, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and protein-bound carbohydrate components (hexose, hexosamine and sialic acid). These enzyme activities were increased significantly in cancer-bearing animals compared with control animals. The elevation of these in cancer-bearing animals was indicative of the persistent deteriorating effect of B[a]P in cancer-bearing animals. Our data suggest that cisplatin, administered with S. trilobatum, may extend its chemotherapeutic effect through modulating protein-bound carbohydrate levels and marker enzymes, as they are indicators of cancer. The combination of cisplatin with S. trilobatum could effectively treat the B[a]P-induced lung cancer in mice by offering protection from reactive oxygen species damage and also by suppressing cell proliferation. 相似文献

Coordinatively unsaturated double‐stranded helicates [(H2L)2Eu2(NO3)2(H2O)4](NO3)4, [(H2L)2Tb2(H2O)6](NO3)6, and [(H2L)2Tb2(H2O)6]Cl6 (H2L=butanedioicacid‐1,4‐bis[2‐(2‐pyridinylmethylene)hydrazide]) are easily obtained by self‐assembly from the ligand and the corresponding lanthanide(III) salts. The complexes are characterized by X‐ray crystallography showing the helical arrangement of the ligands. Co‐ligands at the metal ions can be easily substituted by appropriate anions. A specific luminescence response of AMP in presence of ADP, ATP, and other anions is observed. Specificity is assigned to the perfect size match of AMP to bridge the two metal centers and to replace quenching co‐ligands in the coordination sphere. 相似文献

The synthesis of ZnS-coated polystyrene composite colloids by the decomposition of thioacetamide in the presence of polystyrene seed particles and metal salt is presented. The chemical bath deposition technique incorporates poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) to inhibit particle aggregation during the synthesis so that core-shell particles with sizes in the low sub-micron range were achieved. The shell thickness was well controlled through the reaction time and core size. ZnS shells were composed of primary crystallites, approximately 5 nm in diameter, which had the zinc blend crystal structure. The porosity of the shells was between 12 and 19%. Accordingly, the effective refractive index of the particles varied between 1.73 and 1.98 at wavelengths above the optical absorption edge of ZnS. Ordered colloidal crystals were produced by convective assembly of the poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) stabilized core-shell particles. Assemblies of ZnS shell-polystyrene core particles are photonic crystal materials which may have applications in optical computing and communications environments. 相似文献

Friedländer synthesis of 2-acylquinolines from the reaction of symmetrical and unsymmetrical 1,2-diketones with 2-aminoarylketones in the presence of indium triflate (In(OTf)3) and ionic liquid gives quantitative yields. Once the reaction was completed, the catalysts can be recovered and subsequently run for next cycles. Results obtained from theoretical studies have been more strengthened by FT-IR, FT-NMR chemical shifts, and structural parameters which were attained with B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level of theory and the related results were demonstrated with the experimental interpretations. 相似文献

Ethoxy-4-nitrobenzene was synthesized by the reaction of 4-chloronitrobenzene with potassium ethoxide in a homogeneous system using benzyltriethylammonium chloride (QCl) as a phase-transfer catalyst at 50 degrees C under ultrasound irradiation conditions. The use of phase-transfer catalysts and ultrasound has been compared and demonstrated in this nucleophilic substitution reactions. The kinetics of the reaction depends on the effect of amount of catalyst, quaternary ammonium salts, agitation speed, amount of potassium hydroxide, amount of ethanol, temperature and the frequency of the ultrasound waves on the conversion of the reaction. 相似文献

Substituted aromatic ketoximes reacted efficiently with allylic acetates in the presence of {[RuCl2(p‐cymene)]2} and AgSbF6 in 1,2‐dichloroethane at ambient temperature, providing ortho‐allyl aromatic ketoximes in a highly regioselective manner without an oxidant. In the reaction, the acetate group of allyl acetate acts as a base to activate the C?H bond of aromatics. High-performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) method for the separation and quantitative determination of ten markers (catechins, flavonoids, and phenolics) in different extracts of green tea and guava leaf has been developed and the antioxidant activity profiles of the two plant extracts have been determined. Ten marker compounds have been resolved using silica gel 60 F(254) plates, toluene/acetone/formic acid (5:4:1 v/v/v) for markers 1-6, and toluene/ethyl acetate/formic acid/methanol (3:3:0.8:0.2 v/v/v/v) for markers 7-10 as the mobile phases. The high-performance thin layer chromatography densitometry was performed at wavelengths of 282 and 285 nm for the markers 1-6 and 7-10, respectively. Potent antioxidant activity and the presence of phenolics and flavan-3-ols has been observed for the guava leaf extracts suggestive of its use as an alternate economical source of antioxidants over green tea--the well-established food additive/nutraceutical agent. 相似文献

The non-steady-state concentration for an EC reaction at planar electrode is derived. The analytical expression for the concentration for EC reaction is reported for small and large value of reaction rate. The asymptotic expression for the non-steady-state current for EC reaction is also derived. The analytical solutions for normalized current response were formulated using the method of Laplace transformation. A mathematical model of steady state mono-layer potentiometric biosensor is developed. The model is based on non stationary
diffusion equations containing a non linear term related to Michaelis-Menten kinetics of the enzymatic reaction. This paper
presents a complex numerical method (He’s variational iteration method) to solve the non-linear differential equations that
describe the diffusion coupled with a Michaelis-Menten kinetics law. Approximate analytical expressions for substrate concentration
and corresponding current response have been derived for all values of saturation parameter α and reaction diffusion parameter
K using variational iteration method. These results are compared with available limiting case results and are found to be in
